Bringing back 6 lives per map would be a massive W before the holidays.

The game's in EA and isn't perfect. I think the game is quite good with a solid base to work with.

With GGG winding down for the holidays, there's a lot to still work on regarding crafting, mapping, lost tower issues, and general problems with atlas progression.

I can be patient for all this, but the one change that'd be solid would be reverting this change.

It sucks in solo play but even playing with a couple buddies. One person dies and they just... wait till we finish. It's also a bit harder to see things with 3 players spamming abilities + monster visual clutter.

We presumably aren't getting another patch till later in Jan, and hopefully GGG doesn't stick to their gun

like, take the praetor boss ifght in act 1 as an example. there's ghosts on the ground getting sucked towards the boss. alright, it's probably not a good thing he gets to suck them up. so you step on them. you get zero feedback what that does, or if it does anything. you get basically zero feedback if you let him suck those souls up.

there's FAR MORE things that aren't explained to you in the slightest than there are things that are explained. player concepts like WHAT skills are - are explained well enough. what they DO in actuality can be a fucking hassle in of itself. the fact that you can't even look at passive gems and see what skills they apply to unless you're on the recommended gem section is fucking retarded.

Game needs a massive end game overhaul, and all damage modifiers in the skill tree need to at least be cut in half. AoE spam is the gayest shit imagable, especially when there is an actual good game hidden beneath the surface underlying the typical ARPGfag playsyle.

I'm still having fun but I wish I had gone the recoup wheel and tried it as a major form of defense. You can easily get 60% damage taken as mana and 100% life recoup with about 50% mana recoup for the same amount of points as any other defense. Could be fun

Does anyone play mercenary with 2 weapon sets? I'm playing crossbow and two handed mace. Clearing trash is easy so far: I bait them to a totem, throw grenades, rolling slam and they all die in a sec. But I find it very hard to fight against bosses. I swear Balbala took me 5 minutes to kill, because I do so little damage. What are the best crossbow/mace skills against bosses?

No prob other anon. Don't forget to use a temp chains blasphemy, with the hinder on curse wheel, and all "increased effect of slows" nearby. Even with apex turned off, enemies literally can barely hit you, which synergizes with both recoup and temporal rift. I have the time freeze and apex with a CI character and I'm almost unkillable, and an get around 9 free seconds of safe dps time every 40 seconds. It's not some super high damage number but it's the tanky caster and fun for me

What I feel so far playing in early game (act 1&2) is that there is no advantage or unique skills you get when going two weapon sets. I wish there was something like that but basically what it boils down to is that when you hold a crossbow, you are merc, when you swap to mace you're a warrior. I can't still find a good reason to play two weapon sets.

I'm using Bonestorm in cruel, not taking a lot of hits either. I use frost wall for CC, frost bomb to do the first chunks of damage, then follow up with bone storm. If they manage to slip by or surprise me, I have the bone spike circle skill juiced with pin chance to stop most shit in its tracks long enough for me to freeze it, blast it, comet it, or bone storm it.

Bloodmage Act 1 Cruel, beat Doryani first try once the build came online when I got Frost Wall.

Crazy how Capcom can make a better skinnerbox ARPG than almost every western dev on the planet, and don't need to shove a trillion MTX's up your ass to do so.

almost every single one of those items only has 1-2 exalts slammed on them, its not that expensive. he probably only does it if the trans aug regal hits a good evasion prefix so its a very high chance to produce a high evasion item which he then lists for 5+ exalts. he probably also reforges the ones that dont turn out well.
some of those slams produce really shit items but some also produce extremely good items so i think the average return is much higher than the exalt he puts in. you gotta get those high evasion chests somehow

this is funny because Wilds is to World what PoE is to PoE2
They took all the weight out of the gameplay because redditors complained about hitstop for no reason, everything is streamlined and quick and fast and go go go schizo metabuildinging 500 stacks of every passive, you can gather almost automatically, your chicken taxis you to the monster so instead of pathing there you're literally waiting with your hands off the controller (GENIUS!), there is no gameplay loop (Prep>Hunt>Gather>Craft>Repeat) because it's all fight fight fight and every single weapon has an iframed counter because Longsword was super popular (which had nothing to do with the gameplay, niggas is just weebs) and it also runs at 10fps on a threadripper+4090 with DLSS enabled, just like PoE

you can start hardcore and then just keep playing the character in softcore so go for that if you feel like it

idk I assumed since perfect strike converts a portionto fire damage and always ignites, and I'm using herald of ash, I'm incentivized to get +fire damage stuff and at some point that will boost avatar of fire enough to be better than physical damage

They look better in PoE 2, have better physics system and renderer for metals/materials.
But they have only ported like 1-2% of all MTX so far, they lied about having been working on this for years and only seems to have started a few months ago.
Prob going to take years for everything to get ported, if they bother to do it, I think they will make some excuse not to port really old stuff.

They don't even have a proper interface for MTX in PoE 2 either, feels really rushed and last minute.

Yes it is!
The two most important aspects of hardcore are
1) Making a tanky build to not get oneshot. Passives and items are necessary.
2) Pressing escape to pause the game. If you are tanky enough to not get oneshot, you can just pause the game if you are fast enough! Then you can click "Respawn at Checkpoint" and leave the fight! Wow! Alternatively you can get "% of flask is applied instantly" and just immediately use a flask when you unpause!

What a great game GGG!

PoE1 operates on principle: main skeleton of a game easy as fuck, optinal content hard. This aproach allowed them implement all sorts of bullshit from sanctum to heist to blight. Even if those mechanics dont translate well into ARPG, they are just that, optional content.

