the slower pace is fine. whats not fine is that everything else in the game was basically copy and pasted from the first game. superspeed monsters, on ground effect, death effects. And now you have hard coded one shots. that on top of the fact of making it harder to craft gear while making gear way more important for a build since the tree had a lot of stuff removed from it and relegated to gear. dogshit ascendancy trials that somehow makes lab look good.
they cant just have their cake and eat it too. its also so fucking hilarious we were told for months that currency items would drop more in this game only to then not do that and it took redditors sperging out to get them to realize how retarded it was.
it boils down to the ones at ggg that are in charge have a ruthless mode fetish. and they want everyone to experience it. its fucking retarded.

I tried. I really tried.

I've been waiting for this game for so long now that I told myself I would love it. I even built a new PC just for PoE 2 to enjoy it to its fullest.

And i don't.

The game is slow, tedious, and stressful. Not the good kind of stress, though, where you know there is a pay off at the end of enduring some unpleasant task, like being stuck in the car with your family for a car ride to your summer vacation spot. No, this is the stress where you wonder "What is the point of this?" while doing it. Fighting bosses over and over and over for the sake of progressing with no actual progression that happens at the end of it. because you just move on to more punishing mobs/bosses with little to no character power gained.

I don't even know if I have had any dopamine hits, truthfully. I've dropped 4 uniques and all of them have been low level trash items that i couldn't wear or had some downside that I couldn't stomach. I kept telling myself "just get to maps, that's where PoE shines, the endgame." However. I turn on streams and read reddit and learn the end game is just as, if not more, unrewarding, punishing, and just plain not fun.

To say im discouraged is an understatement. It is clear that GGG does not want PoE2 to be a ""chill game", and that is totally fine, but sadly they are really forcing a large player bases's hand in not engaging with their product. Losing 15% exp + loot of a map that you fail (due to a one shot or a single misstep) is incredibly deterring to "casuals" that may game 2-3 hours a night when the family goes to bed.

I really wanted to love PoE 2 but in its curresnt state, it is not enjoyable. Truthfully, i don't see these core philosophies changing, as it is clear this is the general direction for the game.

So I just got the game today. I just completed Act 1 as a Warrior. Had an absolute blast™. I've got around 2k hours in POE 1 for reference.
The music, the graphics, the art design are all top tier. The boss fights are pure utter kino. That fight with the Count was absolutely god tier. Had more fun fighting him than some bosses in stuff like Elden Ring.

My only issue so far is that Warrior feels a lot worse right now compared to Ranger and Sorcerer, who I tried both. Felt like I could ignore most mechanics are them and the game felt closer to POE1 as Ranged. It was odd. I didn't really like it. But at the same time, it kind of felt unfair considering how much some areas made me struggle. The fungus area with the instantly exploding monsters who leave constant on death effects or the counts castle with the same shit but blood versions was pure bullshit as Melee. I was constantly popping potions and running away.

On a side note, Mercenary is kinda cool. It feels like playing... Isometric doom.

I wish i wasnt cursed with the hardcore tism. this game is not that great for hc. there are 1 shots, fuck. seems you are meant to be doing hc on a second or third playthrough. I got a merc to 20 and then made 1 dumb mistake and got 1 shot. gas cload exlosion killed me, it didnt look like i was inside explosion but i guess my foot was.

10% increased Weapon Damage per 5 Strength
9-18 is the weapon damage range, the high end is 198.

I suspect that a large part of the playerbase is incapable of enjoying PoE without build guides. GGG should have given all the content creators like two weeks access before launch to write polished build guides so that the guidelets could have had a better experience.

I agree. Very little dopamine hits so far. I get those hits from non chill games like sekiro, souls, nioh etc but poe2 is not a very engaging action combat game and its trying to larp as one. Poe2 should back to big dam, loot, and fun builds. Don't prioritize combat around a god damn roll.

Just low-level trash or gear with unbearable downsides. Despite that, I kept going, telling myself, “The maps and endgame are where PoE shines!” That’s the promise, right? But the streams, Reddit discussions, and community consensus paint a grim picture: the endgame is equally, if not more, punishing, frustrating, and, frankly, not fun.

And don’t even get me started on the experience penalty. Losing 15% XP from a single mistake—a one-shot or minor error—is soul-crushing for casual players like me. I only get 2-3 hours to play each evening. Losing progress like that makes me feel like my time isn’t valued.

I wanted to love PoE 2. I truly did. But this game? It’s not enjoyable. Its core philosophies feel fixed, and sadly, I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

I'm really excited about the last PoE1 league of all time that will be coming out in a few months. Just imagine what they will finally give us as an apology for ending development.

I wouldn't even be surprised if GGG lets us create private leagues with admin privileges and test all our build ideas without grinding. This next league is going to be fucking epic, bros, and the best part is that it will never end.

if youre going to make a slower game. im all for it. but you cant just copy and paste the common enemies from poe 1, throw in some bosses with "mechanics" and call it complete.
same thing with making more random gear crafting. im all for it, but then they copy and paste the drop rates from poe1 and have to buff it by hundreds of percents after 3 days.
you cant just make a new design philosophy and not apply it to the entire game you're building. its like saying you're going to build a new house but instead of knocking down the old one, you only replaced the windows and just repainted the outside and then pretended its all new.

Strongboxes are unbelievably slow and a worse version of PoE 1 strongboxes and the rewards are non-existent.

Monsters in the new strongboxes spawn in waves and finishing all of the waves (even if you one-shot everything) will take several minutes in many cases.

The worst is that I have completed tens of them (upgraded to Rare) and I have not got a single item from them that worth the time spent opening the strongbox. I sadly now just skip them.

