trying to salvage my CoC comet build and holy shit it's ass. yes, it nukes bosses even faster. but it was already killing them in 1s before so that change hardly matters.

the issue is now you can't trigger shit on white mobs.
you know, the mob type that makes up 95% of the game. if I get stuck in a one on one with a white mob, I have to sit there and cast eye of winter like 30 god damn times.

it's not unusable, but mob clearing, especially if it's not some turbo juiced high tier map with a trillion blue/yellow enemies, is completely and utterly ruined.
might respec into a lightning warp build

Things that eat effects to do something are quite terrible. Idk maybe there's one or two that are worth it but from my experience I prefer the effect to remain instead of eating it to do a tiny amount of extra damage.

You saw that there's little to benefit from doing ice+fire minions. It could be fine for what they bring by themselves but it's probably way stronger to do something that does have a combo. Like the snipers' gas arrows blowing up from fire or arsonists just also using fire so you get more benefit from cursing flammability. There's even the interaction with shocks not expiring on ignited enemies for the storm mages.

Maybe ice+fire minions will get some love in the future.

I'm like 20 hours into the game because I can only play after work and I'm still slogging my way through act 2. Why are these maps so huge and confusing. I swear between whittling down mobs, porting out and back to sell loot, trying to find the chests/boss/exits, and the worst of all constantly getting lost some of these godforsaken desert and ruins take 2 hours to go through just one map. How the fuck have people beaten this game multiple times by now? Is there something I'm missing because getting lost is not fun

Depends on how good the eating effect is and if you can passively stack it.
e.g. using a skill that's really good at breaking armour then consuming that broken armour with another skill to do a ton of damage.

As I said, depends on how strong the effect is and if you can passively stack it.
I'm currently using a poison build, my clear skill is linked with corrosion (and armour explosion for a bit more clear), and I have a stronger skill linked with Exploit Weakness to to do 50% more damage.

If I were to guess then it's because using a skill that's too strong can create an advantage forcing people to use those skills whereas people just won't use the weak skills, and sometimes weak skills are only weak in comparison to strong skills (not always of course). Nerfing should come before buffing (though buffing should definitely happen too).

That's not the bricking part. Most of the tree revolves around crit nodes and mana regen. It's VERY costly to change that, let alone nigh impossible to replace gear without using an existing build to farm up beforehand.

Doesn't this make witch straight better then sorceress? Because witch still gets some spell damage, even if not as much as sorceress, and then minion buffs on top. I was using cast on shock to generate power charges by way of profane ritual. It was fun but a little clunky to get the engine running. After that it allowed me to sustain power charges for my charged staff buff. I just hit t3 maps.

After the update I cannot gain power charges consistently at all, so I can no longer sustain charged staff for my tempest flurry. Tempest flurry feels completely shit without charged staff up.

The entire build has been disabled with the update. I was literally just talking about how fun the build was to play and how smooth it felt - apparently it was problematic though? Not really sure how.

I don't really feel like starting over so I guess that's it for me for now. Great update. What is even the point of the trigger skills now that they are so bad?

I thought PoE was supposed to be about discovery and unique build interactions but it seems like every single thing GGG didn't explicitly design a combo for is getting removed as soon as it gets discovered.

i would agree with you if they didnt do this exact shit past few leagues. chris is fucking gone, the vision is gone. chris was literally saying himself on podcasts that poe is all about people finding broken interactions and they will leave that in for a league or two before forcing people to find new toys. what they nuked in poe2 so far is not even some kind of unicorn super complicated interaction, they just deleted what they didnt like lol. the equivalent of this would be deleting hexblast in poe1 on day 2 of the league because it does too much damage too easily when used with mines.

Gemling isn't super high impact in general but it seems like if you stack strength and red gems you can effectively become immune to fire damage and get a shit ton of hp, and that's only off 2 nodes. Absolutely zero vision with this game. It all makes sense now, no game that takes 6 years to enter early access and have 2 founding devs leave during could ever be a sane product.

The story makes zero fucking sense all over the place, the progression is just scuffed.

>Collect 3 rune things to make 1 item that is then used 3 times on a tree
>Comes off as absolutely pointless where you're just clicking 3 times on the tree as if it's just an exercise in time wasting
This "quest" was very obviously originally meant to be "find 3 separate parts in 3 separate places" and they weak sauced it down.

