Unpopular but correct opinio- fact
auction houses in these games isnt even a bad idea. the only legitimate argument against them for D3 was that they were tied to real money which led to affecting the rest of game design. 0 reason we cant have an auction house other than autists/assholes who want to private trade with people and rip them off but they cant buy low sell high they need to take advantage of someone naive.

Do did I, my act 3 upgrade was at least 2x as strong as my previous one but within half an act it was back to taking time with packs. Somehow I was killing packs faster in cruel 1 than normal 3.

I was skanking through Cruel and now that I'm doing maps I can barely play at all, I keep getting oneshot by the smallest mobs, everything is way too aggressive and fast and I'm either stunned or frozen all the time. On the other hand, I also instakill rares and bosses.

is survivability achievable at all on Monk?
split evasion and shields feels like it does nothing at all and the best I can do is get 500 more Life and about 30% more resistances from better gear, but idk if it would help.
Should I just go full midrange and stop using the bell?
but there's no way the whole endgame is meant to be played hitless, right?

Nah, comet was quite good in Elemental Invocation.

Cast on Freeze + Comet dealt with the packs of white and blue mobs. Then when you spot a Yellow or Boss you dump Elemental Invocation on them. I had the Max Energy increase and Spell Echo slotted into it. So when I had Max energy and cast it I dumped 10 comets on a enemies face.

It cost a lot of Mana doing that, since you're basically casting 5 comets at once but since I was a Chrono I could just Temporal Rift and get all my Mana back.

Comet is bugged when slotted into Cast on and similar skills.
If you slot it into Cast on Freeze it should give it a Max Energy of 100. Since the Base cast time of Comet is 1 second and the Max energy is 10 energy for every 0.1 seconds of cast time.
But it actually gives Cast on Freeze 300 energy.
Pre patch I would say it was bugged and including that +1 second to cast on the ability as part of its base, which it shouldn't. As before, the Max energy was 154, 2 second cast divided by 0.13 times 10. It should have been 77.
But now I have no idea. Even with a 2 second cast the energy should be 200 not 300.

But I'm really glad they nerfed the build without fixing this bug and actually they somehow made the bug worse, fucking fantastic.

If you want to easily beat this game in HC just go half of nodes for ES and especially faster ES regen delay. The bosses don't attack often enough to get ever through your already regened ES unless you stand in some aoe dot shit

Switched to playing cold snap manually again now that comet is nerfed. It's definitely worse, but not all that bad so far. Only in act 4 though, so I'll probably get dps checked in maps.
Anyway, here's my tree so far. Anything I should change? Mostly going for crit stuff, cold & elemental damage. Took the arcane surge cluster because I used 4 of my ascendancy points for the arcane surge stuff, but I don't even know if that's good or not. I haven't really felt it aside from the mana regen. Maybe all hits counting towards shock is better?

yeah I used that until I beat Act 2. The orb of storms does a lot of damage with Arc but bosses will be slow. If u have energy shield on gear it's pretty doable but it's about to fall off hard. That's when I swapped to frost and everything just dies instantly it's night and day. But you do need skills from act 3 to get it working and a respec.

At that point I had switched and was playing frost without ice wall which was painful on bosses. Re roll some gear for Shields like I said, I was about 3 levels above the boss when I beat it and it didn't really hit too hard. Only the act 1 boss at the minion phase drained my health so far in this game.

I never considered playing Sorcy but the sheer fucking magnitude of that nerf to all Cast on X skills and the fact that they didn't even fix the bug with energy cost of a comet worries me a lot.
If they do something similar to a class or build I play I will just quit till the end of EA and won't think even for a second about trying to salvage shit.

This game’s character building and gearing is now back at D2 levels of obviousness. Can’t even do a “broken” idea like CoX. In hindsight these additions like gambling, runes, currency streamlining, tree streamlining, gem streamlining and removal of bench were huge red flags about Jonathan’s competency.

I've used like 20 ex on items so far and I've regret it every single time. If I had used those to buy equipment, my character would be like 5x stronger. Any way to make good use of Hailstorm Rounds, Stormblast Bolts or Siege Cascade? I like this style of rain skill but these feel a bit awkward.
Siege Cascade is visually and mechanically amazing in large packs but it just doesn't have the oomph even if you make use of the built-in multiplier.
Stormblast could be cool but the detonators being so slow make it awkward to use.
Hailstorm seems the closest to usable if you pop it and swap to another shot type but the damage and freeze feel a bit lacking.

