I played a spectral throw multi projectile axe scion in POE1 and had so much fun.

Please just tell me, is Bonestorm good or not? I'm just at the end of Act 1 and got this skill and it seems like it can do an assload of damage but is slow to start and worse makes you slow while using it when this game is all about moving fast? Also it seems like it does phys damage so I need to spec into those nodes and items? Spell damage won't help it?

Am I alone with this? Every single boss feels the exact same, all you do is dodge their obvious telegraphed attack, avoid the fire AoE on the ground, watch out for when they do something that makes stuff fall from the ceiling/sky and bonus point if they have a slow orb or something following you.
All you do is roll roll > attack > roll > attack > roll roll >attack for 10min unless you got lucky with a good weapon drop and kill them faster.
It's like dark souls where every single boss feels the same because it just relies on the players to spam the shitty dodge button.

And it's even worse in hardcore when some bosses have one-shots that one-shots you even if you're overgeared, overleveled and have way too much defensive stuff. Like the colossus in act 2. Nothing else barely damages you, then they do a one-shot skill that deals 1000x more damage than anything else.

Its hilarious how bad balancing of this game is.
Also what was the issue with having the Skill Gem vendor? I've saved some Gems in my stash and it allowed my second character experiment with the skills without handicapping itself. It improved the gameplay. Its still challenging without feeling the game is holding me off by retarded design.
What a stupid set of design and tuning decisions.

Yes the bosses have nice animations but none of them actually have interesting patterns or mechanics that can trip you up, you just dodge when they glow red and only attack from the back. They're all just Brutus but with dark souls tracking slams.

Why did you choose blood mage for summoner?
I'm not too far on my own blood mage but crit physical isn't too bad. Bonestorm is ass to play due to channeling and literally missing on small mobs (insects and small animals), but it chunks bosses hard. I will be switching to Reap or Exsanguinate once I get the related weapon. Seems at least better than summoner where blood mage contributes nothing but infinite curse duration.

So far the only boss i hate is the Rattlecage (first Trial).
The whole mechanic being designed around not getting hit (Lose Honor) is fucking retarded. It punishes way too many builds and playstyles.

I'll share a little secret on Mercenary with crossbows.
If you hold down a "Load ammo type" skill then tap another one while still holding down it causes two things:
IF the tapped skill ammo count is 0 then just by tapping it reloads that ammo really fast then it switches back to the held skill.
This triggers a reload animation cancel bug where if you reload manually after the ammo count reaches 0 or as the projectile is shot you basically instantly reload.

Steps to do:
1. Reduce ammo count to 0 on one skill.
2. Hold another skill then tap the one with 0 ammo count. This reloads the skill.
3. Start manually reloading after emptying the ammunition on skills to cancel the reload animation thus reducing the downtime.
This way merc is actually pretty good but nades seem to be still better overall.

i am but i think GGG needs to tune difficulty of the game no matter what build i just seem underlevelled around act 2/3 espcially with the labrynths, more loot and regals/exalts are needed too, i absolutely love this game its the only thing i want to play it just needs some tweaks here and there and polished with combat more gems gear, this and that etc but as a foundation best ARPG ever made easily

and yes im getting my shit pushed in and im enjoying it

A lot of fun
The difficulty is great, my biggest gripe with the game right now is the fuck HUEG maps.
Usually i don't mind them, but some maps in Act 3 had me going "ok, this is enough, what the fuck its still going"

yeah, its my damage is the issue, it takes me a long time to kill things like it happened with my monk in cruel act 1, its happened with my SRS witch in act 2 lab its really a gear issue, im taking damage nodes for minion and spells no change either

I'm playing hardcore and will wait to play again until(if) they fix loot drops. There's no fun spending hours and hours clearing big ass zones and gain nothing from it. You are also insanely reliant on gear on hardcore and it's more luck based than anything else right now if you get a good drop or not.

Why do people say this bullshit? A witch will NEVER want melee stuff or weapon, same with sorc or ranger. Builds are more streamlined than ever and everyone playing a class will want the same kind of affixes and stuff.
If someone makes a meme shit build that's fine, but you shouldn't balance and cater the entire loot and game around this 0.00001% of the playerbase.

Poe1 for me was like a 9/10 had like 6 different characters and builds and got them all pretty far having fun
Diablo 1/Hellfire: recently replayed a good 7/10, it's solid and can still hold up if you're patient and don't expect it to be like modern arpg lootadhdfests
Titan Quest: 8/10 I really like the setting, aesthetics, and story but the itemization needed work and some other QOL changes
Grim Dawn: 7/10 it was TQ but good but then too easy. Almost any build plowed through the game without much effort or challenge
Diablo 2 with PlugY: 10/10 Plugy adds all the QoL while keeping core game intact and I literally made one of each class and finished hell on each in the last year trying all sorts of fun gear and builds. Even after all these years, it's still near perfect and PlugY helps make it even more perfect.

