Sure am.
I'm about 8h in and I think I'm about to complete Act I.
I went in with the expectation that I'm going to do my best to figure out some sort of build that has some synergies and there probably won't be any need for a build guide, since the game is early access anyways and I'm not sure how much of an endgame there is. Maybe if I'll hit a brick wall at some point I might look something up.
Or maybe on a subsequent character. Ultimately I would love to learn to do my own builds, but I assume that requires a lot more game knowledge.
Also as >>505625872 mentioned, the fact that resetting skill points is so cheap and easy makes me a lot less anxious about potentially making a shit build my first time around.

On the topic of new player questions: What am I supposed to do with all these orbs?
So far I'm just collecting them because I don't struggle much with my current gear and I don't see the point of investing into it at the moment, when I switch it out semi frequently. I assume in the lategame I will settle on one equipment set that I can use orbs on to optimize?

Unless you get very lucky with ground drops you'll need to start using orbs during the campaign at some point
There's not a lot to it atm so you should be able to work it out by just reading what the orbs do, you just repeatedly roll the dice on bases hoping to get 2 good mods then upgrading further if you get lucky

i am in act 2 right now at trial of ascendancy playing crit bonestorm and it feels very strong, i have cast speed talents, no summons, and have a support gem that gives 50% crit on pinned targets, so i have a pin support on unearth, and some good support on bonewall, i set up with pinning my enemies then blast them with bonestorm and its very satisfying

i have like 36% crit on bonestorm at level 31, when the enemy is pinned it goes to like 86%, so not hard imo, the biggest thing is cast speed imo so you can get a big bonestorm cast off quickly

Feels like they really didn't think through the kind of effect their currency and crafting changes would have on end game. They have so much shit to drawn from yet head scratchingly throughout crafting currencies and interesting item mods but kept fucking sanctum and ritual of all things. Even expedition seems really fucking out of place. Hopefully all that shit is placeholders, I'm not doing another 5 yrs of expedition every fucking league

I hate how controllers are by far the best way to play. The slight autoaim they have makes everything so much easier, also you can go into your inventory while paused and mess with gear/gems. Not to mention that it's just comfier.

The only thing that sucks about it is how ass the managing items is. I wish I could play with a controller but handle my inventory etc with my mouse. Or make it so that mouse gameplay also "snaps" skills to your enemies.

you cant overlevel in this game, because it's a pre-planned sandbox game where you must walk very thin path

zones that are 2 or more lower your level you will gert 0 exp. you have to be right at the correct zone all the time.

in traditional hack n slahs games where there was hard boss or level, the lower levels offered quicker leveling as mobs died quicker and there was not really exp penalty like in this sandbox game

There has clearly been a severe lack of communication between the animation team and the combat team. Why the fuck is this gorilla allowed to have an unreactable multi-hit roll? I had this bug with my SRS. Out of a sudden .y flame wall stopped spawning SRS. I looked up in skills, SRS was still toggled on, but it said in red that I need 30 spirit while my spirit was somehow 10/30

It's crazy how they made respeccing more annoying than before. Before I could just buy a shitload of regrets assuming I wasn't completely poor. Now if I run out of (((gold))) I have to pick up a bunch of blue shit and go through the extremely slow town portal loop to vendor shit like a monkey. Another thing I hate is how punishing switching skills is, because gem slots are tied to the skill gem. So if I want to change to say a different frost skill, well I'd better have a shitload of exalts to spend on a new gem.

People keep missing the fact that the campaign is elongated for the purposes of the Early Access and will be greatly redacted once the full game releases. Right now the game is unfinished and stretched out, so that you'll have a lot of runway to test out all the new classes and abilities. Once they have all the other shit ready to implement, they'll cut back the superfluous bits already out and cleanly replace them, it's part of the development cycle.

But granted, given how it currently is setup, it also means it'll be a long while before everything is finished and replaced properly. Wouldn't be surprised if there's a new poe1 league to come out some time next year as a substitute for the downtime that'll inevitably follow, something small and generic but enough to be new in a final goodbye.

I tried a few different builds.
Essence Drain + Contagion just feels like ass, with half the mobs moving at the speed of light, and some shambling along.
Did the job just wasn't fun.
Curse stuff was costly mid game with Blood Mage. Curses cost a lot of health.
Made a poor Witch's Righteous Fire, with perma curse + Despair + Decaying Hex + Impending Doom, with a Int Stacker.
Decaying Hex + the Perma Curse I'm guessing had weird interactions.
Rerolled another witch for Infernalist. Felt gay playing SRS.
Rerolled Chaos "Righteous Fire" with a full blown int stack since I didn't have to worry about the Health Blood Tithe bullshittery from Blood Mage. Felt a lot a better but no perma curse so a lot of moving in and out of mobs.

On a different note though, having made it to maps on two characters, I'm ready to go back to PoE1. Don't hate PoE2 or anything, just not exactly what I was expecting from them. Crafting feels more boring then 1, maps are to big during campaign, boss fights are repetitive and I'm not sure I want to fight this shit over and over across years like I did with 1.

Yeah my run was an enjoyable challenge, but I have little desire to do it again. They were hyping it up as somehow Different from the usual ARPG campaign, with the "optional" bosses and multiple paths and shit. But actually nothing is optional and it's 95% linear, and it's a slog.

I heard it was bugged so that dmg increases increases the self damage so it basically always kill you.
Anyway, even if it's not bugged it's still 25% of life with fire 75% resistance. Can't see it being useable with how dogshit life sustain is and how bad leech is. Maybe with 90% max res.

Yeah no, you need to see the future for that because even having played it several times over and not struggling with anything I just keep getting lost in the convoluted locations like the moon temple, or just wasting time looking for one last mob in the fettid pool
Last time around I was running loops around the Vastiri desert because I confused something and couldn't find the right exit.

