This is especially funny for the witch since she has an entire curse just for ignoring enemy armor but if you add armor break to your skeletons you'll pretty much instabreak the armor of every enemy you fight

I think I'm doing something wrong. How do I reliably sustain maps?
I transmute then augment then regal a map then I run it. And on average I might get 6-7 Regal shards.
What should I do?

You act like there's anything wrong or bad or abnormal about having two threads. This is normal for games that are technically in the same franchise but different enough to necessitate multiple threads, especially when one is particularly popular. It's why /bbg/ was a separate thing from /dsg/ for like two years, or /rcg/ splitting off from /egg/ temporarily, or the various threads like /krg/ and /nostg/ for WoW private servers that were too popular to be included in /wpsg/.

Relax, this thread and /poeg/ will probably merge within the next couple of months. It's not a big deal.

Just bad balance. GGG has never been good at math and never will be. Completely serious, do not play this game if you like math or game design, they simply don't have anyone on staff who understands it at all. I sincerely don't believe it's possible to balance range alongside melee.
There's been too many decades of videogame where range is either overpowered in comparison or has it's damage nerfed so substantially that it's complete shit.

The build is finally online and it feels good, don't know why they have to make the early spells suck so badly that you're going to struggle bigly until you get them. Frost Wall and Comet plus some of the T2 support gems have turned my cold witch from underperforming to nuking the screen. Also minions are a meme and should be discarded in favor of spell damage. Wish I had done this ages ago. Blood mage finally feels good with giga overheals and boosted energy shields.

I think I'm going to enjoy maps.

That’s what happened with me for warrior, pretty much just doing normal attacks until I got my spike with this. Now I’m doing double the dps and I can kill most bosses with a single sunder (with aftershocks) when I heavy stun them

Arsonists aren't good either. You use them because they're fire (like SRS of which you use flammability). If SRS was cold, you'd use the cold mage or whatever those low-level cold skellies are called. You never even use their command ability either yet such are decent and worth using (e.g. cold mage). I'm tempted to reroll off of SRS. A shame since I love summoners in all ARPG and are amongst my most played in Poo1 but it feels like such trash in Poo2. Oh and the visual clarity is far worse with this build and Poo2 is already horrific for it. Incredibly messy and ugly game (good job GGG not learning from Poo1).

Poe1 basline skeletons have been a complete joke for as long as I can remember, because every time a minion did well (SRS, skeleton mages) they'd get hit with the nerf stick, but skeleton warriors would never get buffed and would sometimes even get nerfed as collateral. Cast on shock is a spirit gem. You get your first one at the King of mists in act 1. You can convert that to a cast-on shock. When you socket it, be sure to socket an actual skill gem ability next to it so it knows what to cast when shocks happen, otherwise it will tell you you don't have enough spirit even though you may have enough. Just some default error I guess.

Yes that is how mapping works in poe 1
Also look for high tiers in your gear
For instance if you are trying to craft your gear to have max life and it rolls something like +25 life then its trash because thats a tier 2 compared to rolling +100 life which is a tier 5 I think
The higher the tier the more valuable the stat is on the item and you can see this tier by pressing alt on your item and to the right there will be something like T5 notation
Hope this helps you anon! This is where you start trading on the poetrade website, buying what you need and selling what you find/crafted/no longer use to other peeps
This is what alot of people say is the most enjoyable part of poe. Getting that new piece of gear after hours of grind just for an extra 1% damage increase so you can finally do a higher tier map

I just realized you can effectively run two Persistent Skills for the low price of 30 base spirit, as long as you're using both weapon sets, and that seems to be mostly by design.
You won't be getting the whatever "stacks" you're supposed to be getting from the aura, but when you swap off it to the set it's not enabled for - you won't be losing the stacks you've accumulated so far.
And there's a lot of stuff that works in this way.

For example, you can have Wind Dancer on your main weapon set and Plague Bearer on your off-weapon set.
You will have to be on the "correct" weapon set to accumulate Stages for Wind Dancer and store poison on Plague Bearer, but you can switch your weapons freely.
And even if you're on the "wrong" set, as long as your Stages are up - you'll have the evasion buff. And as long as you have stored enough poison, you'll be able to press Poison Nova even on the "wrong" set.
You can even have Raging Spirit on your off-set, and the skulls won't disappear if you swap after casting them.

So it's not like you're getting to benefit from two full-time auras the same way as you would've if you spent more Spirit on them, but for quite a few skills you can get about 80% of their effect almost for "free".

