I had a wand and focus on my sorc that I crafted in act 1 that I had right up until I hit maps. It was fucking awful. Constantly spent every bit of currency I had, checked every act vendor on every level up, ID'd every blue & rare and found nothing better. The best I got was a wand that was like 10dps worse.

Is anyone else just of bored? Like I'm in Act 2 Cruel and im not having much difficulty and my build is great, but I don't have much will to keep playing. My gear has been mostly the same for 20 levels and nothing exciting drops or happens.

I think fire gets worse the further you get into the game because both sorc ascendencies are trash for fire.

Yeah it's fucked, I only managed to get through it because I got crazy lucky and didn't roll any extra damage, extra durability, or stage fuckery mods. Took seven tries. I have no idea what the fuck they were thinking, lab might have been boring but at least it was mostly static so you knew what to expect and could plan around it, both of the different trial types in poe2 are basically just RNG.

I got almost all of my upgrades from buying gear from vendors. You should have been checking them every time you went back to town after levelling. They very frequently have life+res armor and increased phys/added phys weps.

At this point I hope they do fire him, the sheer number of lies he told during the last year or so is insane. There is no fucking way they actually tested this game, end to end with no cheats, even one time before Early Access. I'm at the end of cruel as bloodmage and I'm fine.
I have 1.3k life and 1k ES and I use the overflow ES buff, when mapping I'm clearing fast enough I can keep both life nad ES at overflow cap for over 4k life pool. I run vitality on the bloodmage ability and during bosses I just don't get hit to recover life/ES

This is core design that will never change. GGG was perfectly fine with melee having <10% representation in POE1 and being completely unable to do Sanctum. I'm getting a buffer underflow crash in the instance. Every time I log in, it logs back same instance (Jungle Ruins). Instances are only up for 15 minutes though before they expire if there's no one in it. Just wait 15 minutes and you'll be able to login.

Depends on what you find fun. It is fast-paced and shreds enemies and bosses incredibly fast but will get deleted if anything sneezes on it. Also the lightning skills lean heavily into generating and using power charges which adds another layer of management involving several different skills that you might not like.

Yeah I'm kind of there as well, the balance is just not right. At least in poe1 even if I'm doing some off-meta dog shit retard build I can get through the acts and I actually feel like my character is improving as I level up. In 2 it feels almost exactly like doing a low level run in a souls game, except without all of the instant death (maybe just a little bit of instant death) and with a massively inflated health bar. They're just isn't any progression that feels good, you barely speed up at all as you gain more abilities and every boss fight is the same rollslopping crap where you just bait out its basic melee strikes because they are the easiest to avoid while spamming whatever is fast enough to get a hit in, or you press three buttons and delete it if you want to play one of the stupid meta builds.

I don't think the basic gameplay is bad, but I think almost every single numerical balance decision is completely wrong. This doesn't feel like a game with 5 years of Dev time behind it, this feels like a game that was thrown together in about a year after 4 years of making 3D assets and recording audio.

Can you see yourself putting 100+ hours into PoE2 in its current state? Or even 50?

The main issue with Warrior and melee is it has no other classes currently to synthesize with, Monk is on the opposite side of the tree and requires too much Int.
Will prob feel a lot better when Swords, Axes and Spears are in to combo with your big Mace sloooms.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I mean. There's no way Jonathan sat down and played through acts 1 to 3 continuously without stopping or editing in currency for himself or skipping around to avoid certain content. The time estimate of 25 hours for the first three acts is pretty accurate if you're doing everything, but it is really fucking padded and it's obvious that it's padded to anyone who's playing it. The loot is bad, most skills are bad, tons of things they promised are just plain not correct.
Compare and contrast to Jonathan's favorite fucking game apparently, Elden Ring, where after 25 hours you will probably be in Leyndell with a considerable amount of player power unless you were deliberately fucking around or genuinely just suck and got hard stuck on a boss for hours on end. I don't even really like Elden Ring, but the feeling of progression and advancement in that game is leagues above poe2, and even the shitty weapons feel usable.

You can cope and blame rng but there are literally several different mods a weapon can roll that will make it a clear upgrade in power and the game drowns you in transmutes and augments.
If you are struggling with damage by the midpoint of act 2 then it is a brain cell problem, not an rng problem.

Maps are fine in Act 1, they start pushing the limit of Size in Act 2. The Dreadnaught is the first ridiculous map. Every Map in Act 3 is way way way to fucking big. Especially when there's only maybe 1 or 2 extra stuff you need to do. Bonus points when that extra shit doesn't spawn because it's bugged. Nearly every single map overstayed it's welcome in Act 3 by a lot.

