that's not what you do with warrior, you hit the ground and hope to god there isn't 5 projectiles coming your way that will insta kill you while your character does the 5 hour animation and btw if he doesn't if you don't get the attack off you get swarmed and die

Stop planning for level 100, figure out the least valuable 5-10 points you can afford to lose.

NEVER grab the 10% increased cost if you aren't 100% sure you know what you are doing. 12% mana is really shit compared to -cost for every build, except endgame archmage that has solved cost with absurd gear. You aren't even scaling mana for damage.

What is your solution to survivability vs 1 shots, shotguns, DOTs, and invuln aura mobs?

Another thing GGG does horribly. Holding down the attack button is always the best way to beat an enemy. They don't run out of resources or have vulnerability periods, and often they even have some sort of enrage pattern that you'll see if you let them stay alive too long.

It's so fucking crazy that the garbage licensed games I rented from blockbuster in the 90s understood boss battle design better than GGG does. How fucking hard is it? The boss does a big pattern, then they get tired and have a glowing weak point that you attack.

I played one until I got essentially hard stuck near the end of act 3 and rerolled. Ammunition types just feel like shit gameplay overall desu, maybe they get more satisfying the deeper in a build you go with near instant reloads and shit but I couldn't be bothered

It is just a guide. I am aware I should not plant for max lvl.
My solution for getting one shot is not getting one shot. Even very tanky builds get one shot here and there. I only need enough energy shield to survive borderline unavoidable stuff and then I am back at full in about 5 secs (less than 2 secs recharge start and less than 4 secs to full energy shield). Time stop, time rift and the support gem that makes my ice nova start my ES recharge also help, coupled with slow/freeze.
Mana for damage scaling seems kinda weak, and that kind of stuff would be my least valuable nodes.
How would you modify what I have put forth?

Infinity options, the top contenders are Archmage caster gemling or attribute stacker, both expensive endgame chase builds.

I have a bunch of niche theorycrafts around mine, but not gonna recommend anything that isn't safe. Take a look at all gem qualities though, there are some absolutely nutty ones available. Remember that gemling can get quality on skills from items too.

It's fine, it's more than strong enough and if you like the playstyle it can even be fun, but in terms of raw effectiveness a slow melee attack will never compare to a fast ranged attack in a game about killing monsters for loot.

ES is the best defensive option against one shots actually, so not being able to deal with the single death case that your defensive layer is most powerful against is a very bad sign.

Defense-wise I guess you are very reliant on freeze/timestop to buy time so you should aim to add more ES scaling, grab the set of nodes at the top left.

Remove every single dead small node, you aren't a titan so their value is low AF.

Scaling crit is very point expensive, pick either chance or damage and find another source of the other. The only way you can grab all crit stuff is if you are willing to make it your only source of scaling on tree, and search for inc damage on gear instead.

Anyone know what the keystone node "BULWARK" really does? It says you take 30 percent less damage from hits while rolling but your roll doesn't avoid damage? What exactly is this saying? Also, the keystone next to it, "Unwavering Stance" seems so incredibly ass. Why is it in the game? It takes your roll away entirely but doubles your stun threshold? Who gives a shit? There is so much weird shit in this game man, you need the roll! Right?

The biggest targets for nerfs are 1 button builds. More buttons = safer build.

Next up is anything that instagibs bosses, GGG hates anything that instaphases a boss before it can attack since it brings us back to poe1 meta. The whole point of forcing the 1 death = brick atlas is to prevent anyone from trying to build glass cannons dedicated to bossing.

Lastly is anything that is unusually powerful with no gear investment, because it means anyone can reroll to it at no cost. Not requiring specialized uniques or top rolled gear to perform makes it too popular to stay alive.

roll has some iframes(not really iframes because they don't work against aoe) by default, this removes them and gives you 30% DR while rolling in exchange

apparently from what i've heard this is a permament decision and cant be changed, and there also doesnt seem to be a way to preview what each one gives you.

I legitimately feel scammed buying the game for the first time in 30 years.
I was okay with some flaws that they will sort out, but I was sure as fuck that the basic forefront of the gameplay - campaign, difficulty curve, loot, itemization, passive tree and ascendancy - were made to be enjoyable and good.
They had 10 years of experience and advertised it as the game for all ARPG enjoyers.
Non of that is good. I'm still feeling as miserable with my toon at level 80 as I did with lvl1 one.
This game was made to make average player not having fun and well spent time.
If I could I'd refund this shit and come back in a year when it becomes actually F2P and probably with the nailed gameplay loop.

I've tried every dark skill with my witch and they are all the different sorts of undertuned shit.
And elemental skills aren't much better. Lightning skills are fucking weak. Fire is pigeonholed into flame wall. Frost got nerfed.