I've only been playing for a few years, I don't know all the history, that looks a lot like what was done for Poe1 where I'd look over the patch notes and the most notable balance changes were taking sledgehammers to certain things.

Now if haste just meant attack speed increase then it would be fine because ranged is meant to keep distance and melees are meant to tank

i just started playing and i don't understand why i do so little damage against a level 3 boss. did i already fuck something up in 2 levels? i only had a choice of 2 skills as a warrior, i guess boneshatter is the bad one? and the one you get at level 1 is also bad?

That's exactly my problem with the whole philosophy. The idea of "nerf things to a baseline and then buff them" only works when if you do the second bit. Which from the few years I've been playing, seems pretty rare. Or GGG hates me and its specifically the archetypes I play that they never buff which is certainly possible and also a result of this philosophy - because developers are obviously going to be very weary of just going ham and buffing summons across the board for fear of D2 "I'm going to jack off on my second monitor while my skeletons clear the map for me" gameplay.
Incrementally buff and nerf things. If you need to nerf something, look for something in the archetype that is underperforming which can be buffed. Eventually you reach a baseline somewhere roughly in the middle of the extremes and if at that point you can say the archetype is universally too strong or too weak, THEN you can do your "we just reduced/increased the damage on everything". But I don't think Poe1 has ever really been in a place where summoners are over achieving regardless of which summons you use, right? Its always been a case of a few outliers that perform really well while the rest of the kit kind of sucks.

Normal is RNG as fuck. Level a few characters through it even knowing what to do without funneling resources and anyone will see it.

Cruel is infinitely easier than normal solely because even with the absolute worst possible luck you can fix any character up on cruel with your assured resources at that point then cruise through it with some kind of actual build.

There was a brief moment where mage skellies could clear all content on 5c and a dream, but it got crushed the next league. The problem with minions is also always that aside from extreme outliers like Blight league being tailor made for them they're always by default worse than most other builds because they have to deal with AI problems so clear speed almost always lags behind.

That's not even mentioning the misery of AG+Specter management.

I stumbled on it by accident I just thought the skeleton mages seemed cool, chucked some basic bitch supports on it and it was absolutely sick, most fun I had with summoning in Poe1. No fun allowed. Drop the gas grenades for just regular explosive grenades. It doesn't make sense to run both because you can't put the important support skills in both and explosive grenades have nicer interactions with explosive shot while looking cooler
Fun tip is to put Martial Tempo in the explosive grens, it speeds up the recovery after firing them which lets you fire explosive shot faster so that you can air-burst them right in front of your face instead of them flying past mobs

I run both oil and flash because they're good control for melee and ranged respectively. If you're fighting fast melee you throw oil first because it blows up on contact, put Main+Encumberance on the oil grenades and it acts as an instant big slow to keep stuff off you. Flash grens use extra stun and you throw them at ranged to stop them shooting

It's gemling galvanic shards / shockburst rounds focusing entirely on juicing up shock as much as possible, while proccing electrocute off of herald of thunder and lightning exposure from cast on shock proccing ball lightning
With gemling I can get 30% quality on herald which means every kill you get 6 shots worth of lightning strikes, and because galvanic hits literally every enemy in the pack due to beams chaining you insta electrocute every pack you come across since you essentially hit each mob with 10+ lightning strikes per shot of galvanic, and then killing any of them instantly refills your lightning strikes. The build excels at clearing maps due to the constant proccing of herald of thunder, so it's not as good at bossing but still shits out damage with shockburst rounds due to the huge damage multiplier we get from shock especially when combined with voltaic mark, lightning exposure and conductivity.

The changes this patch do mostly buff it, i still have to see if they actually touched galvanic/shockburst but the overall change of removing the damage penalties from the electrocute and lightning exposure support gems is already a decent buff. (the 25% harder electrocute change doesn't matter since we go completely overkill on how much electrocute buildup we have as is)

They completely redid minions so that you also need affixes on your own gear and tree just to make them stay alive or do damage rather than gem levels being enough and further bonuses being gravy. Minion builds now need to solve player defense, minion defense, and minion damage when before it was just staying alive and getting minion levels. This is why SRS became the only minion build left standing that was actually good because you could just ignore minion defense entirely. Mage skellies in particular got nerfed a few times already and Kalandra nerfed them AGAIN with all the other minion gem level nerfs. Thus the sad state of permanent minions especially anything that can;t leverage everything available like Reaper. Shit Reaper is even more dead after settlers with the bleed changes.

