This is the bit I struggle to really understand (which I think frustrated some anons). I guess the question is, does Andrew realize that he doesn't care about Julia prior to the events of Ch1? If he does realize it, then he wouldn't be bothered by not being bothered. But if he DOESN'T realize it, then I just don't understand how he can treat her the way he does. Again, I get that he doesn't love her, that's not the point. My point is that IF he was fooling himself, surely he would be at least somewhat nice to Julia, given that that's how normal boyfriends are. How is it that he can be so routinely mean and dismissive to Julia, yet still be surprised that he doesn't care when she leaves? The two seem at odds with each other. And I get it, "he lies to himself", but that just doesn't seem like enough to explain the situation. If we get scenes of them getting along, then it would make sense, since the scenes we see in the devlog are the extreme moments of Andrew's true self showing through. But it seems like there were no good moments, that everything was Andrew actively putting up with Julia purely for the disguise. In that case, he shouldn't be bothered by not being bothered because he never cared.
Sorry if this didn't answer what you said in your post, but this should make my confusion clear

This is what I really want. Ashley needs to head off Andrew's descent into being the dominant and out-of-control sibling by taking the lead. She has a gun, so reverse decaype (could even be burape) is actually achievable. I think her fear about losing Andy to the new unpredictable Andrew could push her to it, after the sex vision plants the idea in her head. Ashley casting off her role as the scapegoat and puppet and pushing their relationship dynamic all the way back to Andy and Leyley would genuinely be an interesting route.

That moment was preluded by Julia pressuring him about Ashley, him talking about keeping Julia and Ashley under control, and is directly followed by Julia just about guilt tripping him to this face and him asking her to put her hair up (like ashley). They aren't even very close in that scene outside of the ending either. I'm more of the belief he was indifferent as a boyfriend and did a bad job. But Julia misconstrued his sexdrive as genuine affection and he deluded himself with the few moments of respite as everything being fine.

I don't think Andrew is a full-on sociopath, there's obviously a part of him that cares a great deal for Ashley, but there's also several thousand layers of trauma, denial, and a deep-seated need for acceptance.

He's pretending he's talking to Ashley, and she is a piece of work who does things like send his girlfriend horrible voicemail messages with a shitty fake voice, but he loves her nonetheless. Then he "corrects Ashley" (sexually) which makes Julia think they're okay.

I don't know that Andrew is really conscious of what he's doing, if only because if he was it probably wouldn't work. He'll probably be mortified to have it pointed out, like I bet will happen in that same sequence with the family portraits covered in sheets.

For what we know Ashley mellowed way down after the Nina incident because it was a show of devotion from Andrew that ultimately made them very close. She only turned into the way she is now because Andrew got angsty about rumours and started dating Julia in the spur of the moment spiking fears about Andrew leaving her (Ashley).

Without the trust created by Nina's death, without Andrew being extremely close with Ashley, Ashley would have been far worse and more unstable. It's only a better timeline in the sense of an innocent death avoided, but it would have butterfly effects moving forward.

I don't think so only because dominant traits *tend* to be more common in expression because even if matched with a recessive allele it will always express. Either way it doesn't really matter, the argument against incest from a medical standpoint is an ultra-precautionary measure based on the worst possible scenario that both parents possess a genetic ticking time-bomb.
