I think the core of the game is there but boy does it need changes.

What GGG has tried is to combine many genres to make poe 2, like darksouls and D2 as just two examples.

Sadly this has alienated over half the players, most people I know dont enjoy this.

We want difficult, but difficult should not be having to rerun a zone 8 times because all the monsters respawn when you die.

Starving for support gems that make you not deal enough damage or change your play style even in act 3.

No loot to get upgrades or currency to craft on more than 2 pieces of gear per act only for it to be crap.

Difficulty should come in late game when you make it difficult yourself, loot and Currency should be abundent.

Hope the game is fixed soon.

PoE 2 Is For Tourists

Everything that made PoE 1 great is absent or understated in PoE 2.

While the enthusiasm around the game is huge, it is much like the initial wave of Diablo 4 players. Diablo 4 retained approximately 2% of those players after the vast majority finished the initial campaign. Most didn't even stick around for season one.

It really sucks that you have a community who absolutely loves PoE and rather than leaning into that and giving them more you decide to go in ... whatever direction this is.

Everything is too slow. It's not respectful to the player's time.

Loot doesn't exist. I dropped one unique in 30 hours.

Respec is still prohibitively expensive and would require hours and hours of grinding to fully accomplish.

Crafting doesn't exist. YOLO Slamming is the only method of crafting that exists outside of a tiny pool of very rare essences that can still be bricked by subsequent yolo crafts.

Ascension mechanics were somehow made worse by making them sanctum and a juiced up, even more broken version of ultimatum.

The majority of my deaths over 30 hours were getting frustrated and walking too far forward and getting pinned to a wall by enemies.

Support gems are dropped far too sparsely.
Jeweler's orbs are far too rare.
I think I dropped like 5 alcs in 30 hours.

This basically means even yolo crafting OK gear is difficult and if you decide to change your character you are screwed.
Nobody wants to grind levels just to get through the acts.

I watched streams to see if the "endgame" was worth pushing through for and it looked terrible. Basically just the same thing where you come out of a map with two magic items and four wisdom scrolls (which are even more pointless than before)

Hope you all made your money off the wave of early access buyers, because your core audience who spent thousands of dollars because they loved and wanted to support PoE 1 won't be buying anything for this game.

Ive played cold spells yesterday and today and it isnt even that strong
The only good thing is they guarantee kills on trash but comet has a pretty low area so you'll always run around with stragglers around you

If you encounter a small model boss your ice wall does jack shit and your single target damage is a joke. I dont know what they should fix here other than make it harder to freeze or nerf comet damage

Item variety seems to have gone down the gutter. Literally the only weapon stat you care about are +x for gems, and the priority for hp/res on everything else has somehow gone even higher than in poe 1 because none of that shit is on the passive tree anymore.

Which ones are good though? I know Glacial Bolt will be good once they fix the interactions with extra proj and frag rounds but I'm not sold on any of the others. Do the shotguns even benefit from extra proj or is it only fork/chain for those?

everyone complaining about the game is just getting filtered because they're a mong like I was when I first hit endgame in poe1
this game isn't hard, its slightly challenging
the only thing that needs changing is drops from regular mobs imo
but I don't even care if no loot buffs are brought in

Whiners have ruined the game. It's been less than 12 hours but the loot drop has already fucked up item progression.

Before everybody was struggling, but if you made good use of what you had you could make incremental improvements and good currency by selling stuff.

Now it's back to the PoE meta where crafting is pointless and you just farm divs (exalts in this case) and buy broken gear that you have little chance of crafting on your own.

Has anyone found a unique that they didn't instantly vendor yet? They said in the preview that they made sure most uniques have a use even in endgame, but so far out of the dozen I've gotten I wouldn't use any of that trash even in early acts.

The only two "good' uniques I can think of is unironically is Lifesprig with +3 roll and that one unique ring that gives you spell crit and spell crit damage while increasing mana cost of skills.
There's also a helmet that guarantees poison on critical strikes but that's about it.

I farmed 30-40 exalts just grinding bosses with MF gear
all they've done is made currency drops more broad and reduced them from bosses after first kill to make it so people can get them more consistently from all sources rather than just mindlessly grind the same boss constantly

I don't have a problem with the bosses for the most part, more of them have been fun than not fun, but I do think a lot of them aren't really suited to a system where 1 death bricks your map. Souls games give you infinite retries for a reason, they need to pick a lane.

In poe1 you fixed problems and in poe2 you fix a problem and a new one pops up as a consequence of trying to fix the previous problem E.g. multiple projectiles gem has reduced cast speed so now you need lots of cast speed to even function or +to level of skills increases mana costs so much you will literally brick your build by getting it and it's kinda driving me insane.

