Bros how does armor work?
When I break armor with my gas grenade and this explode it with exploding shot, is it doing more damage because the armor is broken or does armor only reduce physical damage?
Thinking about whether I should put that one support gem that consumes broken armor for more damage on the explosive shot but this presents a dilemma because the explosion from the grenade will maybe do less damage because the broken armor is no longer there

It's all marketing. D4 bad because D3 was bad and D4 is not trying to bring back D2. PoE 2 good because GGG are based and trad and PoE 1 was (quite a long time ago) a good game that people heard about. It's not very good. Darkness is good for leveling but quickly becomes bad. ES leech is kind of shitty when there's a keystone right next to Monk that lets you use flasks to refill your ES. You don't need it anyways because shit either oneshots you or tickles you, as always, because GGG has designed an entire game around exponents and refuses to understand that that will never be a good idea for something like this.

The flames passives are unironically very powerful once you get both of them. The second passive quadruples the effective power of your purple flames, you go from having 1-2 flames at a time each giving 7% to having ~3 at a time giving 14%, you can do the math. And it turns Mantra into an insanely powerful support skill that basically just straight up gives 140% more damage. And there's similar shit going on with the healing and mana flames, they start to get very good when you double them and start stacking increased leech effect.

Since all my leech is based on physical damage did I go slightly retard here

I got frost blades, cold to fire, sweep increased fire, consecrated ground, herald of ash, herald of purity, precision

I like the range of frost blades, but would it be better to drop maces and do shattered steel or something since all thecdamage is physical and go all in on bleed and poison instead of some bleed and fire

Frost blades destroys every mob in 1 hit basically

I don't think this should be a thing btw.
I can 100% see them making it so that armour explosions can't break armour or stun.
Everything in the game is being balanced around not proliferating itself

Out of all the coc, vine arrow, hotg, lightning arrow, srs, bell ect. things I've seen this is by far the single strongest combination of skills in the game

The next patch should buff the modifier on belts for + charm slots
They also added a new Notable on the passive tree (no clue where, probably around ranger) that gives you +1 charm slots.
They vaguely stated something about "removing the error message for trying to equip more than 3 charms"
>The Charm helper text has been updated to indicate that you cannot have more than three Charm Slots unlocked, so that we can add more sources of it in the future.
So maybe it'll add a 4th one if you already have 3

ABSOLUTELY
Synthetic Legion Rising is a masterpiece, the presentation, dynamic, everything really is an absolute blast. The real killer in Synthetik is not the enemies but your own hubris, the more powerful you feel, the more fun you have, the more reckless you get the more are the odds you're going to kill yourself.

Synthetik 2 is just not all there, it looks and feels mid right now, it's slower, more ballanced and the lightning makes a pathetic boring "bzzt" instead of a deafening "BANG" it used to in S1.

Absolutely go for it, i recommend starting Breacher and stacking the chance of firing twice with the chance of firing for free on the shotguns, you're going to turn a cut-off double barrel shotgun into a runaway machingeun going BZZZZRRRRTTTTT wiping the entire screens clear of enemies and eventually it will get so runaway it kills you with overheating. Welcome to Synthetik it's amazing.

As for Synthetik 2, so far it seems that they can't catch the lighting in a bottle twice, it just doesn't feel the same.

It's not actually a thing with vidya alone either, the proliferation of global internet access has been a huge contributing factor to it and unfortunately it's very lucrative for anyone who makes money off of advertising.

There is not an easy solution to this problem outside of some shit like Great Firewall-tier region lock and most people in the tech industry won't even entertain the thought, either because they're scared of being called racist or because they're profiting off of it. It's not some big conspiracy or anything, it's just the way things are now.

If you want to fix the PoE fanbase, you have to solve world hunger. Unironically.

I'm a babby so I might be missing the point. You can get unconditional 59% res belt for 1ex on trade whereas that belt has zero res baseline. Economically it doesn't seem to add up to me if you're using charms to fill res gaps. Though I guess the ability to swap them out is really useful given you can't do that with runes.
I'm probably just missing the point entirely.

Wait I just realized if I remove the armor break then my scavenged plating aura wont work
Also its more worth to consume the armor break with explosive shot because then it does more damage and against bosses it helps to consume so scavenged plating can give extra armor again since it only lasts a few seconds
And since armor break only effects physical damage then it shouldnt make a difference for the fire damage from the explosion of gas grenade

Yes, the slow doesn't do shit.
Even if you equip the 15% Magnitude Increase support, it still doesn't do shit.
The skill could've been actually pretty good if the slow worked, as the intended slow is pretty severe, especially against the white mobs.

But Ranger is indeed pretty safe, that much is true.
She even gets a skill that allows her to escape after being completely surrounded right from level 1.

When the novelty fades, will there even be a reason to continue playing PoE 2?

The skill combo design has clearly failed and combat in general feels exactly like playing PoE 1 with our characters blasting through maps one-shotting monsters before they can one-shot us. What was even the point of wasting so much time and money developing something that, at its core, is very similar to PoE 1? The only difference is the time it takes to get super strong due to item scarcity, so whatever is the experience I'm having playing PoE 2 at the moment I can have a better one by just playing PoE 1, which sucks because I'm also tired of PoE 1.

