I really want to get into POE2 since I liked the first one but it just feels really slow and I did a lot. I think I like the action rolls, but with Witch and Ranger, I keep having too little health or damage in Act 2, not sure what really makes the builds pop this time around

The current system has made it so builds and skills actually do what they're supposed to during the end game, besides one-shot combos most content during act 2 and 3 cruel and maps is significantly easier than normal act 1, 2 and 3. I recommend buying thorns uniques to carry you through the start. Of course, this is terrible design but what I can say is that the end game is infinitely more fleshed out when you have access to as many gems as you want and easy respecs.

Johnathan was way too retarded with respecs, until the final quest is complete all respec prices should be 1/10th of their cost or free. I have no clue who this game was made for.

When 1 was in closed beta, it felt like there was a character wipe every month. I played before Shadow was even released. I haven't touched 1 in about 6 years (Shaper patch)... 2 seems very stable for the internet and I'm surprised you can pause the game. It's neat to see how the game has progressed

The mentality is different and so is the world.
The majority of the general I take it is 30+ or at most in their late 20s and grew up enjoying a pre-hypercapitalist videogame environment
It was in a time where Fun = Good and autism was a given and expected since just turning on a computer (let alone having anything remotely close to a HMI) was gatekeeping 99% of the human population

Fast forward 20 years, everything is consume. you will own nothing and you will be happy crushed the souls of our youth into dust.
Companies are no longer people, and the people working in them are no longer human so when a change happens and jonathan is like "ah yea this is pretty broken we're nerfing it in the early days of the beta before it becomes a given" jung, or rather his generation doesn't see that as a human interaction but rather a company crushing their soul further backed by hidden motives
And they are right, for that is how the world evolved and it has been proven that they don't listen or act so people just screaming became the natural response

They signed off on ruthless mechanics because player retention is the new oil in game design so now we have to suffer just to artificially elongate our emotional attachment to the PRODUCT.

Nah, they presented it as an early access to the finished core gameplay, not beta.
Other classes and three more acts are side content detached from it, you can justify shitty core gameplay with the unreleased content that has nothing to it.

I switched to the gas arrow/ignite combo on my DE after heralds got nerfed to shit. Before I was mostly running fairly smoothly, with fps going to the 40s when tons of shit was happening. Now it's straight up terrible. I'll just stay on this build until I can afford the gear for a proper cast of shock set-up.

I can see why people were complaining about warrior. I am currently in the ogham manor with 60% armor and it feels like I have zero. White mobs are auto attacking me for half my health and I have 80% accuracy on my attacks because the entire warrior area of the tree has no accuracy

Use a bow, you do better poison damage than the poison class if you go chayula because the added chaos damage procs are from all sources of damage and their spontaneous procs synergize well with poison's new mechanic of only allowing the strongest applications to tick so when you do get a decent proc it's fully utilized. The damage reduction options are superior as well.

That's redundant because you are FORCED to play crit blood mage or else you don't get blood orbs/healing on bosses.

The first ascend that you are FORCED to take is an outright nerf. All spells cost the same as your mana. So if you use a curse skill to bring down ele weakness, it gots 25% of your hp and some mana to cast it. You literally kill yourself casting shit. It feels extremely bad.
The blood orbs are glitchy and can spawn out if bounds to where you cannot access them. Blood orbs also are in lingering effects 90% of the time and you'll take more dmg trying to pick up the orb than you would if it healed you. Everything feels bad desu

Im currently at tier 15 maps and its basically poe 1 with better graphics but downgraded overall gameplay.

Monsters still running at light speed, %50 of monsters have some on-death effect, still getting lazered off-screen, puddles everywhere, homing missiles everywhere. If you dont one-shot things then you will get one-shot concept of poe1 is still the main drive of endgame mapping. Dodge roll literally useless beyond acts.
I genuinely dont understand how they expect players to stand still and do some 3 button animation combo while getting lazered by off-screen projectiles and a mana leeching- perma stun locking rare blinks on top of you.

If you're weak then farm. You don't want to farm early on if you don't have to because the loot gets better later, but sometimes you have to.

If you can't keep your ES up then you have 400 life. That shit comes back slow, so it's good against a single big hit but very bad against constant damage. You need life, and you probably should get some evasion too. Evasion/ES hybrid gear would probably make your character feel way better.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but leveling alts in POE1 is actually great compared to POE2. The lack of leveling uniques, if you didn't save up your low level uncut gems, better get lucky and drop them again, having no crafting bench, relying on crafting to get lucky and hit something you want, essences not having tiers, it's all so bad.

In POE1 once you get your first character to maps and grind a few days, you get all the leveling uniques you want for a reroll, in POE2 though, it's a different story.

I have not had less fun leveling a 2nd character in any other game, like in POE2.

Cool but that's like 10% of what your character is, status/buff ailments are huge, enemy resist are a factor, actual uptime of damage is a factor.
I have a feeling in my gut that adding firewall probably add more damage than your 300% inc.

