If you mean crossbows your options are Explosive Shot, Grenadier, and Shockburst. Titan and Deadeye variants are actually better at those than either mercenary ascend though.
They just killed vine arrow gemling so that's not a thing but there are probably some off-weapon spellcaster mercenary builds that're still good to be honest. Broadly speaking though the class is shit.

im having fun with gemling, it goes crazy with pillar stacking
there is a hard wall around early/mid maps though where you just need to save up for several 5-10 div items to upgrade, which kinda sucks, but after that i expect to be zooming

Sort of? I went in completely blind and went minions as usual, but naturally every fucking minion build goes RS anyway. I always avoid 'meta' but I feel justified here as I did not see or read or know anything of PoE 2 before going in. Oh and I always played minions back in PoE 1, years and years before any fucker played them. Didn't like when they were popular for a minute either. I would like to one day see "good" players who have done the same build to see what uniques (if any) they use, how they've done their tree and gems. I'm sure mine is sub-optimal or what-not.

Running Avatar of Fire Titans Blood Molten Blast/Perfect Stike/Boneshatter. Yeah, I don't clear screens like Titans do with crushing blow tech and armour explosions but I'm having fun and I can only get buffed (unless they decide to fuck Titans Blood). Sorcery Ward with max block and armour stacking is super beefy, and explosions are nice too.

Just play ssf+
It's exactly the same as ssf, except you are allowed to exchange one currency type for another on the exchange by using exalts as an intermediary. No other trades allowed.
So it's not ssf, really, but it's like 1000 times more tolerable.

While the game's down

Monkbros, how do I play this class? I'm only level 9 now so I know it'll probably change as I get stronger, but right now I'm doing a fuckton of autoattacking to build combo for Bell and that's pretty much all I can do against anything strong
Everything weak dies to a charged Falling Thunder but it feels awkward only being able to use it with a charge from Killing Palm and Killing Palm does absolutely piss all if it's not culling (except for the cool dash)
I have Glacial Cascade and Spark but neither of them seem to be particularly useful

Going for lightning but not looking up a build so I'm wondering how you guys are playing it

I tried using the physical skills instead of the elemental ones; I wouldn't really recommend it outside of possibly staggering palm. maybe the later ones are good? The armour explosion nerf is an issue with warbringer's 10% armour break from all damage because now if the explosion does break armor, not only does it not recur, it prevents those targets from being exploded in the future. It's like anti-recursion.

Basically t6 and t11 were cutoff points like when you go through the campaign where you get a resistance penalty after each act
They removed those cutoff points and the penalties now only exist until t1 maps

Double stat effect, extra gem levels, extra quality. Double supports is okay, but you don't really need it. Really the only thing it does is allow you to have two skills with exactly the same damage support setup, which isn't usually necessary unless you really need both your clear speed and single target skills to have extra damage in exactly the same way.
Honestly, the thing I really want to ask is if anyone has found a use for the three extra skills node. Outside of that one exploiting thing where you slap in a bunch of emergency reloads, it seems completely useless. Even if you were doing an elemental weapon swap setup, you have more than enough skill slots.

how do you fully convert phys to ele? it seems like the game wants you to do that because there's tons of like ele specific dmg nodes for phys attack classes but the skills are only like 40% conversion.

Anyway the issue seems to be your raw life value is low, PoE1 was Path of Life Nodes and so they overcorrected making the skill tree for 2 and took all the life out. If you want to tank with armour you NEED to be stacking HP as hard as possible, see if you can get some gear with +life +strength since str also gives life
Honestly I think armour is in a dogshit place right now and I only managed to make it 'work' as a sorc getting a good 80% of all damage I take back as life regen over 4 seconds, which artificially inflates my HP basically (and even then I get oneshot on occasion).
Simply put, the game design is fundamentally flawed because of the rollslop they added, they overtuned some shit to encourage you to roll instead of facetanking because regen is strong enough that 'if it doesn't instakill you then you'll just outheal it!'

The real solution is that they need to cut regen and cut mob damage if they want to keep this 'muh dark souls' design because rollslop is usually 2-3 shots not 1 shots, the real resource is how many healing charges you have left.
