Unrelated, I really wish this node read Slams and Strikes.
There's a node that gives 10% Slam and Strike aftershock on tree, so I see no reason why this can't do the same at 20%.
That same cluster even have 20% More damage against heavy stunned enemies, which Titan also copies but 40% More damage.

The thing is, even if it gets better with Shadow stuff, most likely a Poisoner will be 10x better on some Shadow ascend.
Chayula does nothing right and it was obvious from the start, sadly. I don't know what the HELL they were thinking.

It's so annoying because some ascendancies really need 3 points to come together. I'd wager 90% of the reason Chayula Monk seems shit is that people haven't gotten to Double Breach + whatever. Double Breach is a total fucking gamechanger but it needs something else to support it.

It's simply bad game design to make all the warning you get before a boss does their ultimate attack a red glow along their weapon, and their animation which will take up ~2% of the screen. Path of Exile is the only video game I have to wear my glasses for because I can't see their attacks because the levels are black and red, and the bosses are black an red 99% of the time.

In Elden Ring bosses take up half your screen, you get to see their weapon moves up close, and you know every move they make should be countered.

The only bosses of Elden Ring where it truly matters are so huge they don't even fit on your screen most of the time, making it hard to see the animations, especially if you don't know what to look for beforehand. Same goes for PoE, but the boss is entirely offscreen.

That's a funny excuse you're making because I have sfx in-game turned down to like 1/3 volume. The default mix of the game has sfx like 5x louder than music and ambience, only dialogue is close.

I'm not quite sure I like the rolling mechanic. I think there should be abilities that offer mobility if you choose to learn them, like in Diablo 2 how the Sorceress has Teleport, or the Barbarian has Leap. I think the universal roll mechanic goes against the philosophy of the game.

The game has been designed with the roll in mind so I don't really think you can accuse it of not being in line with the game's "philosophy," but I do agree I don't think it has any place in the genre. I don't think they'll ever walk it back and remove it, so what I think they should do is go fully into it as a class ability, make the movement styles for each roll unique, let them do more than just evade an attack, and give them nodes on the tree or hell, even support gems maybe.

My strat that worked was just sticking to him like glue and rolling behind him every time he does anything until the halfway point where he has some new moves and at which point I ran away from him before running back to stick to him again. That's the new move I run away from. It has a cone that has the same range as his fire breath attack but with a consistent cone but he also does a circle of fire around him which basically means the usual roll through him doesn't work so you're really aren't able to avoid it without just dipping out of his range and hoping to Jesus that he doesn't follow up with his 3 piece combo that will one shot you. It's just pure rng. Hope your build has enough damage to get him down fast enough.

Cruel difficulty is a placeholder until Acts 4-6 are in the game. In the full release there will be no Cruel difficulty, you'll get to Act 6 and then go straight to the Atlas endgame.

also lower the sheer amount of moves enemies and bosses do that are nigh unavoidable that just chunk you down. like the fat crones at the apex of filth's "breath" attack that just does an unreasonable amount of damage for whatever reason

it's a late campaign weapon. even then 1h is much better there because shields are ridiculous and 1h have much higher attack speed so you clear through acts faster. using 2h before giants blood is a noobtrap. much higher damage numbers but you generally don't thirst for damage as a mace warrior, you just need to not die and be faster.

How is this not completely false advertising? All the footage is probably from the time they actually intended to make PoE 2 an expansion of PoE. If they removed something as major as fucking FLASKS only a year ago it makes complete sense the game is super unbalanced.

D4 looked nice in some places but if you look at it closely there's huge disparity between some assets and in combat it entirely breaks down and looks like ass. My personal favorite to point out is the necromancer skeleton summons. They look like they belong to some mobile game. Probably an asset lifted straight out of Immortal. I though they did it so they can sell MTX that looks better but they never sold any so.. Necro summons just look retarded in D4.

PoE2 looks amazing so far. D4 doesn't come even close.

Charms are mainly bad because you need a specific modifier on your belt to have more than 1 of them.
>To have the equivalent of 5 flasks like PoE1, you need +2 on belt, making it a mandatory modifier
Belts should get + Charm slots at higher item levels instead of this shit.

When they said it I thought it was a great idea. A few years of PoE1 later I was worried that they were sticking to it and it was going to make PoE2 a huge flop. Then they announced they were going to be two separate games.

It was definitely the right call to separate the games. PoE1 has too much baggage. Honestly they didn't get rid of it enough for 2. Some things got carried over that shouldn't have.

In Elden Ring if you know bosses' patterns and play through the game for maybe the third time you can absolutely cruise through it. In PoE 2 it doesn't matter if you can perfectly time your dodge and avoid every attack, without lucky rolls on gear you deal no damage. You don't get any better at killing bosses through your skill.

Assuming you have no other sources of damage as x, that.
If you have 25% damage as extra already, then they are equal in value.
If you have more than 25% damage as extra, 20% more is better.
This is cause % as extra is additive with itself and ignores itself. So any damage you have that is "extra" won't apply to the damage bonus of other extra modifiers.

Is there a way to make Essence Drain/Contagion work? I've taken all the Chaos nodes in reach at 21 and my strongest Skill is Fire Wall. Essence Drain does 25 DPS while Contagion does 5 - 15 DPS. Something feels horribly wrong when I'm still doing double digit damage at the end of Act 2.