For GGG to even make the game unique they would have to completely go back to the drawing board, but how do they even do that if their backlog is completely full with all the missing campaign acts, classes, skills, and much more which was cut out of the 0.1 version of the game. I honestly don't think this game is salvageable even with one year of updates.

The only boss in Diarrheablo 4 that actually has a mechanic (one single mechanic) is Andariel, and literally 0 people ever farm Andariel because loot tables are shared and it's faster to just kill Duriel.

Not that PoE 2 is much different. You just tranny roll once in a while and don't stand in the sludge wow such Dakr Souls skillful gameplay. Even Chris Chan beat the PoE 2 campaign.

This one really gets me because I saw more pre-release guides on this build than any other build by at least 3 times. The Raging Spirits set ups had to be the most prolific theory before EA by a fucking mile and people still act like it was some well hidden secret.

When I was a teenager I used to enjoy playing games like C&C and Total Annihilation, but instead of trying to win the game I would just sit in my base and build max pop of every unit
I would play Elite with cheats turned on and infinite money
I played 'money maps' with excess resources where players started on their own little island and had infinite time to just build all of the things and become as powerful as possible
Then Quake came out and the community modding scene used to make silly mods like rocket launchers firing 12 homing rockets that went through walls
The temporary rush of being super powerful because my numbers in the game were really high was immediately exciting to my simple teenager brain
But that rush didn't last because it soon became obvious that everything I was doing made the games shitty and meaningless, being overpowered wasn't fulfilling, eventually I grew up and got over it

So anyway, ARPG players never got past that stage of brain development

Combat feels worse than PoE1
The only good thing about it is the sense of weight.
But the targeting, hitboxes and other shit is completely fucked in this game.
Melee hits are missing cause the enemy has stepped one pixel closer, projectile flying over the small mobs heads, frost walls not working properly with regular size mobs etc etc.
Combat is clunky as fuck outside some skills/spells.
Then there is the build variety.
I've enjoyed an ability to cook whatever i wanted with every lightning spell i got in PoE1, they all felt powerful enough to be able to clear both campaign and maps untill certain point
In PoE2 you really cant do anything other than sparks untill higher levels, and the fact i cant have upgraded sparks and some other lightning spells with the same support is fucking gay.
Then there is the passive tree that sounds basically as +stat or +elemental effect/alignment/spelldamage boost.There is almost no cool stuff. Its bland and boring.
In combination all these things just kills build variety.
I have no idea why did they decided to put such a hard limitation on the builds

It's essentially a visual update to PoE1 once you hit maps and even moreso in the endgame. I didn't expect anything revolutionary or genre-defining so I'm not really disappointed by the core changes or by the things that stayed the same. The Fire Exposure, Lightning Exposure and Cold Exposure Support Gems no longer penalize Damage of Supported Skills. They now have a Mana Cost Multiplier of 120%.

There are also some notable nerfs to a few of the remaining overachieving skills:

Skeletal Arsonists Spirit costs now match the other two Skeleton Mages, this should result in a slight decrease in the number of Arsonists at a higher level.
A nerf to the damage over time component on very high levels of Tornado and Vine Arrow. These were never intended to be dealing damage themselves, but more so act as a way for other skills to propagate damage.
Magnetic Salvo can now only use your stuck Lightning Arrows as opposed to those created by your Party Members.

I've played every class now and the witch minions is by far the most disgusting. Every other class it was a horrible slog. Witch was so fucking easy I was killing bosses in 20 seconds that took me 5+ minutes on other classes. No spamming basic attack, no worrying about weapon dmg or spell dmg. It's fucking crazy how much better it is and it looks like it's not being nerfed.

And then a way to save all the specs you want so you can just switch into them whenever you want. Look at the gem, 7% base crit chance. No additional crit damage modifier.

If you want to scale it with crit you'd have to go bloodmage to buff the crit% up

Personally I'd scale it with just raw damage. Maybe splash in a poison proc but I feel like Hexblast is one of the few spells in the game that works as both clear and ST

There is a chestpiece that makes you always use charms, or effectively remove the charges from them. That means if you get this you get 30 life / hit taken. Very abusable probably but I agree it should've been far higher. Charms are a cool idea but right now they are just flacid

Chronomancer is largely defensive, with a gimmick reset for cooldowns
The current use for skills with cooldowns is to use them for a big ailment
The other is bypassing the CD alltogether like temporalis blink

Timestop is meh
Cooldown reset is irrelevant for now

She is really strong defensively though and I think some people play her with SRS with the recoup nodes + temp chain aura + slow aura

i'm also playing witchhunter, i'm at the end of act 2 lvl 35 right before the end boss. last few bosses took several tries because my dps is low and mana cost is so high I run out of flasks about 2/3 through each boss fight. I generally know what I need gear-wise but no idea where to get it if the vendors don't have it, and they never do. not being able to craft little things here or there really fucking sucks.

Blood mage is actually fucking bad.

