Just got a lvl 13 gem skill and been going purely fire. I'm somewhat disappointed with the final spell on the fire path flameblast because it's channeling. Means I can't do shit while I'm casting it. Is there any build that utilizes this effectively??

Spent most of my time in cruel so far taking notes of which quests and bosses I can skip, where certain events spawn relative to entrances and exits to try and figure out the best possible routes through zones.

I got up to 75% move speed in sanctum and I can understand why they nerfed speed, it's extremely overpowered when using wasd to move. Like, literally nothing can hit you as long as you circle strafe.

Another reason why ranger is still the best class.
Easiest access to movespeed nodes, tailwind, frenzy stacking with darkray vectors, you can basically just walk away from anything threatening, shooting the entire time.

It's kind of sad comparing the story and vibe of this and Diablo II, which they are obviously trying to replicate in some ways. It's both less serious and more edgy, which make it forgetable. Talking to the town folk In D2 is a lot more fun for me. And the voice acting for a lot of them seem kind of off. Also I'm fully expecting act V to be a snowy mountain village now.

You're a gemling, start getting creative and use skills from outside the crossbow set. I run galvanic bolts + herald of thunder + orb of storms + the lightning mark + the lightning Res shred curse skill, only gets better the more higher tier supports you unlock

It's too much of a mmorpg class based system when it comes to skills. You can't choose whatever you want and really build around that. There aren't even enough skills to do that. You have a limited amount of skills and you can swap them out as needed. I'm talking from a mace pov right now since I'm playing a warrior. Everyone is like oh just use perfect strike on bosses. So fun. It's too on rails and completely different from poe 1 where there are so many skills and you can build around it completely.
This is really my biggest con for the game, and it's a bit of a deal breaker because it's just going to feel like playing a D3 barbarian each league.

kripps summary was pretty good i think, poe2 just has no chill. if you want to do something not dangerous then you do a tier5 map, but low tier maps have dogshit rewards so theres no point in doing them. you have to engage with the hardest content to get anything meaningful and that requires your full attention because poe2 is designed in such a way that anything can one shot you.

All the other weapon skills scale with shit far away from you on the tree. There's no pathing through the middle anymore and the tree is so large that traveling to other areas isn't realistic. There's not the choice you think there is. You have one set class and you're going to play it.
There's a small chance it gets better when swords, axes, flails, etc. are released.

Meta means a build is minmaxed to shit and able to obliterate content to the best of that specs ability. So each class will have 1 top meta and a couple sub-par meta builds.

Y'know what fucking sucks about melee. In PoE1 there was a bunch of powerful supports that changed how your melee skills functioned. They removed basically all of them in PoE2. Multistrike, Ancestral Strikes, Melee Splash, Fist of War (its shit now). So you're stuck with the most boring shit forever. I see these bow guys blowing shit up with a ton of projectiles and i'm just there with perfect strike which is basically auto attack but with the GoW reload minigame, it's fucked up

I haven't even finished act 3 yet. I keep rerolling towards the end of act 2 because that's when i start getting disappointed with how weak everything is. Currently on char #4 (LA ranger) and once that inevitably gets nerfed before i finish acts i will have to reroll again.

I don't care if they let you have six portals, or if they just reduce the amount of oneshot bullshit, but something has the change if they want the system to be this punishing for map failure. They don't even drop waystones often enough either, if you are actually trying to get atlas points it's fucking impossible if your level ups were timed badly or if you get unlucky. Low tier maps are completely pointless because of this.

i'm not watching an ecelebs video to gather my opinions about the video game i am playing, my problems with the game is that act 2 is a slog, layouts are too large and either need to be shrunk or base ms needs to be increased, picking up whites to craft is boring and would rather if scours where in the game. there is probably more as i am only in act 3 cruel about to start mapping but overall i'm enjoying the game it just needs a ton of balance/number changes. oh and you should be able to move while doing melee skills that feels like a nobrainer.

Actually I misremembered there are 2 separate gem interactions using the same bug.
First one is socketing added lightning damage into herald of lightning (or ice into herald of ice) will give ALL your attacks the added flat damage while that herald is active.
The other is using the matching elemental infusion on a herald will give all your attacks the %damage gained as ele but without the downside of doing less damage of the other elements.
This only works with herald of ice/lightning, presumably because herald of ash lacks the attack tag.