Chronomancer is actually fun as hell. I know it doesn't have damage, but I really like using the time rewind. It just works in the slower gameplay of PoE2, and it gets you out of any bad situation for free with a short cooldown. Especially since they removed the one shots from PoE2.

Path of Exile 2 feels boring and repetitive

Hi!

I've been playing the game since the release hour. I must say that I didn't play POE1, so I cannot compare, but that doesn't mean that I cannot recognise if a game is fun or not.

First couple of maps/hours were exciting. Figuring out stuff, learning mechanics, exploring first maps. But the problem starts when you get used to it because pretty much nothing new happens for the rest of the game.

The experience goes like this:

You enter new map
You get excited about new territory/monsters
You fall into a repetitive loop: clear mobs group -> take 3 steps -> clear mobs group -> take 3 steps -> clear mobs group...
Maps feel so generic, it's like one small portion of it was designed and multiplied by 10.

Killing rare monsters doesn't feel worth it or satisfying, cases when I get something that could replace one of my existing gear are extremely rare.

Same repetitive mobs are pretty much the whole content you get on a map.

If I wasn't doing enough damage to clear mob groups in one or two button clicks, I would've gave up on the game long time ago, because clearing out a map takes long even like this.

Another thing is that same combo/strategy works on all mobs, there is nothing different you have to do to clear out different groups of mobs. So you figure out a good build and you're good to go until the rest of the game. I want the game to force me to think and adapt in some cases, to make a new strategy for different enemies.

I must say that I do have a lot of fun with bosses. Bosses design is simply amazing and feels great fighting them!

Putting these thoughts out there as I do think that this game has a great potential to be one of the greatest of all time if just some of these issues are fixed.

Archmage is probably the best build if you're coming back and want something that you can't fuck up, you start with ball lightning of orbiting and move to ice nova of frostbolts, there are plenty of guides around

Im leveling my (second) toon and its just lvl 40 and im already feeling that the game doesnt reward me enough, nor with level ups nor with the loot.

Diablo 2 is much faster and you get good loot drops very early in the game, bosses also have 10 times less HP. Just because act 2 is a desert map doesn't mean it's like D2. I like it so far though.

Eh, not really. It's easy as fuck to change skill gems this time around. And respec'ing while definitely should be cheaper, is still realistic. I've respec'd completely three separate times. All above 60 where it can cost me hundreds of thousands of gold to respec.

As for loot, you get fuck tonnes of good loot in juiced maps.

Just beat the tentacle golem in act 3, he bugged out and clipped into a wall so i just auto attacked him for the last 1/3rd of his hp. Animations were tight. I find the game super unsatisfying though. Mechanically the gameplay feels similar (warrior btw) but i don't feel strong or have any cool ways to scale. I literally auto attack bosses with mace strike, it's lame as hell man

slamming is a pretty big gamble considering the mod pool.

I didn't and I'll tell you that - everyone who says they nuke him are playing one the few soon to be nerfed OP builds so don't blame yourself.
Boss becomes trivial with the stacked lightning resist. I was filtered by it 10 times in a row until I went from 0% to 36% and then steadily fucked him up in the next try.

Day 2 of leveling my warrior. First time player.

I'm relatively slow cos I can only play a little a day. Warrior has mostly been smooth sailing. Haven't died yet. I've been focusing on Stun and then that giga bone break execute thing. I also got Herald of Ash and that Fire Cry. Both of which let me pretty much one-tap all groups with a exploding heavy stun. I also got the 4% heal on my Aura which has been insane.

My only issue so far is almost everything needs to have some kind of... passive death aura or on death effect. Pack of mobs up ahead? One of them will have fire ground or frost ground or drain all my flasks. Kill a pack? They explode instantly before I can move and take half my health with it. That's where I've almost died several times. In the fiery village now.

he's complete bullshit if you don't have fast attacks/enough defenses to trivialize his quick attacks, he attacks at like 1 APS and most shitty slow attacks are 1+ APS. if you attack just a bit faster than him, you can attack + dodge and easily avoid every hit. also:

his only real attack is that half-screen slam and his spear chucking. i reset if i ever get hit by it. just stay in melee range so he doesnt spear chuck and he is easy
>second phase
stay as far away as possible. his only way of damaging you is melee hit attrition and that sunder slam/half-screen swing, which you can easily dodge/are out of range of if you attack from the other side of the screen.

The game is not without its problems, but it has a really solid foundation is incredibly fun. We're going to get so much more content each update and it'll keep getting better and better.
I think my main con for this game are the trials of ascendancy. Sanctum is just fucking terrible. I don't mind ultimatum, but I'd rather ascendancy be something unique and never done before like a new take on the labyrinth. That has so much soul.
They'll never do this though and are obsessed with doubling down on this shitty honor mechanic so I may lose interest trying to do all 4 ascendancies more than once or twice.

no spectres so no big dick damage. you are basically locked into srs and either arsonists or snipers. srs is weak, skeletons are ok-tier but can't navigate corridors or doors so any tight maps they get stuck and are always on revive cooldown because they despawn when you move more than 30 feet.

Christmas they will run some limited time Christmas themed mtx, and everyone gets a free lootbox on Christrmas day.

The absolute BEST thing about poe 2 is you only get 1 death and lose your loot / map if you die. I absolutely LOVE the seething and is part of why people are pretending to hate this game so much. I gotta say, plasma bolt completely redeemed crossbows for me, yeah its kinda clunky but deleting half of boss hp in one 3-shot burst and then finishing with shockburst clip feels really fucking amazing, the impact of skills and overall satisfaction of using them is waaay better than in the first game.

Just level with seismic cry corrupted blood spam. Knocks back the mobs nonstop so it's ez. Plus you get physical damage too so you can use whichever slams on rares and bosses.
Also, shields trivialize the content and make you so tanky. Don't neglect it.
