Most specs in TBC are superior from a fun perspective to most specs from retail.
There are outliers, for example retail healing is almost across the board more fun, but DPS and tank specs in tbc are generally just more fun, more complicated, and have more diverse mechanics which makes each spec feel like it has far more personality.
In short, seal twisting is based, slam timing is based, meleeweaving is based, totem twisting is based, and retail specs are cringe.
Also TBC was the best iteration of professions.