I played loot 2.0 and had fun. A pro is that you can think of a build, make it on the spot, and probably it will work. Also when you find some fun items you can rearrange your build pretty easily. Also you can skip the campaign.
Some great BUT,
Campaign wants to be something, but I didn't feel anything. They introduce characters, you talk to them a few times, then they kill them. So sad. Also they like to waste your time running around without a horse.
I played mostly in a party, so I dunno about the boredom of being alone in d4.
Game is/was very easy till endgame bosses that oneshot you so you need to go to an endless dungeon to farm items to fight them.
In the end imo is worth a run to fuck around.
Dunno nothing of the expansion.

The opposite. You can still survive just fine in campaign and early endgame.
When I posted about "endgame" I meant maps+.
In mid-high maps you will get one-shotted no matter what.
There is no point in going tank when you get raped. So you go full screen highest dps possible in hopes of not getting touched once.

As a new player you have no preconceived notion of your currency being "valuable".
Which is the #1 thing bricking PoE 1 players, they refuse to spend their gold or use their orbs on items because of "Muh Value".

You can get 80 Transmutes for 1 exalt atm, just spend that shit trying to get upgrades.

Agreed. They forced the gimmicks on skills too much and there's not enough skill variety in each category. Weapon based categories have it much better off though. Occult and Elemental both have a bunch of skill categories bunched together. Going single element is super awkward and phys, chaos and minions are even worse off.

Support gems are also kinda boring. I really hoped they would come up with some wacky stuff considering you can only use one each but most of them feel inconsequential.

A lot of this should get better as more shit is added to the game but I remain worried. The way they designed the skill window they'd have to change the layout to add more skills to a category which makes me schizotheory that they don't plan to add any and it would be awful. Like if they just fill the "coming soon" slots it's gonna suck.

I am also not really a fan of the locked weapon skills. There's a lot that could work across weapon classes but it seems like they haven't considered that an option. Maybe there's potential for that to change in the future as more weapon types are added.

PoE's open approach to building was it's major selling point. Especially in the early days when the game straight up sucked it was only played because of the building. The gameplay was terrible clunky shit with garbage game feel and lag/desync being major problems.

I'm warrior and i feel the same, releasing with only 1 melee weapon AND the skills constrained to weapons feels super limited. I can imagine a few archetypes on warrior that may or may not be viable but its just not very fun and the attacks are slow. Mace skills have total attack time so you can't even gain attack speed. Maybe there will be cool syngeries with other weapon types that make weapon switching viable but i doubt it

People not uisng co-op are dumb. The bosses do not scale 1-1 with players. You can just slide into a group of 4-5 people and steamroll almost any boss because the AI doesn't know what to do with that many targets and enemy HP doesn't scale exactly.

Nearly all skills are locked to specific weapon types which basically enforce a specific playstyle. Plus the nodes are placed in a way that is tailored to each class' style. I got baited by PoE tards who said you could do anything on any class. I would hope there would be new skills coming as well. People say that weapon swapping and weapon swap skill tree stuff is useless. Is that true though? It seems useful if you actually do swaps. I utilize the weapon swap tree when I switch to a shield on my warrior. Seems okay but is it actually less efficient somehow?

Who knows. There could be shit like "pin enemies with ailments on them." which could be useful for a witch. You'd just have to spec into dex to use the spear. Spears are like 100 percent dex so the investment would be sort of high but doable. Especially since there are runes that can split weapon requirements.

it can probably work but you'd need both a specialized build and weapons that fit that build really well. plus counters to resistences are easy to get. it's much too early for anyone to have bothered with it, crafting isn't deterministic enough, etc.

I think it just depends if your build has a reason to swap. Minion builds have next to no reason to ever swap anything. Most minion builds don't even use a alot of mana. Which is why one of the most popular builds right now is fucking SRS minion shield mind over matter bullshit.

It's fine as long as you can distribute the points properly. If you use weapon set points you can spend 1 skill point to divide 2 points differently between the swaps. You still can't do entirely different builds because they must connect to your normal tree, but you can get different cluster nodes.