It's kind of funny to see redditors praising the difficulty when it's actually so much fucking easier than PoE1. It's literally impossible to brick your build unless you do retarded shit on purpose, like picking all ice nodes and then you decide to only use fireball. Since support gems drop constantly and they always do at a relatively high level, if you want to change anything about your build, you can do it with no issue at all.
Yes, drops are worse, crafting is harder and you can get bodyblocked, but that's not rhe reason casual players drop the game in the first place; it's not following a guide and wanting to change everything about their build mid act 5, when they start dying because they don't understand resistances.

Melee witches weren't a thing in PoE 1 either because if you wanted a melee summoner you played Templar. Templar had 2-3 minion skills which you could use to fill the entire screen with 30+ shining ghost knights.

My damage is so low bros. Every boss fight is 15-20 minute fights for me. Any DPS race boss in the game I will lose to. I don't even know what I am doing wrong honestly. Just doing melee warrior stuff.

Use your basic melee attack for single target damage until you unlock Perfect Strike, which is like a megaman charged blast that you have to time right for heavy damage, use Boneshatter when you see a yellow ball on an enemy. Don't use Armourbreaker, its a meme skill.

The Slam skills are NOT your main source of damage, their point is to stun enemies or cause those yellow balls to appear, then you use combo abilities to do a lot of damage.

Why do you think melee is bad? Get an up to date mace and a few damage nodes on tree and proper support gems and you shred bosses so fast.

Can someone explain to me the point of Blood Mage? You pick the ascendency and get one of the biggest "debuffs" in the game, you now deal 20% of your HP to do spells for a chance to get a 50hp drop when you kill an enemy.
The only good thing I can see out of blood mage is that the crit passives are good later on, but is the entire ascendency really just getting the biggest debuff imaginable in the game just so you can have good passives 200h later in the game? Why the fuck do I get WAAAY weaker when getting my ascendency?

The build diversity isn't great, the endgame is shit eating boring, the trading is aweful, the itemization really isn't as good as people say
I also hate immunities but that's fixed with charms.

Make sure to get bone cage too. Then just bone cage monsters and channel your bonestorm
I finished act 1 with it, feels alright. But probably will switch to non channeling spell, because it's just slow. Deals lots of damage to bosses fully charged.

If you don't play hardcore there is literally no reason at all to get defensive stuff. There's ZERO downside to dying, so why would you want more defensive stuff when you can just deal more damage and clear things faster?

I was watching a complete normie streamer play this for the first time, not sponsored. He was on console. He was praising it constantly at how cool everything was and how it all looked. Chat was on the same page and everyone was saying they want to play it immediately.
Streamer pressed RB / LB on accident in the gems window and his mind was blown at how many skills there are.
Anither streamer who has never played poe started playing it and normally stops around midnight. He was up past 6 am and couldn't stop playing it.
This game is a huge hit.

Ok D4 might be a 6/10, but I don't understand the hate. The gameplay is in a fun place right now, endgame is good, multiplayer is good, build diversity is fine at best. But that doesn't constitute a dramatically lower score I think.

Considering this is a pre-release beta its safe to say that its going to become the best ARPG ever made - yes above D2. It its current state its already incredible even with so much to iron out. 1) Waystone sustain in t3 is straight up bad. For t1 and t2 you could just easily buy or combine them. But for a t3 you would need to spend 45k and even if you got the waystone atlas node and juice them you're not guaranteed to drop one during a map.

2) The 3rd trial is WAY WAY WAAAAAAY overtuned. Both of them. And it's not because of the general difficulty, it's because of the cancerous mods that are stacking up.

curses. you get infinite curse duration
slap down Despair on the ground and put Enfeeble on Blasphemy. throw down your Dark Effigy and put Contagion on anyone. throw out Essence Drains until either A) you're close to finishing everyone off or B) they're getting too close. then just walk in and POP POP POP with Hexblast until everyone's dead
only problem is HP/Mana costs but those can be reasonably mitigated with leech and Mana regen

There is literally nothing stopping them from getting an ai to look at the passive tree and spit out Stat distributions for various archetypes and then cross referencing that with skill modifiers to come up with effective power levels of skills. Yes. I just have three complaints.
I wish the side quests weren't on opposite ends of the map as this causes a lot of backtracking. But then this wouldn't be much of a problem if the maps weren't so huge. Lastly, currency drops were much lower than I expected after all of Johnathan's interviews on currency drop rates which makes progression go back to relying a lot on the trade site.

