I suffer from an inflamatory bowel disease, which when it flares up i have to urgently get up from my chair and run straight to the bathroom, this is several times a day, sometimes up to 13 when it's pretty bad. This has prevented me from playing a lot of games, it may sound silly but I've been penalized on several online games for "leaving" matches or "AFKing" when in reality im fighting for my life in the toilet. I've been enjoying POE2 so much and Im just thankful that I can just pause the game when I have the urgency.

does "less skill effect duration" mean that the effect has a shorter duration but the same amount of damage is applied (6k damage in 3 seconds rather than 4, etc) or does it just shorten the timer (6k damage in 4 seconds or 4k in 3 seconds, etc)?

Anyone else really disappointed with the voice acting in PoE2?
95% of characters are "le generic accent voice" and it's just fucking annoying. Compare Balbala to Izaro or the floor 4 sanctum boss to Sirus. It's genuinely pathetic how much of a downgrade it is.

They were really scared of making molten blast good huh. Molten Blast doesn't shotgun on contact with more projectiles (but does shotgun if the main balls explode on the ground), too bad you cant aim where they land, would make the skill godly.

I wanted to try a Physical attack bloodmage but all its modifiers are for spells. If it were PoE1 they'd be generics.

They know, but you just aren't in their Vision of the game.
The Vision is a mix of bows and spells. If a spell gets too strong, they nerf it and everything surrounding it so even non-meta builds get wrecked. If a bow gets too strong, they nerf melee movement abilities.

Focus on chaos and skill/spell speed nodes. Hexblast or essence drain are decent dps if you build around them.

they give "free" mtx from challenges, mostly armor sets, character effects and portals, but there's been a few pets too.
we'll probably get a set of challenges for the first EA league, probably sometime in january.

Yeah, so far the best way to play this shit is hexblast+despair+impending doom. ED is garbage, this spell is bad at everything. It's shit even as additional DoT on bosses because it's beter to not waste cast time on it and just spam hexblast with despair.

I think with a billions of currency and time it's possible to make melee chonk with CoC Hexblast and mantra of destruction. There is cool unique which converts 100% of your elemental damage into chaos damage but it costs 140 FUCKING EXALTED ORBS. If that unique effect was in chonk ascendancy, that would fix everything.

I’m 99% certain there won’t be any EA leagues. Leagues start with 1.0

Wont be deleted EA will just have a different standard league than on launch.
When it launches there will be 3 months temperory leagues where majority of players play, it’s a fresh restart everytime. And when those ends they get moved to a permanent standard league.
Some players do play standard but its like 1-3%

They scaled everything back initially to reel in more noobs who will get turned off if they have to rely on 10 tabs open on their phones before they can play the game properly like in PoE1. PoE2 will end up that way eventually but it's easier to get casuals to buy into that routine if they do it gradually.

My conclusion when I finished Cruel is that they should nerf the campaign to be even harder because if unoptimized launch shit comes online in Act 4 then by the time 4/5/6 come out they will be braindead when they should be even harder than Acts 1/2/3.
I unironically think I will intentionally weapon-basic-attack the act 4/5/6 bosses, because my shitty shotgun merc was basically doing that for 1/2/3 and I REALLY enjoyed those fights.

these people are not even focusing on the real issue. the way you deal with a challenge that requires more than you have in an arpg is just to farm more until you can trivialize the content. that's literally the way it works. however the fact that you can't level gems in poe2, drops are extremely scarce, and crafting is just iding with extra steps, makes that much harder.

there are two factors here. first, the people passionate enough about the game to actually complain about it will not quit so quickly. they want to enjoy the game, but they can't in the current state, so they try to change it instead. if that fails, they will eventually quit.
second, the "silent majority" are the people playing a couple of hours a day who are still playing through the campaign. the overwhelming opinion is that the campaign is ok, not everybody loves it, but overall it is a good experience. once they reach engame, expect most of these people to abandon the game completely.

NTA but if you're rolling in currency you can do double crossbow and set up weapon set points for nades. Triple gas and oil nades would do pretty well on bosses. I don't think there's any way around it you gotta use nades in some form to have a competent crossbow build right now. Shots just kinda suck.

Unsure what he's rolling with for Explosive Shot as I couldn't get it fast enough for my liking. Maybe if I can get a nice high attack speed roll on a good crossbow later I'll give it another shot.

The problem is that the 'game' portion they're still enjoying isnt the bulk of the game. GGG doesn't want players who treat this like a one off campaign game. They want player retention, cosmetic sales, etc. Once more casuals get to maps they will get filtered and quit.

The last time I used a bolt skill that wasn't explosive shot was normal act 2 galv shards since it's just a better frag round for clearing groups, and through the whole act that was the only useful bolt skill I had besides high velocity for tankier mobs. Then not much later grenades started to shine despite me not even building my passives into them. They're just so much stronger and you're much safer with them. I have been persistent in trying to make bolt skills work and even originally built into them but so many of them are terrible. Feels like something is missing inbetween having to reload constantly and being slowed down while firing while later act mobs get faster and throw more shit at you. Rapid shot for example is irredeemably bad for no reason at all, and armor piercing rounds aren't much better.