Bosses are okay there's just massive issues in readability. I'm using Frost Spells so it's hard as hell to see what effects on the ground are from my Frost Spells and which are from the enemies Frost Spells. A massive Health bar taking up a good chunk of the top of the screen blocking what the boss is doing if they're stood there. Hard to even see what the boss is doing if they're small enough under all the spell effects and other shit.

A few bosses have outright bad design. The final boss in Act 1, why in the fuck is the dash through the middle during his add intermission random. Fucking Genshin Impact has a boss with this mechanic and even they had the brains to give it a telegraph.

What I mean by basic gameplay is just how the game feels to operate. In my opinion it is an improvement over poe1, wasd is pretty nice and being able to move while attacking and casting is also nice. It doesn't feel clunky, which is a lot better than poe1 sans speed boots + movement abilities.
The t17 comparison is pretty accurate as well, except of course you can't bisect the fucking thing to make it trivial and you don't have six portals on SC. Still, that level of difficulty would be okay if the rest of the balance wasn't so completely fucked. When games like last epoch and Diablo 3 compare favorably to this, that's a bit alarming.

Also if the little fucks that shoot ropes into you ever get close to you they do some rapidfire attack that will kill you almost instantly but other than that I had no issues

The only boss over the course of the entire story that gave me trouble was the big titan guy in act 2. He has some really fast attack that one-shots if it hits you and I'm not entirely sure what the telegraph for it is, if it even has one.

The direction he charges is random. Just dodging when he recites is line is just bad design if that's the intended way to handle that mechanic and depending on which direction he he charges from you're still hoping for the best with your roll timing. If you dodge roll as soon as he finishes you could easily roll into where he is charging too and get hit. To be fair to the game no other mechanic in the game that I can remember works like that.

The map were bigger on original PoE, they made them small after 2.0 and more "speed run frendly" to accommodate the seasonal content, PoE2 will be the same, on release it will be huge maps but after 2 or 3 seasons they will shrink little by little the maps to the point of completing the 6 acts in 6 hours easily.

I thought so. I was comparing the health of someone who was solo doing the last boss in Act 2. Just us transitioning him into Phase 2 had more health than the solo person had in phase 2 total.

Now that I have proper burst/nuke spells setup I'm noticing a lot that bosses just seem to randomly go immune/take a lot less damage with no indication of anything actually going on, it's pretty annoying.

So along this line of thought, Crossbow Mercenary was a huge fucking mistake and I need to pivot to something that actually does, what's the word I'm thinking of, oh yeah; damage.
I guess the best thing would be to go bow? I'm kind of fucked on skill gems at the moment though and can only build like, 4 skills. What are the must haves?
I also love the great boss design in this game where every encounter isn't just some variation of half the floor does damage to you and any given moment now dodge these attacks that also fill up a quarter of the screen and maybe we'll throw in a second melee boss to makes things extra fun. Good shit.

I agree. In Elden Ring, which POE2 is trying to rip off so hard, I actually have options to counter bosses with weaknesses, levelling up, gearing up, and statting defensively. None of this is possible in POE2, bosses are just generic number walls that spam one shot AOE slams.

I think Chronomancer is the general sorc ascendancy. The other one is for child and lightning and Chrono is for everything else.

PoE1 is a great game for people who just want to have fun. It’s a lighter experience, figuratively and visually.

Most of the time, I do prefer the dark visuals and tone of PoE2 and I do think it is a deeper game. But I’m really happy PoE1 exists.

PoE2 is whiskey. PoE1 is a margarita. There’s a time and place for both and it really depends on your taste and mood.

I remember getting excited and anxious about Izaro's big wind up one shot slam and the traps that take 3 second to kill you. Now with the new ascension trial I get to enjoy barely telegraphed one shots, bullet hell, and an arbitrary nigger points bar that completely empties if I stand in the fire covering 90% of the ground for 3s total over the entire run. Honestly yeah, while I appreciate the meta shaking up, and new builds and stuff to experiment with I don't know how long the dodge and shield block mechanics are going to be fun, It's already getting tedious to me having to shield check every single fucking corner to make sure my butthole doesn't get torn inside out. So far I've seen an enormous lack of defensive and mobility spells, I really hope you're not locked to your basic shield raise and your dark souls tard roll the entire game. D4 atleast gave you variety and options for how you wanted to conduct your defensive operations. While there is a lot of interesting changes I don't know if it ultimately makes it any funner in the long run.

Archers are actually good if you put def shred on their poison and focus on physical damage. Mages are good if you play around their element. And arsonists are good when you focus on their explosion procs

Depends. What do you mean by level up? Orbs/currency can turn a white item into a blue item, add mods to blues, upgrade blues to yellows, add mods to yellows, turn a white item yellow with 4 random mods, etc. You can also use armorer orbs to add sockets to gear and quality materials to boost them up to 20% quality.

The real endgame is trying to generate your perfect items for your build