Likewise, the "do the two tombs to make the one ring that opens the gate", yet the two parts are in the same fucking area, there's literally no reason or motive to say why you should do one first over the other etc.

The NPC Lachlan morphs into a monster that visually has absolutely zero visual relation to him, the armour he was wearing is just magically changed into completley different armour, it's very obvious this was slapped together and they just put two completely different assets smashed together and said one transforms into the other. Not to mention that boss room is literal 0 effort green square of grass, when we saw this encounter at Exilecon 1 it was way more dynamic happening out in the open amongst gravestones.

Then you have the cart town shit, where you have to:
>Warp onto the cart
>The cart is moving, talk to slut, use machine to warp to place
>Black screen load, now you're at the place
>Now you have to warp to get off the cart
>Now you're at gates, but you can't do anything, better get back on cart
>Have to warp back to cart through loading screen again

This game is an absolute mess

My guess is the entire cart town mechanic was supposed to be actually dynamic originally where you would physically drive through the act and the cart town was you're gating progression thing, but they just let you warp to all these different locations from the cart.

The "gate" entirely seems pointless you watch the cart go through the gate when you open it, but what for? It gives the cart access to some other areas it can warp you to, but logically on the map they make no sense as to why they were gated to begin with

Now that I think about it, the act4 they showed off was basically the same, but with a boat and islands. It smells like some forgotten idea that was scrapped and repurposed into the shit we have now.

I imagine with act 4 you were supposed to physically boat to the islands like Wind Waker or something and tech wise they couldn't do it.

Same, I got halfway through act 4 on my first blind ssf merc before I got bored of the playstyle, but I didn't struggle too bad, some bosses were challenging, but in a fun way.

Now on my second character semi-following a build at the end of act 3 and still enjoying it, even easier the second time.

Also that's not how armour fucking works in real life, it makes you lose more stamina when you run with it, but you don't run any fucking slower. Especially if it's something like evasion armours, no way putting those on would make you slower.

Just started mapping today and looking to transition my Invoker to CoC Flicker for bosses while still having Storm Wave for packs and maybe Tempest. If I did want to do this is there a fast way to generate power charges now that isn't the unique armour? The stats don't synergize with the Invoker node..

I'm currently using the Resonance tech with Combat Frenzy and of course it's timed, same with Sniper's Mark that I wanted to include.

I don't think melee will have anything super abuseable in general. In PoE, all the abusive shit has always been weird interactions with "automating" stuff. In PoE2, the automating cast on gems seem to be pretty restricted behind a INT req I believe. If there is anything abusive melee could do, it would be a result of weapon swapping I'd imagine. Looking at just the warriors mace skills, there is nothing abuseable in there. I can't think a single interaction that would be insane as like cast on freeze comet. We will see when the rest of the melee options come out.

Fuck the acts system, fuck globetrotting.
Give me "Firelink Shrine" 3D tristram with looping branching paths and shortcuts to zones and a set of cast of characters in town that evolve over the course of the game.

In my dream game, it's set entirely in a town like that, and maps system is available immediately but requires campaign playthrough materials to unlock more mapping in, so you can start mapping immediatley and have instant personal unique fun but then are motivated to play through campaign again to dual progress in both.

Warrior is dogshit mechanically and GGG are going to nerf everything ranged constantly into the ground so their statement of "PoE2 is for fixing melee" rings true. They haven't actually improved melee at all over PoE1, they improved everything else mechanically by a factor of 200%, they're just giving melee big numbers to make it "work".

PoB isn't a site, its an external app and its very accurate.
There isn't an equivalent for poe2 yet but I can almost guarantee there will be eventually because the same issues that necessitate its existence for poe1 are still present in poe2.

In poe/arpg the melee weapons all share the same animations and skills

PoE2 sword skills will just be the exact same ones as mace but it won't be called a slam, it'll ll be called "downward slash". "Rolling Slam" will be "Rolling Slash" and be literally identical without the ground shockwaves.
Half the skills will just be "lift sword in air/stab sword in ground to summon magma /lightning bullshit"

Watch it happen. If duelist is actually dueling and hitting things with his swords I'll be very surprised.

I wish you could see the dps from the normal attacks of minions. It feels like skeleton snipers do a lot less damage than the mages but I can't fucking tell.
They don't even have damage numbers for basic attacks in the advanced tab, just percentages