Early on you can just pick relevant damage on the passive tree and it goes pretty far. It's only in the endgame that you gotta figure out some defenses or you start to get fucked in the ass.

Below is some beginner tips if you want them.
Be on the lookout for items with +life and resistances. If a magic item only has one mod and it's life or res you can augment it to hopefully hit the other one. Staying somewhat up to date on life and res on your gear goes a long way.

Pick up superior items and items with sockets and salvage them on the salvage bench in town once you unlock it in act 1.

My personal recommendation is that you vendor useless blue items and disenchant rares. This way you get decent gold and regal shards.

It means that item is guaranteed to roll mods that are t2 or higher. No t1 mods. Only on identify though. It doesn't keep that property for crafting.

Same and they just don't work. Awful gimmicks, low numbers and not enough reward for trying to play them as they were designed to be played.

I respecced to bleed with the plan to use High Velocity to pop armor break for big bleeds. I ended up spamming Frag because it does pretty much the same damage up close and also works as clear with Flash nade supplementing it.

I usually play spellcasters or rangers. I tried melee for the first time. It's fucking ASS. Holy shit. Act 1 with the enemies that leave pools of blood is so fucking annoying. And the last boss in the Act was so cancer. I basically had to get a lucky roll on my flask so I get charges x second and I had to just outlast him.

I've not come across a single difficult boss yet
I'm not overleveled, I'm not overgeared
the mechanics are just obvious and easy to figure out
the only issue I've seen with bosses is, most of them are bugged as fuck
some notable examples

>king in the mist
routinely stands in the middle of the totem so you can't hit him
also places totems in the middle of the totem so you can't hit them
sometimes bugs out so his one shot purple orb appears next to you when it was on the other side of the arena a second ago because somehow its attached to his line of sight and if he turns it flash jumps to the direction he turns
>silverfang
the swing attack doesn't hit you even if you're right on top of it
the slam attack hits you even if you're well outside of its visual AOE
the slam attack also tends to pierce objects like trees and ruin
>blackjaw
mini silverfang
one shot AOE that hits you even if you're outside of visual distance

I have many more examples but thats enough for now

it seems like GGG is getting confused and has mistaken brokenness for difficulty
it is not fun to fight bosses that do not do what they advertise with their telegraphing and other visual cues. this is not difficulty. this is you looking for cheap ways to inconvenience the player and actually takes enjoyment out of the game

fix the damn bugs, fix the damn aoes not matching the visual cues, and increase the bosses attack + movement speed or something to make them legitimately challenging

I think my biggest problem with PoE2 is that getting to endgame is such a slop. Campaign in 1 just felt like a tutorial and you could really get any dumbass build to endgame once you knew a very minimal amount of the game.

I have a question about resistance to element calculations:
Let's say I'm fighting a enemy with 100 cold resist, and I have 80% cold penetration, and I also have a curse on the enemy that puts -37% cold res on it, what's the actual final cold res on it by the time damage is calculated? Is it (100*(1-0.8))-37= -17%, Or is it (100-37)*(1-0.8)= 12.6?

Also, what about the Invoker Monk's "Sunder my Enemies" which reads "crit hits ignore non-negative elemental resistances? Does that mean any negative res applied to the enemy will subtract from 0 on critical hits?

Either Chronomancer or Stormweaver. Deadeye doesn't have much melee scaling except for Tailwind and there are no poison melee skills so Pathfinder is useless.

Chronomancer allows you to be very tanky and make better use of hammer of the god, Stormweaver allows you to do cool shit with the elemental melee skills.

The ground sort of darkens while moving. I guess it's because the motion blur tries to blur every pixel on the moving ground. It's not very noticeable in normal gameplay but once I noticed it in town it started to bother me lol. But I dislike motionblur in general so it's probably more of a personal issue.

I don't really have a good feel for how much resistances enemies tend to have, but I assume any monster that has a low enough resistance that I could lower it into the negative with nodes and stuff probably is too weak to be worth the investment, no? Also, I feel like the whole point of that ascendancy is precisely so you can basically ignore res reduction and pen nodes and double dip into the crit nodes....

What is confusing? Buy the currency one and gem one absolutely they're lifechanging. Then either a quad premium, premium 6 piece combo (with honey mustard) or the map tab but you'll have to go the site for it since its not added yet.

Ascendancy nodes have too much downsides. Every first node for infernalist is a penalty except the hound. Wtf is the point of 30% crit damage but it sets you on fire? Its not even that strong a buff to start with, even if you're ignite immune. Theres literally regular passive nodes that give that much with no downside.... Infernal flame is useless on its own, the otehr one increases the chaos damage you take...and the following ones reserve life so CI would be ruled out

You socket a spell into one of the supports lots on the gem. Then once you've frozen, shocked or ignited enough you can press the invocation button to shit out the spell as many times as you have energy for.

I like the idea of them scaling with gem level but their baseline stats are just too awful. Like artillery ballista has a base attack time of 2.5 seconds. What the fuck? If it had a regular attack speed the gem level 27 might actually do decent damage with 3 totems down.