The only thing to really cast on minion death is flame wall to fully automate SRS in the first place. I've seen some people claim it's worth and you will have the spirit for it but outside of casting flame wall for witch you're not spamming shit to begin with so I feel it's a bit pointless.

You have to use your regular skill points to allocate them.
They're not bonus additional points on top of your regular points, you just unlock an allowance to use the feature.

Basically, its not worth doing unless you have some specific 2 weapon build.

You have a hammer and crossbow. You have 60 skill points and 20 weapon slot skill points. They are not extra points. You assign 20 of your total points to random side nodes under your hammer and then you assign those same 20 under the crossbow. When you have your hammer out you have 60 total assigned skill points with 20 being, I don't know, random shit you have like physical leech or whatever. When you swap to the crossbow you still have 60 total assigned with 20 now being crit chance or reload speed. It's niche.

Endgame atlas is just better than poe and will only get better as they add more leagues and classes and such

So if my skeleton has 6000k life, that means he is applying an ignite as if he did a 1200 damage hit. base magnitude is 20% of that damage a second over 4 seconds. So that means an enemy standing next to my minion is taking 240 damage a second?

If this is correct, I would like to further ask where does minion damage come into the calculation?

i genuinely think the pace of the combat is like 100x better than poe and honestly preferred going forward, but the pace of character progression feels awful, the acts are longer, there should be more skill points acquired and you should have access to more links way way waaaay earlier than act 3

holy fuck ultimatum is a buggy dogshit mess. Got to the boss first time, almost killed him then got oneshot by the tornado. Whatever, go again. Get to the boss and it is literally bugged, not in the boss arena so it just won't land on the ground almost ever. Die to circles eventually. Go again, get a stupid fucking crystal pick up room, no idea where to place the crystal, it kills you. cool. Sanctum and ultimatum have both been the only thing I fucking hate about this game. Absolutely ruins the experience.

It's kind of funny they claim to be inspired by souls games and elden ring when
1. The player character is faster than 99% of enemies in every souls game and experienced players can easily sprint past entire groups of enemies they don't feel like fighting or just skip straight to the boss room
2. Elden Ring literally added a fucking turbo zoom mount that's also got a fucking double-jump that makes over world traversal even faster than it's ever been where if you want you can just ride around styling on enemies who can never catch you.

The decisions to make the trials sanctum and ultimatum of all fucking things IS retarded and shitty, but I'd advise just slotting a fake melee gem since they're so easy to set up and playing off of that. Molten Blast or Glacial Cascade or whatever melee skill you have that hits from a mile away.

I think i failed the quest coin but i did another run with a different coin from the run that I succeeded and i couldnt get 3rd ascendancy node
Went back to kill balbala again later and she didnt drop a coin despite quest log telling me to go to her
I think its bugged or we’re supposed to do 3 floors

Btw the boss in 2nd floor was amazing. Very similar to PoE 1 version but way more interesting

in d2 1.0 you started out with basically no stam recovery and there were very few movespeed boots or stam regen boots
potions weren't sold in towns so you couldn't just bring a million stam potions like you can now
and every time you ran out of stam you started walking
but you wouldn't start recovering stam until you stopped walking and started walking again
this is the experience they have nostalgia for

Spent like three hours so far bashing my head against the brick wall of a boss.
I feel like this is probably a walk in the park for ranged characters. All the ultimatums seem to fuck over melee characters disproportionately. Floor is lava and ranged characters just move a few steps to the left and ignore it. Melee the floor under and around the boss is lava and now I just can't attack him.

How are you scaling flicker strike? I just noticed there's a support gem that breaks armor on heavy stun, which sounds great since the armor breaker skill I have to hit heavily armored things like six times to break their armor, it doesn't seem worth the lost DPS from just hitting it with perfect strike six times instead, since the armor break goes away after only like 3 or 4 perfect strikes anyay.

honestly the increased range of AoE's with 2H's makes me want to go back...
if weapon swapping would queue the action when tried during an attack or roll I would just swap for different skills like they intended

I’m SRS arsonist infernalist and toying with Contagion and the totem that shoots nearby enemies afflicted with a chaos DoT. I’m using Unearth to make contagion-afflicting bone minions. Is there some way I can automate either a. Unearth casting on corpses or b. Applying contagion?