Five fucking years of waiting and that's what we get, and the worst part is that the game is shit by design, so no amount of balancing will make it good unless they completely redesign the game, which would take them years so they're obviously not going to do it.

Now all that's is left is pointing and laughing when these retarded devs who developed PoE 2 watch as their game turns into the next "Runescape 3", and that's not going to be without warnings since they clearly knoe that Ruthless is a failed game mode.

All I wanted was the powercreep in PoE 1 to be reset for both players and monsters, but unsurprisingly GGG only nerfed players while keeping all the monster extremely overpowered.

It's more like it's bad for its intended game design philosophy. The game looks great, plays great when you're strong, and has rad boss fights.
The issue the dedign philosophy is to make players weak and slow everything down by scaling the artificial difficulty to max.
Lack of endgame content is whatever. Leagues exist for that. If it feels good, people will play. It just doesn't feel good. It's not allowed to feel good. GGG is adamant about this being a feelbad game. So until that changes, shit is fucked.
I'll never understand what sort of brainwashing happens to studios who succeed. They pick up the mentality that FEEL GOOD must be balanced by FEEL BAD. You can't give someone power, you have to remove power from design and force players to sacrifice limited resources to obtain what you took away.

They literally removed soul eater, and gave you a bunch of utilities like pin. The regen on the rare mobs doesn't mean shit either, you aren't getting chased by an immortal mob moving at the speed of sound through the entire map.

A simple reset to POE 1 wouldn't do shit, that game is mechanically old and clunky, playing it just feels like shit. POE 2 is already cooler and more fun than POE 1 has ever been.

Intensity Burnout

I'm not sure what else to call it, but the need to be constantly focused and constantly vigilant in every moment of PoE 2 gameplay is burning me out.

To be clear, I really like the new bosses. They're diverse, mechanically engaging, and overall a great experience - a huge step up from PoE 1's boss mechanics like Maven's memory game. On this point, I agree with the Devs that boss fights should be difficult and intense.

But something that PoE 1 did much better was balancing this intensity and focus with other gameplay that was more relaxed, so that you weren't always gripping your mouse with white knuckles. Mapping was low/medium intensity, and bossing or gigajuicing was high intensity. You could bounce back and forth.

PoE 2 suffers from being high intensity all the time because of the high risk involved in simple mapping.

If I die in a map (even just once), I lose an incredible amount of progress - not just the XP, but the valuable map itself, the potential rewards in that node, and all other maps that might have dropped in that map. That's brutal for something as mundane as dying once in a map.

And so I have to be locked in. Constantly. Every moment I'm playing.

This isn't sustainable as an ARPG endgame where you're expected to play for hundreds of hours.

I'm pretty upset that GGG decided to gate ascendancies behind two tense and highly stressful game modes. Not everyone enjoys that kind of gameplay, some of us are here because we just want the modern day equivalent of doing endless Pindleskin runs. But no, GGG worked very hard on those minigames and they're going to make sure EVERYONE appreciates them, blood cortisol levels and broken keyboards be damned.

I got Zarokh (final sanctum ascension boss) to about 10% health today before dying to the stupid hourglass minigame. My bad for not equipping one of the few remaining mobility skills, I thought they weren't necessary anymore but it seems like GGG decided to pull a fast one. The whole time I was playing that mode I was thinking to myself how I'd rather be doing anything else, and I get the feeling that this boss and the Trialmaster are going to cause a lot of people to ragequit and uninstall due to their unskippable nature and how atrociously long each attempt takes. Hopefully GGG comes to their senses sooner rather than later.

Its my opinion that summons are absolutely overturned because i don't even see mobs on my screen before my archers disappear it and thats without me clicking any of my buttons.

How did you make it past the normal Act2 and 3 with skellymen?

I can very much believe that they may get better in late game when you get all the nodes and shit, for me the problem was the early game.

I don't mind them being treated as a two-handed ranged weapon but it feels like we really should've gotten a set of one-handed crossbows with less damage to take advantage of the block and dual wielding nodes that they had to put in for duelist.

Not that guy but I had a breeze on maps. You roll srs because 30 spirit for 10 minions is too good of a ratio to pass up. After you have some spirit on gear and some + minion levels you can switch again.

I ran SRS with firewall and skeleton archers until like act 5 Fire dog 1st. You level up a lot so check the guy who sells sceptors for + minion gear then wear that all the way to end game maps. + minions are priority then a power gap then spirit then another power gap.

So like your fire dog ignites everything in its range. Then your skeleton archers have a ""command skill"" that drops gas arrows on people. Slap a scatter shot support on that and cast it on anything in base contact with your dog for 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 damage explosions.

I use 4 skeletons and 1 fire dog with like 9 archers. at 6 archers you can hold down gas arrows and the skill will refresh by the time you cycle it. I think 4 skeletons and the dog are enough to tank but you can do with like 3 and no dog just fine. I mostly use them because I run burning legion on the skeletons and that way everything is on fire all the time.

It feels not great so far and I say that despite liking the "concept" of basic quarterstaff invoker. PoE1 seasons were fun because a slow player took like 6-8 hours to get through the full campaign and you could almost literally always play a strong build that you had never played before even if some skills were fairly perennial. I don't even know how build diversity would be possible in PoE2. The emphasis on combo/setup/etc means that quarterstaff can have however many associated skills, but there's only a tiny number of total builds that you can realistically squeeze out of them since the skills are designed for such completely different things.
