Holy shit now I understand why people hate sanctum. From the third part onwards it gets retarded. Was absolutely shitting on everything in this run for my third set of points, until literally the very last room before the last boss I get a time trial that included some fuckoff tanky monster of a rare that spammed the entire screen full of shit and made me lose like 80% of my honor. Then I get hit by a poison stinger from the boss and just die. 30+ minutes down the drain and I'm dreading doing this again.

For me its the one where its all traps and levers, forget what that specific part of sanctum was called but it was the last room for me too
The fucking traps needed you to stand still exactly in a square just big enough for your char to stand in and if you deviate by even an inch too soon you lose so much honor
Now imagine that but its a giant hallway filled with little squares you have to stand in waiting for your next chance to move and you not only have to move forward but also go all the way back once you activate the lever
Why am I platforming in an arpg? It makes no sense

Probably not but I am going to try an archer squad that will suck because the nodes are on opposite ends of the trees.
Also going to try a smashy minion build which is probably better using Brutes and melee.

the endgame is so fucking bad, so god damn boring and uninteresting that i think i might quit early before my opinion of the game is soured any more. i guess this was inevitable when there's no fun league mechanic to keep my adhd-riddled brain occupied but it feels like they copied the poe 1 atlas, turned it into an "interactive" map and made it more cumbersome and more boring as well. it's like a role reversal where poe 1 had a dogshit campaign and great endgame and poe 2 has a great campaign and a dogshit endgame.

Watching meta videos corrupted my view of this game. I keep comparing my shitty self made leveling builds to their kill speed despite knowing its a silly comparison. The only thing that shreds while leveling so far from my testing was crit ice monk.

The combat is too shitty if you aren't screen clearing. The fun poe1 mechanics are boring in this slower combat. My build doesn't 2 shot bosses so when they start 1 shooting me later in maps and my portals close, my opinion of the game is going to plummet. Fucking dark souls making this one-shot bullshit the new norm, I regret complaining about the poe1 oneshots...which were mostly on mobs and at least our fucking maps didn't close after one death.

poe2 was advertised as le game with le complex combat and le situational skill usage but as monk you have 5 auras, 1 buff, 1 generic dps skill, 1 single target bonus damage skill and 1 slot that is either mobility or more single target dmg

Gear must be stacked. And even then this is a t7 map where if he was running a lightning dead eye he would be one shotting everything even with mediocre gear. But yeah I guess you can make any build work if you have GG gear.

I use rapid fire mainly to do damage to the boss and the others to kill ads. They're all level 8 or 9 skills
I have 2 crossbows one has +1 bolt and the other has +% physical damage. I mainly use the first one just to shoot the explosive shot. the other one is something like 50-89 damage and I use it for everything else.

Absolutely agree. Destroy the socketed rune and slot in a new one just makes far more sense in every way. It's so fucking ridiculous to get your resistances set up and then upgrade a piece and be forced to readjust the rest of your gear around it when being able to shift 12% ele to something else would just alleviate the issues immensely. Right now weapons largely only use iron runes too.

You can't realistically tank late game. Most enemies are no danger to you on the bare minimum defenses (capped res and uninvested armours that're just on tier) but the enemies that can kill you will kill you through any amount of survivability that the playerbase has discovered so far.

Ghost Dance does almost the exact same thing as Darkness. I have 5k evasion right now, I'd be gaining 250 ES every two seconds with Ghost Dance. I have 4
500 Darkness that regens every five seconds, or 250 every 2 seconds. It's the same exact thing, except Ghost Dance scales even better in the future when i can get like 10k evasion. The only advantage to Darkness is that it'll work if you literally get oneshot.

We datamined it already, the "mace" animations are called Sword in the files. Those are the sword animations we've been playing with.

The reason swords and axes aren't done/shown at all yet is because GGG clearly plans on just copy pasting all the mace skills and changing them to bleed etc instead of stun. There will be Rolling Slash that is identical to rolling slam except it has shwing noises instead of thud noises.

Swords and axes have been in recent betas and they were identical to maces in every way except for slight idle stance difference, the swings were the same.

If they planned on doing something amazingly better/different to maces they would've prioritised that to show in early access as clearly swords are an easier sell than maces. They didn't cause they're not any different.