Beating the campaign takes me a while day. 5 hours is nolifer territory, maybe if you played for 10 years I guess.

A lot of the confusing zones have tells in the environment that will point you in the right direction once you know them, and obviously you can skip quests like fetid pool until you need the respecs.
5 hours is definitely in the autism zone but you can get it done in way less than a day if you've played a few leagues and paid attention or looked up a guide

Blood mage is obviously designed for physical spells
>One path for assload of crit damage
>Other path just for getting enormous health

The problem is that the physical spells are weaker than everything else in the game. The bone cage needs a massive buff, it has to either cast twice as fast, or stay on the ground for longer.

Infernalist seems to work wonders with SRS and fire shit too.

Even then, I remember my first playthrough of PoE1 and it took me 14 hours total, in PoE2 I'm currently at the end of A3 Cruel with 26 hours played. That will be double the time by the time I'm done, and in PoE1 after a couple playthroughs I can now do it comfortably in 6-7 hours on a league starter. Meanwhile in PoE2 even if we figure out better leveling skills, I don't see being able to bring it down even below 15 hours.

You need to get the second ascendancy to even begin using the first one. 100% added life cost to spells is legit crippling. If it gave you 25% more damage, or 25% reduced cost it would be whatever, but right now you are literally getting fucked for free.

First of all holding alt when looking at an item shows more detail about the mods. The split of prefixes and suffixes is shown on the left and the individual mod tiers on the right. Some mods can have two rows of text.
A magic item can have 1 prefix and 1 suffix.
Since you're playing minions I'll use this example
Prefix on a sceptre
>x% increased Spirit
Suffix on a sceptre
>+x to Level of all Minion Skills
Ideally you'd have both on your sceptre but +level of minion skills is more important so be on the lookout for those. Helmet slot can also roll that +level mod for minions.
Body armor and amulet can roll +spirit.

Early on use augments on magic items that have one good mod.
If you have a magic item with two good mods you can regal it.
If you have a rare with good mods and less than 6 mods you can exalt it.

Items that add quality are more relevant later on but they improve the baseline stat for an item. For attacking weapons it's their physical damage. For armor it's the base value (armor, evasion and energy shield). You also get these orbs from salvaging superior items.

Artificer's Orb adds a socket. These are a bit more rarer and I wouldn't use them unless it's a really nice item that you'll probably keep using for a while. Use runes that give res or life on armor pieces that have sockets. You get these orbs from salvaging socketed items.

Each ascendancy trial gives you two ascendancy points, you can take the small node and the big one.
So basically when you beat the first trial you can take the small +3% max life and Sanguinity.

Sanguinity at lvl 20 just fucks you
>Cast Vulnerability
>Lose 30% of your entire health pool for a debufg

The second ascendancy trial is available in Act 3, and the challenge is fucking hard as fuck, I was hard stuck on it for hours.
Then you can actually use Sanguinity and get the spell lifeleach.

Still feels weakish, the physical spells just need more power.

In other hand maybe I'm just fucking stupid? Literally nothing is stopping me from going for the elemental damage.

Generally 2h weapons can roll more powerful mods, but since we don't have full modlists yet it's impossible to say.
In poe1 caster staves were objectively worse than 1h+shield or dual wielding with the exception of some uniques but it could be different here.

I care little for sleepoch (especially since they refuse to fix end-game, more-so monos) but yeah the crafting in that is overall much better than Path of Excrement (1 and 2). It's a good amount of grind (for the mats), risk/reward/gamble, and easy to get into but still has some depth but isn't retarded and autistic (thanks Chris). Plus with how many abusive mechanics there are/have been with PoE's where some mechanics or leagues were just broken for crafting. It's too extreme and not enjoyable unless you're jew-tier.

A portion of your total points count as weapon swap points. You can assign that amount of points into different passives depending on your weapon slots. So in theory you could have one fire staff and one cold staff and use fire one with fire passives to cast fire spells and the cold one with cold passives to cast cold spells. You can assign skills to cast with a specific weapon slot and it auto swaps them for you.

The first trial is a "dodge the traps challenge" the second trial is absolutely brutal you will have to fight a lot of strong monsters on timer while massively debuffed and if your char is weak you can't fucking do it.

I didn't reach the maps in poe 2 yet but in poe 1 simply managing and organizing the maps was a fucking nightmare, they made it as painful as possible to strongly suggest that you might wanna spend some money on the game.

I had to get the maps tab so that I could even figure out where to fucking go. Yeah yeah I know it's "technically" optional, but I would never recommend anyone to play without the currency and the map tab.

The rest depends on what you like to do. Essences are very good too, but if you're farming Breach you don't need anything.

I went blood mage and generally I had 200% overflow hp all the time
and I was even using a +3 skill level wand so my costs were massive
you just need crit so you get remnants during bosses then you don't even need to flask

I only just finished act 3 normal on warrior and I'm already starting to feel a little burned out. It's so slow and a bit of a drag at times and the reality is there's not much choice in mace skills.

i put blind on my oil nades but i didn't look into flash nades yet. i just like the extra slow and damage

anyway with the crossbow+tree thats plenty of nades. im just too used to it taht when it came time to upgrade in cruel, none of the xbows in act1-2 had it so it was torture

my experience with it was playing with a lightning caster friend so he shocked for me I'm not sure how easy it is to do solo

lightning nade could possibly be set up as a shock applier with supports if the rods don't do enough damage

Most bosses seem to MASSIVELY punish you for trying to zone them, in merely range the flail around helplessly, but as soon as you step away from them you get obliterated with avmassive tracking beam.

Both Sanctum and Ultimatum can both give all parts of ascendancy and Ulti only gives the second one after level 60.