By adding a dodge roll to every single character they have also designed enemies and mechanics with it in mind. To put it simply, there is no such thing as a tank build in PoE2: EVERY character relies on dodging to survive. There are no different defensive archetypes, every single character has the same play pattern in this regard, and differences in health/armor/evasion/ES/etc are merely a matter of degrees. A dodge based character with more health still needs to dodge.

Every character has had their defensive layers and gameplay homogenized and pre-selected for you by GGG: you will roll telegraphed hits, use armor or evasion to soak minor hits you can't avoid, and if you step on the ground degen you missed a pixel of because it's covered in particle effects and mobs you instantly die.

I am playing through the game with my girlfriend and it is honestly just rough for her. She is actually a decent gamer, but she keeps trying to make unique and interesting builds. She spends all of her gold respeccing because none of them are working. She is playing a Blood Mage and she hasn't found anything that actually works. We're in Cruel Act 2 and I deal like 90% of the damage. I've tried to help her but I am not sure what a blood mage is even supposed to build into to be effective. She is clearly starting to get frustrated and not having much fun (despite loving it earlier) because she basically dies on every boss and then I have to fight a 2x HP boss myself while she sits around.

No, this isn't a copy paste from reddit, just coming here to post while she respecs her build some more. Currently she was trying to do some kind of fire bleed ignite thing and you can imagine that isn't working. I suggested just a straight up ignite build, but she feels dumb doing that because Infernalist would have been a superior option.

I'm like 50% phys crossbow but also phys mace to make the most of Armour break mechanics, gemling merc. Feels OK but I've yet to make it past tier 4 maps, rerolling just because I want to though the damage feels fine.
Basically I have armour piercing bolt maxed and I can break any white mob with 1 or 2 hits, also have daze on it so that I can stun quickly after it's applied. Boneshatter for packs and stunning rares/bosses, seismic/sunder for actual damage against them. I also have frag and stun grenades if I feel like playing a bit safer at range, they still fill out the stun bar for boneshatter stun setup as well

Sure. My passive tree is a bit of a mess honestly and I'm still tinkering with it reading through everything, but the idea is you buff your bone storm as much as possible. So you take stuff that buffs hit and phys damage, like increased damage hitting ignited enemies. Then you put the inevitable critical gem on it and grab as much crit damage bonus as you can.
My bone storm gems are brutality, inevitable critical, and super critical
My fireball gems are unleash, scattershot, and fork
Bone cage I use heft, lockdown, and spell echo, letting you even pin bosses after a couple of casts. Melee rares will never touch you.
Solar orb gems are fire exposure and strip away, you just put it right on top of the boss and it instantly ignites them, don't care about the pulses or dps
rest doesn't really matter but detonate dead is really strong however you build it
Let's you snipe a bigger enemy with bonestorm and instantly kill the rest of the pack
Also you want as much strength and health as you can get away with because blood mage basically get double health from remnant overflow.
Campaign was a breeze, currently still coasting through tier 2 maps since I haven't had much time to play.

I would have no problem with nerfing outliers if the content wasn't tuned so high it makes all other skills feel super weak. There is no dopamine injection. This is no balls approach and I have no idea why they think it's okay in an ARPG.
I understand introducing struggling in the endgame, with shiity gear.
But campaign has no business to be so high tuned.
Or the skills have no right to be so weak. Either nerf content or buff the skills.

I don't know about you, but I usually have youtube or netflix open 24/7 when playing poe1, and with 2 I literally cant at all because if I look away for 600 milliseconds, I take 200k worth of damage while having 3k health

Went full life/str build with recoup life readying myself for the Blood Mage
Can't beat the Honor mechanic in the first trial. I main Bone Cage and I can't reliably hit the boss without getting Honor eventually depleted. And the rest witch skills I've leveled do no damage.
I hate the fucking Honor man, I beat the regular bosses quite easily with that build, but it doesn't consider not getting hit mechanic.

i just use unearth, they act as a slight meatshield and using unearth on corpses that died from chaos magic gives lets the little skele scorpions the same chaos infection thingy so it keeps spreading

its a traditional spell and you can summon as many as i like as i understand it, and they are stronger than typical skeletons, you can also just use a few skele warriors and empower them with the offering spikes or w/e

The issue with Chaos Monk is that there's no skill to use the empower with. You don't have any big single-hit skills to empower, and the few big skills you do have convert all your damage to lightning so it's hard to scale the chaos damage.

Since the word used was "less effective" yeah it does, since effectiveness in PoE is virtually always a function of time. Something that takes several thousand percent longer is several thousand percent less effective. Post-nerf cast on ignite stuff went from filling 100% energy to 0.5% energy, so something that used to trigger on every pack now happens literally once in an entire map.