This is the blackpill you need to swallow, we ARE playing poe2 melee at it's finest already. Swords will be WORSE than maces because of the lack of AOE and stun on the same attacks.

I don't remember nigger that was over a week ago.
I think I had frost bolt and nova and bomb. Uncapped garbage res probably around 10-20% and maybe like 600hp, blue equips and I think at that point I still had a terrible weapon.
Maybe cold snap too? My damage was not amazing, either way the boss telegraphs everything so obviously.

Currently my biggest gripe is that grinding maps there is very little to look forward to.
A lot of the end-game content is locked behind singular items to open up portals to endgame content. I've gotten 30/30 atlas passive points but I am not quite feeling like I am working towards anything anymore.
Granted, I'm playing SRS + Arsonists (because demon form was bugged on launch and I hardswapped from my original plan (EDC) to this).

In PoE1 the bosses were trivial, but you sort of pathed around the map to incorporate or end at the boss
Now, along with the far larger maps and less movement (even with blink) it feels like I'm just farming 1 big empty map with mobs.
I'm running the +1-2 mods on rares and duped rares and once I got a few upgrades they just started dying as easily as white mobs again and it felt like poe1.

They finally added cool bosses and now they are rare. I think the mapping would be a lot more fun if bossing was just an every-map experience, with maybe nodes with "superbosses" where it turns them into pinacle boss equivalents or something.

you arent. doing another weapon usually is an off stat weapon (like a shield to block) and it requires a shit ton of an off stat attribute which you wont have. about the only class that can use it is gemling because one of his ascendancies give him the ability to meet attribute requirements with any attribute.

One of my problems so far with mapping is that the incentives don't line up. If I put tablets in towers, I want to explore all around one area, load the tablets up, and then run the juiced maps. But pinnacle bosses encourage you to instead just beeline into the void hoping to find anything relevant, it's really a mismatch.

I think it has potential though
In fact when I finally got used to the items drop being scarcer, when they buffed it to the point where it was just poe1 loot but without the crafting it feels kinda shit again.
I don't think balancing the game around a loot filter and endgame farming around generic map rares is the play here
It just feels bland, unseasoned.
And then you have stuff like king of the mists or logbooks, but also breachstones and simulacrums which are the complete opposite again where you need to pick up 300 crumbs to get a single attempt.
It's like the worst of both sides.
The sanctum and trialmaster bosses are fine though

it just feels really janky right now and I hope they are going to play around with it

don't listen to anon, demon form is secretly overpowered. there's no regen on the tree, step one is to kill your life pool with 2x ming's heart and ghostwrithe. step two is to pick up 20+hp regen boots, helm, neck, and gloves. that should sustain you to around 90 stacks before you have to start rolling flasks, can get to around 130-150+ from there. the real benefit is the mobility demon form offers you though, never mind that you have 1800% increased spell damage.

Question to my poison pathfinder bros - what skill should I be socketing comorbitity into and focusing on poison application for? I thought poisonburst arrow at first but the mana cost makes it hard to spam, plus I see a bunch of "poison on hit" nodes that seem useless if you're focusing on a skill with 100% chance to poison.

i do find it concerning how shitty some things are though, a lot of the flaws in the game are something you would notice instantly in a playtest. theres no way anyone at ggg clicked the lever in augury, got stunned for 5 seconds, died and then decided that this is a good mechanic. so whats going on?
a lot of systems in the endgame are also going to need complete overhauls because they were designed in a way that just doesnt work. breach and ritual are the exact opposite of how poe2 is intended to play out, being swarmed by enemies results in "screenclear or get oneshot" style gameplay instead of meaningful slow combat. why did they even choose them in the first place instead of something like betrayal, which spawns a small number of unique enemies that you can carefully fight?

There are solutions here that could work

I'm hoping that these are just their first itteration of a test build ascendancies and that they will get overhauled as well. A lot of them don't really make that much sense either
Traveler's Wisdom from Pathfinder seems like a filler
The same goes for Bloodmage and Chayula breach energy pickups, or meditate from Invoker
Bloodmage again getting infinite curse duration. I'm not sure why that would have anything to do with the rest of the theme of the mage, which leads me to think that it's probably part of the 3rd witch ascendancy that's probably balanced around runic invocations, curses and chaos damage that they are just testing.