Leech is not what you think it is.
1. Mana leech doesn't exist on the fucking tree, you can only get it as support gem FOR ATTACKS
2. You don't get 3000 health for dealing 30000 damage. All enemies have high leech resistance.
3. Having to pay Life and mana for your spells with no discount if brutal.
Sanguimancy really is a kick in the balls, it gives you no power, the hypothetical life overcap doesn't exist because in the overcapped territory neither leech nor regen apply, and the life cost of spell eats more than it gives.

The broodmage gameplay is literally just pianoing the flasks while charging up your barnstorms.

why is it that my normal bombard crossbow rolled a very high modifier for fire damage, but my advanced ones have lower modifier rolls? both phys damage and fire damage are way higher on the regular one than the higher tier ones? i don't get it. is it just a crapshoot for how high a certain item can roll, or is it determined by the quality of the items? There is no mana leech for spells in the entire fucking game! Soul thief applies to ATTACKS ONLY

The entire game is balanced for the casters to go balls out on mana regen, but blood mage has to also pay life while she's at it.

All physical damage has built in leech now. There's no leech nodes because your damage automatically leeches. It just leeches over 8 seconds instead of 4, and the point of leech nodes is to buff the amount in that time

Because it's not poe1 where you do 9999 million damage so even 0.02% bleed means instantly putting you at full hp
Leech takes longer and the damage you're putting out is lower, so you get less. The point of leech nodes is to buff it closer to poe1 values, but they don't want regen permanently keeping you at full HP so you still won't get that. You absolutely have leech though

i got to maps at 20 hours on my first (and only) character, ssfbtw so no buying op 2nd hand gear. obviously i dont remember how long it took me to reach t7 maps but considering that it takes like 1-1.5 hours to do each of the early mapping quests, it probably was at like 1 day 5 hours. i wasnt playing an op build or going particularly crazy fast either.

Any build where you hit the peak at low level and just fight to maintain it is boring.
e.g. At level 40, your monk will be wiping the whole map already; from then on, you are just trying to maintain that status quo; there is no growth.

I'm a level 30ish monk (no ascendancy yet) whos just using normal attacks with temple bell mostly. I'm doing ok, but what should I add to my build to make it better? I was using falling thunder with killing palm for a bit but it seems to have fallen off.
Also when i do ascend should i do the chataya disciple for the memes

I have never played PoE before, and my main comment on it is that the UI and explanations that the game provide are not intuitive at all. I went in completely blind. I just figured out several key aspects of the game that have been severely holding my character's power level back. I don't want to watch guides, I like building my own stuff. Yes, I made the same mistake. Poison scales off physical damage, and projectile damage. I thought I only needed +poison damage nodes and ended up being extremely weak as a result. Poison is really rough to play until you have 4 ascendancy points for the double poison stack modifier.

This whole Honour system barely functions, was it even remotely tested once before the game released?

Playing co-op with a friend. Decide to give the Trials a go.
He is playing a build with a lot more health than me.
After Relic buffs his Honour pool ends up being 4k higher than mine.
So even though we have separate Honour pools any reductions and additions still apply to both pools.
Last run he took a bunch of damage, yet I failed out of the Trial because I hit zero Honour and he still had 4k left.
So fucking retarded.

I don't see how even getting that ascendancy would help. I was at 3 stacks and my poison was doing fuck all nothing because I had no hit damage. If I wanted to build hit damage, I would just play a normal hit build, not a poison build. This shit absolutely ruins the whole purpose of a DoT build. Very lame.

minion build. 2 scepters

1: +24 extra spirit, +2 levels minion skills
2: +65% damage allies in your presence.

the spirit hit itself means im going to straight up lose an arsonist, plus 2 skill levels will also increase spirit costs so i may lose more than that, but 65% bonus damage to everything seems pretty good

Going blood magic on the Blood Mage DOUBLES THE LIFE COST! It applies AFTER the Sanguimancy, not before.
If Sanguimancy makes you pay Life and Mana for the spells, then taking Blood Magic makes you pay Life and ALSO LIFE for it.

My spells now cost 200% of their mana cost in LIFE. Oh boy I really wish the tree had a cheeky 40% life recovery rate somewhere for me to sustain this king of fun.

And to make it even worse the entire space around those travel nodes is completely useless for me, except for the, the "Life regen when stationary" looks like an absolute fucking joke.

PoE2 doesn't have half the classes that are in PoE1, the movement mechanics are different, the tree is different, the entire link structure is different, the gameplay is fundamentally different, it's a different game.

There really are too many travel nodes. There's no point bathing to over parts of the tree even if they have insane clusters, because I can always squeeze out a bit more value from my part of the tree and not have to spend 14 nodes pathing.

Like sure, I'd like to make my way over to the insane 2H damage cluster and the leech nodes, or the huge druid damage cluster. But why? There are some attack speed nodes right next to home that I haven't grabbed yet. Too much travel cost, and then not enough incentive once you get there, no matter how cool some of the clusters are.

I was really hoping that with the removal of life nodes I'd finally be able to get everything I wanted but they just replaced the life with travel nodes.