There are 4 spells, Bonce cage and Bone Storm are actually good. Unearth and Bone Blast are worthless, the numbers are just too small.

But the problem is that Bone Storm costs 300 LIFE AND MANA PER SECOND. I invested into my life regen, but I don't have the fucking mana to cast shit. Tried respecing cast speed into mana regen, now i have the life and mana but don't have the DPS, the mobs swarm and destroy me.

Bone Witch kit really is incomplete. Bone Cage is actually good, Bone storm is good but it's a channeling spell. They need to make a DPS version of Unearth, something that just quickly and efficiently attacks in front of you.

Vine Arrow has some absolutely retarded scaling. On the "intended" build for it (Poison Ranger) it does almost no damage and is just meant to amplify your poisonburst/toxic growth/gas arrow damage, but past gem level 20 it randomly gains exponential scaling for every gem level so peopleecelebs were going Gemling and using it to deal billions of damage in seconds
The real reason to be mad here is that GGG somehow made such a fucking stupid error in the first place

Minion sac skill is actually really cool, 40% more damage on perfect strike and my posse of minions following me around and body blocking for my insanely slow wind ups while giving me an obscene damage boost is actually really cool
I just hope they bring back iron mass, having a weapon that got you into the realm of diminishing returns on minion increased damage but requiring you to be melee is a really cool idea

on my deadeye I had an offhand bow to fire gas arrows as an alternative because they're usable in different situations but gas arrow is overpowered on ignite so that will probably get killed

The fact that people are already in yellow maps is a joke on the design team
The fact that pinnacle bosses are already killed and people have found infinite damage builds is not a good thing
They could always buff this stuff or add stuff later and let people slow burn the game for the 6 months so they can slowly gather feedback and make adjustments to the skills and systems and leave some space for powercreep in future leagues

It's fine if 99% of the playerbase doesn't reach maps until the end of week 3

The problem with voltaic nades is that when most of your damage comes from bolt skills it feels like ass to invest into grenades, grenades are just way too shit without investing into them in the skill tree.

There's two problems
>1. Your main source of single target DPS is from shockburst rounds which is locked till level 12 gems (so basically cruel act 1)
>2. the damage from these bolt skills scale super hard off of your weapon DPS

basically the initial campaign experience is miserable, but once you get going in cruel act 1 and buy a good cbow for a couple exalt you just fly through the rest of the game.

I only just got into maps. It seems way easier to get increased evasion/armor than it is to get res though. I've got a bunch of nodes around me that are like +12% armor+evasion that I haven't picked up yet, and I'm struggling to get my resistances I've somehow ended up with 20% overcap cold res but that's only due to exalt gamba going very very wrong

I started playing Witch wanting to play EDC
Realized there was no ascendancy for chaos dot at all so went Infernalist for the defenses and maybe do something with Low Life
Realized they gutted all the classic chaos dot supports like controlled destruction ect. and the majority specifically states "Spell Hits and Ailments"
It was barely ok.
Hexblast is apparently pretty good but I wanted to do a classic EDC because the playstyle itself is really satisfying (I also liked D3 Witch Doctor Locus Swarm stuff)

The supports just aren't there.
The gear isn't there.
The ascendancies aren't there.
I guess Chayula might be good for Hexblast?

boneshatter is the good one.
Auto attack until mobs have circle aboce them then into bone shatter.
Boost auto damage and stun build up, hit a mob 1 or two times then boneshatter for huge AoE.
rolling slam into boneshatter is also ok for groups.
use auto and perfect strike on bosses when you get it.
Shield charge is nice, totem can be nice in some situations. warcry is ok.
for like half the game auto + boneshatter is your go to, then some skills are situationally good, people saying you only auto for 90% of the game are just bad desu, perfect strike does way more damage if you time it right.

If you have raging spirits then Cast on Minion Death is way more efficient than Cast on Ignite, fyi
you could even force them to die faster by using the right support (there's two of them that help with that, Infernal Legion and the one that make them detonate on low life), should not be a big loss for you dps-wise since you are not spe minion, and minion is how raging spirits scale their damage

You're saying that because you expected another PoE1 patch made for you. GGG didn't make EA the way it is now for PoE1 players, they made it to reel in casual gamerdads who have never touched it, and it worked. We see it as watered down PoE1 because noobs would have quit in droves after the first weekend if they didn't take out all the autism mechanics that needed 10 tabs open on Firefox before you could even start playing.

They'll reintroduce all that shit and more gradually so it's not that big of a deal. The direction they're heading in is obvious from seeing all the chase uniques getting revealed