It feels really bad losing a map node's modifiers to a death but at the same time I understand that if they didn't do that, people would be killing themselves intentionally to reset good nodes. Losing the map item mods should be punishment enough but they can't get rid of the system. But the system already introduces other issues like the sheer inefficiency of irradiating shit in the first place after you've fucking cleared up to it.

It just feels very poorly designed to begin with that it's in this spot where there's no good answers.

I doubt it. His interviews from ages ago have him monologuing on the corners they had to cut to release the first game. A lot of what makes poe 2 so bad were the very things his other team members slashed from the code. So in a way it was chris wilson who nearly killed poe, but had his ass saved by the unnamed team member who restrained his autism.

I used to be an ssf friend too. But when I actually put in a small amount of effort I realised trading is fun and allows you to make so many more builds and reach content that would take forever in ssf. SSf is fun but trading is great, especially with the currency exchange which removes one of the most annoying parts.

People using the magma (not really a spell) mace swing that bounces off of walls with ice wall to shotgun the projectiles exploding
Fireball seems pretty good
Solar Orb is a good ignite + immolate and exposure enabler

Honestly, looking over it, there just aren't that many fire spells actually.
There might be something in Flameblast ignite with the fact you can now cast while moving

Yes. The great thing about having 1800% spell power is that you can get ALL es nodes. I currently have about 7.5k ES with the demon dog mitigation as well in gear with basically no additional ES, I couldn't find anything good enough that also capped out my res. Grim feast will bring you up to double that.

it's been one week, not a single strooooomer has played pathfinder, they all just copy whatever jungle ryan or alk does and then complain when it gets nerfed
they do not try jack shit
the builds in poe2 are not as "figured out" as people think
you can theorycraft but it requires more effort to see what can be done in game with various uniques and spell combos

of course it's rather annoying to try shit out in poe2 since the campaign is long

No. I usually switch out at around 150 stacks, but I've been thinking about picking up life flask nodes and swapping to a lower level life flask that will regen for longer so I can keep it up for even more. Demon form also moves incredibly quick, if you dash everywhere you move about 180% faster by my rough stopwatch estimates. Very easy to dodge attacks too.

How much regen would you need to infinite sustain anything up to 1000 stacks?
it's 0.5% hp / second directly to HP that cannot be mitigated by things like recoup or damage delay right?
and I think poison is now the only thing that damages through ES so you want 100% reduced poison duration

It's also max life instead of current life I think so I highly doubt reservations will matter.
The only uniques that reduce maximum life are
>20% x2, Ming's Heart
>20-30% Eye of Chayula
>20% Carnage Heart
>25% Couture of Crimson

so realistically you could go for
2x mings heart + eye of chayula + couture for 95% reduced maximum life.
Lets say you have like 1000 life, you'd have 50 life
At 1000 stacks you degen 500% of your max life per second so you'd need only need 250 life / second to outsustain 1000 demon form stacks

Because if that is the problem then their solution hasn't fully addressed the problem. The just lowered the energy generation. While it might be impossible to hit that threshold to trigger recursive comets it's still possible and will probably happen again with power creep or when someone figures out a new build for it.

Yes, only those three uniques. I really don't recommend more since you need every bit of resistance you can scrounge, I just barely hit 76% allres (including chaos) with none over cap. I've considered carrying around a call of the brotherhood for breach though, I think the conversion would help enable cast on freeze options that would improve survivability a lot in t16 juiced breaches. Maybe you could work something out with swapping out one mings for call of the brotherhood and using one of the unique necks instead, or maybe you could throw on a three dragons, or maybe you could just use ice nova, or maybe you can cook some other weird build up. Everything works and the world is your oyster, just don't get me nerfed please.

Our characters might not carry into next month, none the less standard. There isn't any content lock out or rewards to achieve. the amount of shitty innocuous looking (or unnavoidable) meme abilities that one shot you is significantly worse than PoE 1 and it starts happening almost immediately after you start mapping.
Then they decide it's a good idea to make even the the most basic end game content (mapping) require a limited resource (even if it's plentiful, under ideal circumstances) and only allow 1 attempt if you die.

poe 1 at least let you down slowly and gave you time to still play so you can fix your build or get better gear.