Explain some weapon/ability balancing to me:
I'm running Deadeye with the intention of playing Crossbow, I have passives going into projectile damage and 2H damage as well as Crossbow reload speed and nothing that specifically boosts bows. I've also unlocked loads of skills across both Crossbow and Bow to test them

The most effective thing my character can do right now is gas explosions, and the best way for my Crossbow character to use gas explosions is to fire Poison Arrow (Bow skill) through a Flame Wall (Generic skill) despite my Crossbow being much better than my Bow
Yes I've tried gas grenades with all the trimmings, I launch 4 gas grenades per cast, but at best it just deals the same damage as poison arrow explosions despite poison arrow being an infinitely spammable ranged projectile and gas grenade being a slow, awkward bouncing grenade with a fuse timer, a cooldown and 3 casts

What is the purpose of Crossbow if all of its skills surrounding grenade explosions end up worse than firing a bow through a flame wall?

im at lvl 28 right now and picked up some clusters at the beginning and went straight to the quarterstaff cluster, i guess i will pick up die reduced mana cost cluster that im connected to

ES might as well not exist at low level because you can't reliably recover it and you have no defences past that. Try to pivot into hybrid bases, get some life on your gear, don't invest too much into defences on your tree and instead kill stuff faster than it kills you, it's really is the way to for campaign.

Since he's not doing a good explanation,
If you have a Shield in one of your weapon swap slots (the I/II marked above your weapon and shield slots), you automatically pull out the shield to block shit. There is a very small "weapon swap" delay, but it is minor enough to not be an issue.
You don't even need a mace in your weapon swap.
But if you do, make sure to go into your damaging skill's details and untick the box that has your shield in it.
A lot of Warriors are also struggling in acts because they don't know about this shit cause there's no tutorial for it.

Yeah, you can block all the big damage hits you want no problem and then go right back to big dick damage.
Also, when I say automatically, I mean you can hit the shield block button and swap to the shield without having to actually use your weapon swap button and then swap back just as seamlessly.

Titan and Warbringer are both fine, you just gotta get used to them.

Invalidates the Fist of War support by doing it automatically (2nd ascend).
Invalidates Boneshatter by making all your skills do that effect (with no bonus damage).
Depending on your build, Hulking Form may very well be worth it.
There's almost no Life on tree, so Mysterious Lineage is worth thinking about.
>Warbringer
Invalidates both stun break and the stun break support gem by giving you natural armor break, which often far outscales enemy armor. Which also means you can use the armor explosion support for free. Scales kinda meh into later maps, but is fun as hell.
Funny ass Warcry nodes.
Auto block.
Both have stuff going on, it's just awkward cause it fucks up your build if you aren't ready for it.

Thing is, you can get easy armor explosions unascended for 13 passives (including travel nodes) off of "break 50% armor on heavy stun" and a few extra nodes to get 100% increased armor break.
And generally you wanna use Perfect Strike over Boneshatter because it does like 5x more damage and doesn't require setup to use.

I have mace mastery that always chills so frost blades with 2 attack targets, tribal fury, cold to fire and hypothermia support should be pretty strong once it is all working together

Mass stuns, freezes and chills, big dot, am I missing something

Kripp is right. The passive skill tree is a joke. I can gain 10 levels and feel no fucking power increase at all from points being put into it.
Leveling up doesn't even feel good. You should be able to notice significant power increases from the passive tree, but nope, it's tiny incremental shit that hardly matters for anything.

This is wrong

Block works from all directions now and is passive, like in PoE 1.
But you can also raise your shield to get 100% block chance for hits from the front.

What turtle charm does is it allows your passive blocks to work for all hits, which includes spells and aoes.

I tried coming up with a build and this is what I landed on. The thought process was to clear trash mobs with galvanic shards that pierce and can also bounce of walls in case the initial damage is too low. I thought the bleed might be useful for increased dps with bosses along with crit boosting the magnitude but I'm not certain, if it's not I'll just get more elemental nodes and cut all the bleed stuff. Increasing the magnitude of non-damaging debuffs means the acid cloud will break armour more easily which could then be used by the plasma bolt to try and do one shot shenanigans since it can bounce with a 50% chance. Let me know if this is irredeemable trash and what I should change.

A large amount of skills and supports are still missing. Of course there's not going to be a lot of diversity. That said, underperforming skills are severely worse than POE 1. It is literally impossible to make them work not just somewhat more difficult.

Yeah this is a legitimate complaint. If we want the 'vision' then mobs need be slower or less dense or deal less damage because setting up anything unless you're a fat bastard with capped block, evasion, avoid, and 80+ max res is too tedious to be fun.

White mobs should be a minimum build check and just be dangerous if you literally can't kill them that they swarm you OR they're big, slow, telegraphed, sparse and you eat an obvious slam.

Instead you get swarmed by a million things at hyper speed and get fucked if you can't clear at least 1/3 of your screen per second.