After they pushed sanctum and ultimatum into core progression, the basic game is broken no matter what and no amount of balancing will ever change that

Well yes but also no. I don't think that using tools in your hideout was a good way to solve crafting. It just turned your crafting mats into currency that you use in your machines. I would really like it if they just buffed the mats themselves and not have to use them as currency.

part of the fun of PoE is not just finding good items off the ground like every other ARPG, but finding good lower rarity bases to craft with currency, and craft/gambling for good gear that way. And to make it less binary, sometimes they're good, just not for you. And that's where another part of the fun comes in, jewing around to sell your dogshit and then jewing around to find upgrades

If it is so fun then why does vast majority of players prefer to trade? Why is nobody actually using these crafting mats in an attempt to create good items? Oh yea, because logically thinking it just isn't worth it. I myself play SSF but it still feels ass thinking how easy people have it in trade when they can just get their good weapon for just few chaos. Meanwhile I might not find one for 10s of levels and if I start gambling with orbs the losses can be devastating.

How do the POE2 weapons work?
As far as I remember in POE1 everything elemental is dogshit by default and the only worthwhile weapons are physical regardless of what skill you're using.

Did they change that in POE2?

I wanna go Voltaic Sharts and Shockblast rounds on Witchunter, should I get a physical crossbow for that, or an elemental one?

The thing about shockburst rounds is that they only work when the target is shocked, how do I scale my shock application and duration?

ssf poe1 is a complex game where you have to think about how to progress, you cant just mindlessly run maps and turn your div/hr into gear. most people dont want that.
when you think that its not worth it, keep in mind that crafted items always sell for way more than the expected value of the currency that goes into them. tradies are stupid

Then you have Settlers of Kalguur portal effect from the most recent league rewards working, but not the other rewards.

You start from zero, everything is reset. But you get a fancy mechanic to spice up the gameplay, which is in every zone through the campaign and in every map. Builds may get changed depending on the patch notes, as they are for 'standard' and 'league' at the same time. Usually nerfs.

Ventrua is probably gonna upload a full guide for it. The main issue is that to really play DD you want this gem and you get Sacrifice really late, he just played a shitty bloodmage with minions until that point. In a vacuum the boss isn't that difficult, but instantly losing your map to a single mistake is just dumb, especially when sustaining high tier maps is so dependent on killing bosses.

I have enough Spirit to have 4 passive buffs on, but if I do that I have to get rid of 2 active skills. Why make the game less fun like that?

it does have unique loot, there are time-lost jewels which give a bonus for every passive skill in a radius around them. you can only get them from time-lost chests which i think are a floor 4 exclusive golden chest type

You gotta remember that streamers have chat and their mods and their discords feeding them info. They have an entire hive mind telling them what they should do with their specific build. Even with guides you don't have access to that resource, and if you're going in without one you're one step further behind.

That being said, I think taking the time to learn the game, craft your own build, and experiment is a far more fun experience than trying to chase the meta through guides you don't understand or asking /poe2g/ to spoonfeed you.

Questions about mechanics are different, making that clear. If you have some baseline knowledge and are confused about specific interactions, that's more of a starting point than "TELL ME WHAT TO DO SO I CAN BE LIKE QUIINN"

yeah its pretty good currency from just killing the rares while the chests drop nothing, excellent design. im not convinced that its a better use of time than mapping though, the only advantage is that its more fun than running the niggerlayouts in poe2.

What is the way you're supposed to use the "Weapon set passives"?

You can put points in a talent under weapon set 1 and then also put it there on your normal set? If you do both you don't get double the bonuses. What's the way you're supposed to use these? I only have 2 per set so what I just branch out to some random talent I didn't plan on getting with my main talent tree?

Also I wanted to respec because I messed up but just refunding 1 talent point costs all my gold(35k), what gives? It's so expensive...

Most people are using it to either have a mapping set and a bossing set, or to have a shield on one set for survivability.

Presumably you can use to snapshot some effects but I haven't seen a real set up doing that yet.

What's a good 2nd weapon to use with witch? I've just been using a sorcerer's staff since they also use INT lol. It's mostly useless since all my minions go away but there was 1 boss early on where I got some giga staff and my fireballs did more damage than all my minions so I used it but now I have plenty of skills on witch

I've heard that totems snapshot your passives on placement so you can have a bunch of totem passives on one set that is assigned for placing totems
But fuck totems right now, I haven't seen anyone seriously using them.
Right now I only swap for armor breaker because for some reason it breaks more armor per hit with one handed weapons, while also attacking much faster

If you're really struggling with Sekhamas you can just stand next to one of the minion summoning portals and kill the endless respawning minions for sacred water and keys. It'll take a long time to get a meaningful amount of water, but you can do it.

Count arc was well written and boss was kino. They're capable of doing it but completely shit the bed in Act 2 with Jamal being a complete wet fart of an antagonist and bottom of the barrel writing and delivery. Act 3 was at least somewhat better than that.

I use something like this. You can set the buffs to specific weapons, so on weapon 1 I got heralds, then on weapon 2 it turns off heralds and turns on cast on x for single target

Their game is busted, simple as. The ONLY solution is to completely gut damage modifiers in the skill tree. no. if your leech works on mana then take the es nodes. this means you are phys attacking a substantial amount.
If you arent phys attacking go mom/eb take the breach nodes but take the increased leech nodes if you are melee they stack with the flames.
If you are going hexblast chalupa you go mom/eb like pic related if you are going 2 click, or you go 1 click despair aura. which is similar, both have pros and cons. despair aura has better clear but is worse for bossing.