The tree honestly isn't important, it's mostly ES related nodes. I path to the right side to pick up enhanced wither and to make freeze based on ES, and I pick up ES stun threshold nodes. You could probably cut all the damage nodes from the tree since it doesn't matter once you start rolling up stacks, but it's nice to not be a total wet noodle in the first few seconds of demon form. It would enable things like picking up more flask nodes, curse nodes, ES nodes, minion bulk nodes to make your dog last longer, whatever makes you happy, but I prefer this for now. You could also cut the ES regen nodes since the deadliest parts of the game you're almost entirely reliant on grim feast, but the recovery one in the middle is important for that still at least. There's also ONE life regen+manaregen node to the left of the spiral you could consider picking up that would make your stacks last a little longer if you want that.

You're underestimating the sheer quantity of Timmies still playing the campaign because they heard PoE 2 is a "good" game and bought the game recently, but once the novelty fades no one will be returning to the game to play new updates or leagues unless GGG completely redesigns the game.

It's amazing how GGG failed even at their plan of making players use skill combos due to how the game won't give you enough room to actually use your skills, becase while your character is "playing PoE2" all the monsters are still "playing PoE 1" against you.

I played ssf in poe1 because there was actual crafting strategy there. There is no strategy in poe2 and it would be 1000% more tedious to progress.

I tried it for a meme to trigger barrier invocation and build up stacks of lightning warp, but it's too much of a meme and actively kills you if you pick it. I have all 4 ascendancies completed and only actually used the first two, you could go to the left and pick up more spirit or ES if you want but you have to path over 3% increased health nodes and you have to decide for yourself if that's worth it.

For chaos damage is it worth getting the improved wither nodes before the all the +chaos damage nodes you intend to get?
Effigy + Wither is an easy way to get max wither stacks up, but for the sake of general mapping it seems like I should wait on those nodes.
I know most the chaos damage nodes are just +7% while the wither is +10% but I don't really feel pressured into dropping effigy on most enemies unless rare/boss.

To be fair, most people aren't playing CI ES stacking meme builds and I can see the logic in not wanting to pigeon hole people into taking 200% increased life from the tree for every other build. Chronomancer temporal rift (underrated ability, basically a full heal every 5 seconds and more), and energy barrier support with flameblast, which I spam. I'm running crit flameblast. Could also work with boneshatter or another channeling skill, I'm pretty sure an ES boneshatter build would be nuts. I'm only up to t13s but I'm very tanky here.

Energy barrier is pretty insane, especially since you can reset with temporal rift if you lose too much ES without getting stunned. I think people don't understand energy barrier because you can socket it in spirit gems and it does nothing. But you need to put it in a channeling gem, then it actually works.

It's probably not as good as meta builds but I've been developing this build myself since release and it's been extremely fun.

I use these boots to avoid getting killed during stuns, plus the freeze reduction is nice.

anyone else find a way to get rid of the massive frametime lag from loading new chunk/zones/enemy spawns? it wasn't as bad until i got like 35% movement speed and now its really noticeable

I used the F1 overlay to see what the fuck is happening and right now my CPU is the bottleneck whiles standing around at 11ms, it spikes to 12, but the network and shader seems to cause the hitches, i dont fucking know.
i have a 4090 and a 5700x, 1440p with a fps cap at 144 or so, but this shit barely hits 80 fps

The level resets if you go back for 15 minutes. Going back to disenchant your loot and back into the level is fine.

When you die the respawning mobs give you more XP to farm. Pack density was literally the most expensive and most valuable stat in POE1, each mob can drop an exalt or s divine orb for you, you can get a 4-link or a 5ex unique belt and trade for gear, killing the mobs if what you fucking want.

I don't want to farm them, I want to get back to where I was before I killed the fucking boss and not have to spend 20 minutes clearing the 5 miles between those 2 points. I also do not want the fucking map to reset after clearing it fully and the quests send me back there to find I don't even know where I am anymore.

Lightning warp / ball lightning is actually quite fast if you get some projectile speed, and you can get 9% on jewels, and obviously there's the 40% more gem. You can add scattershot so it fires 3 balls, that way you'll usually have something to jump to even if 1-2 balls hit terrain. You can also jump to one ball, then jump to another. You can travel quite fast like this. It's janky but kinda fun since you can fire balls, then cast a spell, then jump and shit like that.

And they usually aren't in another instance, except for the venom caves, and even that didn't respawn the enemies for me, maybe because it was less than 15 minutes
