This game is GOD tier aRPG for me.

3000h of PoE1, around 1200 of D2R and 800 of GD

PoE2 delivered. It's THE game I've been waiting for my life. A proper, difficult, complex aRPG where not only stat check matter but skill to play.

My Merc is now level 40, I'm having absolute blast. I died over 35 times but MY GOD it feels good to have boss fights that actually require some thinking and not just facetanking everything using OP build made by some streamer.

Game is gorgeous, challenging, deep, complex but ALWAYS fun for me. In a way it reminds me my looooong playsessions of Monster Hunter Worlds.
Every fight is a challange but overcoming that challange feels so goddamn good!

PLEASE GGG! PLEASE!!! Stick to your vision!!!!!

miss the old gem system. it just made sense. got a blue hole? put a blue ball in it, is it linked? the balls interact. now the new gem system only lets me put two gems in at once without telling me how to get more links, plus leveling gems is a huge pain and my inventory is always filled with low level uncut gems

I've personally enjoyed the game, for the most part. But leveling a 2nd character at the moment, if act 4/5/6 is as much of a slough as act 2 is, I might just remain a PoE1 player.
The beetles rushing by the bajillion to block you against a wall is incredibly annoying.
The Dreadnought portion of the act is so incredibly unfun that I'm struggling to make it through a 2nd time.

Shitters kind of ruin everything I have ever played though, I don't want everything I ever try to play or dedicate any time to, to be rendered into something "mindless" because these people always "need to turn their brain off", whatever the fuck that even means. I don't go to their 'mindless' games and try to change it to something else, but they're always in every game I play complaining nothing is fun and everything needs to be changed. Whenever devs cave to them, those people are gone and complaining about the next game.

It always boils down to it being really lazy people trying to suck the life out of everything because they hate adversity and hate having to focus on anything. "I like games, I just don't have fun playing them." Literally not my problem, most of these people ought to see a therapist.

I genuinely really like the witches dialog. Every word out of her mouth is as edgy as possible. Plus I don't feel bad ignoring the story playing as her since she's ignoring it too and just wants to kill stuff, raise corpses, and get more powerful. Just like me!

New gem system is such a huge step back. I don't understand why they needed to change it at all, I'm not seeing any benefits or interesting novelties that it adds. Just strictly worse as far as I can tell. Stuff not being bound and glued to your gear is nice but they didn't need to botch and redesign the entire system just to address that.

Temporal Rift is insanely good. The other stuff I'm not sure but I do want to try cooldown refresh hammer thing. Currently I'm just playing fireblast ignite in a3 cruel and it destroys everything.

tier 2 support gems feel very underwhelming compared to tiers 1 and 3. charging enemies taking you for a ride is annoying. jewler's orbs being solely drop based feels really bad since I didn't find my first one until I was almost done with cruel act 1. at least give a quest or 2 that gives the lowest tiers as rewards before then.

Yeah that seemed to do it, I guess if you keep moving around too close to the cliffs you will trigger more attacks from the mobs shooting you off the map. The most annoying thing was column AOE arrows coming but when I stayed close to the boss, they didn't do it once

i don't remember the explanation to maps in poe1 but i like the one they gave it in 2, basically the world ended and now you're stuck in the past cleansing places bit by bit, it ties in to the campaign and it really is part of the campaign still, i think at the end of mapping progress you should fight the beast and only then actually finish the campaign

I believe the intent was to use Honour as a measurement of skill, but this isnt fucking it in the aarpg.
My build allows to win the encounter, why the fuck was it importance minimized by some arbitrary bar that gets depleted if i get hit?
You may as well just let me run with LvL1 naked skilless passiveless character, autoattack and ROLL button, for my build and playstyle dont fucking matter.
Whoever made that system is certified brainlet and i see this shit removed before F2P release.

They got rid of complex character building and crafting mechanics, which is knowledge-based, to better serve the new audience they are seeking, which is the Souls game fans. The problem with PoE2, more than just the slow gameplay, is the dumbing down of character building and crafting. It's why life was removed from the tree and why every node is just "increase X". Crafting on the other hand got butchered. People might not realize now, but once you get into mapping and try to craft, they'll realize. It's just pure rng, when with PoE1, you could play SSF and craft semi-deterministically good gear for yourself, if you grinded enough currency. Now all grinding gives you is more pulls on the slot machine.

Nah you don't even need to get to maps, it's pretty obvious the second you try to craft anything. Basically, every single crafting action is additive and random, except for chaos orbs and annuls. Even essences are way more random than they used to be. You are basically supposed to craft dozens of blues until you get a perfect one, repeat that until you have dozens of perfect blues, then Regal every single one of them and pick the best one then exalt slam it and hope for the best. Then maybe, if you have something almost good that you wouldn't mind losing, you throw a chaos orb or two at it and hope you nuke the affixes that suck.

I don't even need to have done any of this to know that that is how it is supposed to work, it's obvious just looking at the currency on the wiki. Complete step down from the old system.