It's true. Day 1 had a lot of filtered redditors crying about the game being too punishing or whatever, but it turns out that PoE 2 is the exact kind of game they want, a boring joke where you're not allowed to make wrong decisions. All you need are capped resists and a decent weapon and you become unstoppable in maps. Not having the choice to invest in life or defenses on the tree means that by default everybody is tanky enough to do all content. Crafting has been "streamlined" to the point where I wouldn't even call it crafting, it's just pure gambling now. It's literally that "close your eyes and slam it!!!" meme but as a whole system. The only thing that has seen any marginal improvements is the atlas, but that's just because PoE 1's atlas was nothing interesting itself.
Their stupid marketing worked, they tricked people into paying them 30 bucks for an unfinished shadow of a better game, and I won't be shocked when everything that anon said comes true and jonathan disappears into the night after the honeymoon phase ends and it becomes clear that the game is nothing special.

There's zero max block chance on the tree. No mods, as far as I can tell. The only thing with maximum block chance the I found was good old the anvil, that rolls +(3-5)% maximum block chance.

Difficulty currently comes in waves, it starts off low, skyrockets as you're undergeared, then drops as you upgrade. The issue is finding those upgrades is difficult as hell. Never being able to upgrade your weak weapon because you keep getting accuracy/life on kill rolls when you transmute is rough.

Good gear always helps. Gem skill bonuses from weapons are a huge boost.

If I wanted to do a strength stacking life regen build, how much strength can I expect to get by endgame? Im only getting like 300 strength from nodes with the build I cobbled together quick and I dont know how much strength I would get from endgame gear.
I want to grab Titans Blood too and apparently dual wielding two handed maces can take like 1k strength by the time you get to maps.

they make a huge difference, I also run the 100% shock chance support gem on galvanic, voltaic mark and overwhelming presence just to maximize the shit out of shock chance.
It's super important to maximize the chance you shock because you do literally no damage unless you actually proc shock, but the moment you do proc it everything just melts.

Maces are too sluggish. All skills other than armor break and boneshatter are slow as fuck and ensure you're hit multiple times before they land. The leap is specifically egregious in that it gives you a fake sense of dodge/iframes when you're actually being hit by melee enemies who should be miles below you. It feels awful in a game that seems to be all about speed. I feel like everyone is just using boneshatter 90% of the time because it's the only thing you can do quickly.

Boneshatter is incredible and is basically propping up all Warrior builds at the moment. It absolutely decimates regular enemies and even if you only use it two or three times in a boss fight it triggers heavy stun early so it is absolutely worth it. Other melee weapons will have to get insanely good skills to compete as Boneshatter might just be the best skill in the game right now.

Perfect Strike is the boss killer, but yes you are correct that maces are incredibly slow. Most of the high-end +damage nodes also increase your swing speed which is crazy.

I don't know how they're going to fix the map size issue in the later acts. I dont see them comprehensively redesigning all of the later maps, but nothing else would really fix it.
The massive amount of enemy density combined with all of the chokepoints in each map means that things like mounts or speed increases wouldn't really help.

no, as i said, they pretended to fix rolling by making an insignificant change to some random roll value that no one knew or cared about. they didn't fix the fundamental issue of being body blocked and pushed around. they released some pretend fake change about it, hoping that people like you would do what you're doing right now
same thing with item drops, they don't actually say what they changed, they just say "we think we identified what needs to change". they didn't even say they changed anything, it's just implied that it's better now. and again, like i said, blue pilled people en masse will happily take the placebo and talk about it like something actually happened

Most abilities happen at a % of base attack speed. Example: Armor lowering basic attack is 60% base speed for some fucking reason.

Basic attacks happen at 100% speed, hence the higher DPS numbers.

In the patch notes they mentioned something about bad luck protection? How does / why does such a thing like that need to exist in this game? I was just curious about it. I think its overall good but why is it needed? They mentioned that getting a good item could basically make or break your early game experience I guess. Like if I got a rare 2 handed mace in act 1 and it was good and useable, my act two experience probably would have been way less traumatic. But I was stuck with a shit weapon for a very long time.

From my understanding it would need to have a chance to bleed.
Think of it this way.
You have 50 phys 50 cold, bleed only wants phys so only the 50 phys is taken into consideration, with that node the full 100 would be taken into consideration. You still need a way to enable bleed however.

Killing enemies, knockback, that one dex aura that knocksback when hit, and freezing I guess. You can always put a knockback gem on an aoe skill if you really need to.

I wanted to experiment with other colors of skill gems but the stat requirements on some gems is so insane. I wanted to try just flexing in a curse into my build but curses require like 50 int. I guess I could try and find int on gear. Wanted to try firestorm too but that is also very high in the int department. I think this because witch and sorc are two classes that start in the same part of the skill tree. So they added the "witch" gems and the "sorc" gems. Whereas warrior has just the "warrior" gems but not the "marauder" gems. Same with merc only having his gems but not the duelist. And neither templar nor druid are in right now and they each have their own gems.

As someone who actually went to school and got a Master's in game design, some of the decisions being made in this game are incredibly baffling. Like 1 step forward, 3 steps back.

D4 had problems at launch, but nothing on this magnitude.

So the problem with PoE2 is that the balance for the campaign is fucking garbage. But when the average player is going to take 40-50 hours to beat the campaign that becomes a huge problem as the vast majority of people will quit before they actually hit the endgame that is supposed to be the main focus of this early access