Shockburst is great if you can consistently shock but yeah that's a pretty accurate take on things. It's like they were afraid of them being good that they intentionally put in heavy gimmicks or gave them really low numbers that prevent them from ever going anywhere. It's funny that design-wise the most different types of shots are also the worst. The good ones are the shotgun or machinegun shot types and even then they kinda suck compared to grenades.

I started a str stacking gemling once I got one.
double lightning rune and 20% quality, using a lightning convert skill. It does decent damage and has a shitload of life (almost 2k starting cruel.) If I had astramentis I would be shitting all over everything. No content has given me any trouble yet.
So I'd say it's alright, we'll see how it scales in maps.

Exploding shot is really good if you use it with scattershot / double barrel, it's been carrying me. The 3 bursts you get shotgun and I've been deleting every boss in cruel difficulty with just that + gas grenades to break armor.

Sure for the campaign it's fine because you lose 10% per act which is better than the big 30% drops it does in PoE1, but then they also decided to add another 20% penalty for mapping which feels like overkill, by the time you hit tier 6 maps you probably sorted out your resistances only for the game to kick you in the balls and force you to get another 20% for no reason

Explosive Shot is one of my favorites but it is dreadfully slow. I hate that we don't have more ways to scale reload speed or bolt count. Ilvl 82 adds +2 bolts mod but ain't no way you're ever gonna get that on a crossbow with good rolls with this crafting system.

I'm watching deadeye and merc streams and these guys sprint through maps killing everything instantly with poison cloud bursts and arrows. Even before the nerf, cold sorc wasn't that strong. Fucking retards still can't balance their own game after 5 years of development for poe 2 and more than a decade for poe 1. They literally just lucked into success.

The difference is people choose those top.meta skills in PoE1 because they're broken in some way, but dozens of other skills are perfectly viable and can allow you to clear any content you want except shit like crazy Valdos. I don't think that same kind of option is available in PoE2.

The slow windup on all warrior skills is so asinine, this isn't Dark Souls or God Hand where you get literally "counterhit" like a fighting game in the middle of windup frames. You're not even guaranteed to get stunned for winding up a sunder and facetanking a bunch of dogs or whatever. Just lazy "gotcha" design for the warrior constantly taxing your HP, because the mob design is actually generally quite lazy (zerglings are the strongest mob type), and has very little threat on screen (which is why Deadeye is so OP, just never gets in range of any zergling bites).

NTA but poe is heavily reliant on landmarks for directions and I've found most of the landmarks to be lackluster.
Take one of the biggest "square" zones in PoE1, The Riverways, it has a clear road through the center and an offshoot road at a waypoint for the only other exit. There's nothing even remotely similar for PoE2 zones.

In D2 some areas have rules that haven't been identified or are random. Another example is Arcane Sanctuary.

In PoE2, I dunno. If it turns out you can know in advance where to go, maybe large maps aren't that bad. Although each map has 2-3 objectives, so you'd still need to travel between them.

What the fuck are they going to nerf? I pick what's fun and it works because I'm not dogshit at the game. They nerf ice because having an actually fun autoattack and I just prioritize my bell more because I just need something to wack it. They nerf ice AND bell then I go lightning because that does more damage anyway. They nerf both and I just combine them both with a Freeze + Electrocute fun build and it'll still work. They could cut my damage by 60% and it'd just make fights take longer because, once again, I can use things like Blink and succeed instead of crutching on some attempt at turning PoE2 back into PoE1 autobombing

You have access to tons of armor to mitigate the (mostly) Physical shit they throw at you constantly. Easy HP regen too.
The only place Warrior truly suffers is Sanctum since all that chip damage is permanent (until you reach a shrine to recharge it anyway).

See the problem is all this whining is just hyperbole. Its normal and expected to take like 3-5 seconds per pack. Thats what the devs intend. Its not PoE where you zoom across the map killing enemies the microsecond they appear.

You dodge one attack because you think you should, then a bigger attack comes by and you can't dodge it. They aren't going to make bosses wait 8 seconds between attacks (in that example).