I mean I'll admit that if we actually were swimming in currency it wouldn't be a terrible system because outside of vaaling an item you can't really brick it, but we definitely aren't swimming in currency so the cost of doing this entire cycle even once is so extreme that most players will never even attempt it. I really want to know where all that fucking currency Jonathan was talking about is supposed to be, because the way he was talking it seems like the rare currency drops were supposed to be about 10x to 20x what they are in actuality.

I think having unlimited currency wouldn't fix the current crafting, because it lacks all player agency. You aren't actually crafting, you are just performing the only action you can. It might as well be automated for all the thought and input the player provides. It's why PoE1's crafting was so much better, as all the currencies, different systems and metacrafting allowed you to influence what you got. That was crafting, not this.

Well yeah, if they were smart they would be shitting out essences everywhere and those essences would be usable like chaos orbs, and there would also be negative essences to nuke specific affix pools and other shit. The idea of never having a scouring orb or a brick is a fine one for crafting, but unless you are going to give people an abundance of resources (and expect them to use all of those resources pulling the slot machine lever like a monkey until things turn out the way they want), all it really introduces is tedium. You can tell they didn't really play test the crafting much, if at all.

Based on what he said exalts were supposed to be dropping in plenty. I've found maybe 10 on my character that's in act 1 cruel. Being able to fill 3 items with mods over the course of 50 levels isn't a lot of crafting.

Actually, an even better version of that essence idea would be to merge the positive and negative essences together so that every essence that drops will add an affix from one pool and remove an affix fom another pool (if possible, if not possible it just selects randomly). You would end up with a billion fucking essence types so trading them would be important and useful, and the crafting system would be relatively deterministic for intelligent players. You would basically transmute, augment, Regal, slam four times, and then you would need a certain number of specific essences to get the affixes you want. Obviously there are still tiers to think about, but maybe another type of currency could come in for that.

But you know I'm a pretty smart guy so they would never hire me to do any work like this at GGG.

Yep, almost every single problem with the game can be solved by smoothing the difficulty curve a little bit and increasing the amount of loot especially from bosses. Hell, you could probably just increase it only from bosses. Make it so that every boss kill drops an exalt, throw more essence mobs into areas, make artificers orbs more common. It's not fucking rocket science, the game isn't even that hard and the skills aren't that bad when you actually have gear but you never have fucking gear because nothing drops so you have to get lucky at the vendor. It's retarded.

new support gem and skill design leads to less interesting skills than first game

I have hope that the game will turn out alright in a year or two but right now it feels really unfinished
still enjoying what I play though

This is the current main thing. Everything else is mainly tuning. I do however think the discussions anons were having on crafting raise some potential long term concerns but those are also things they could fix by making more deterministic currency options available. I like gambling as long as I'm not using real money so it doesn't bother me that much but the drop rate is too low to facilitate it as a primary progression as it currently stands. Also more movement speed options please give us either a d2 like sprint, reduce map size, mounts or at least increase mob density, chests/breakables and drop rates so travelling maps doesn't feel as soggy while waiting for league content to fill out empty space

They should just steal the sense idea where it adds from one pool and removes from another pool. Cut chaos orbs entirely, replace them with a gorillion "chaos essence" types. It's not like they would even guarantee specific mods or good tier rolls so it's not super fucked, but it's a hell of a lot more fun than a slot machine.

Bone Cage is like tripple of the damage of every other Occultist and Elemental spell at Lvl6 so far (except for Drain Essence but Bone Cage is just more versatile).
Ive tried to use some lightning and fire skills but i shit you not - they barely tickle NORMAL mob hp.
Its laughable how badly tuned spells in this game are.

People complain about Poe2 being slow because they want their ascendancy and stuff. Poe skill tree is so large that it doesnt work with a slow game. The game must be balanced around endgame which means players all just want to rush that endgame. If you would wake up at the beach, get 50 skill points, all 8 of your ascendancy, a couple of each gems and could pick every skill you want with no level restriction then nobody would care how slow this game is. This problem is the essence of what makes people hate sanctum trials. They are a well polished mechanic that can be fun, but in Poe it is like making a rollercoaster and then forcing people to run them.

Like say you have a double physical roll on a weapon but both of them are low tier and you want to try to get better tiers, you would need to use at least four chaos essences, possibly more if something fucks up.

When you consider how many types there would be, it would still be quite an investment to build a specific piece of gear using this sort of system, but it would be relatively deterministic so even though you are slot machining a little bit it's more like trying to win a coin flip a few times in a row.

in soft core you just trade while maximizing divines an hour and in ssf you just spam expedition/essences/betrayal and craft with rog. the game is incredibly stale unless you are in the very extreme top end of crafting which isn't even required to do anything in the game. it is so easy to do literally everything in that game because everything is free. there is no slow progression youre just a slow player.

I did the same thing, I didn't even realize you could choose elemental spells as witch for the longest time. Plus raging spirits is a "spirit gem" and the way it interacts with fire spells is a bit unintuitive. Being able to create minions reliably without corpses is really useful though.

Nah just add an out-of-combat toggled "sprint" or something that makes you move like 30% faster
It's not the size that's the problem, it's the movement speed, but you can't change in-combat movespeed without fucking up every boss in the game
