I'm playing Sorc and I'm clapping everything. I have tried Warrior and Monk and the game is at the brink of being a bit on the easy side. This is Early Access and everything can change, hopefully not towards the easier end.

After the first Boss I got a staff giving me 5 levels of Freezing Shards and 67% Freeze Build up. I had such an easy time that after Lachlan I tried both Monk and Warrior. Al tough not as strong as the Sorc it still felt like I was just "kinda" walking in the park

no, it's lords of the fallen 2014 boss design but with swarms of enemies added and poe1 style invulnerability phases, with some questionable mechanics ripped from souls games and elden ring in particular, like stakes of marika, and dodge rolls, but there's no stamina or resource on those, and they're crazy janky with collision on 80 kajillion enemies

Finally an ACTION rpg that backs its in depth customization with a meaningful combat experience.

PLEASE GGG if you need to buckle to the screen-clearing kids that’s cool but carve out a mode that preserves this experience - it’s so great!

My 1st career was as a chef and a golden rule was you can always add seasoning but you can’t subtract it. We have so many ARPGs where they have given in to the easy mode crowd and it’s very hard to go back from there. Please please allow POE2 stand for something different despite the awkward adjustment phase.

All the dark souls tourists will be gone after they finish the game in a couple weeks. Normal arpg players will also have moved on since no one actually likes ruthless. Not many people will be left caring about the game until the first season, at which point GGG will have either gotten the message or they won't. I'm guessing they won't since they're elitist retards and will die trying to shove ruthless down everyone's throats.

He's using it in the webm. The skill where he jumps up, drops the pods, and poisons to detonate early.
The pods can be layered down for massive aoe damage. You can also lure the boss to a wall after podding it up and shotgun every pod explosion in a single detonate.
That boss in particular also lets you pre-lord your pods before you spawn him.

Perfect Strike is decent, his animations are long and you can move behind him and slam him. I mainly used auto attack though, which is fucked up and just swung at him.

In the areas i legit just ran past everything, you can select for trials that are safe if you're worried. Traps and Ritual seemed safe, Escape or the Blood one seemed dangerous

yeah I think S7 was generally pretty awesome. it just sucks that there's no reason to play an alt this season because of spiritborn being so overtuned. if they fix the imbalances S8 is going to be sweet.

So you can use it with a bow or do you have to weapon swap to no weapon? There are like 3 .1 mana flask a second nodes, and a .1 mana flask a second mana flask affix. add in the like 100% inc flask gained you can get, that's still only like .8 charges a second. So 6 seconds to be able to throw one concoction, seems really bad. Maybe there will be like belt mods or something?

It eats primed to stun so it seemed like a trap to me. I went for the aftershock thing but even that wasn't great. I was tempted to go warbringer for the armour break but i don't know how relevant 10% of damage is.

I'm using that skill almost exclusively though. Just made it to act 3, it's fucking amazing early. Bursts every boss down fast as fuck, and when you get a poison arrow cloud at 22 you can carpet bomb anything.

listen up faggots, some criticisms from someone that's actually enjoying the game
>way too many travel nodes on the passive tree, feels really bad to take them

I got better items and it made the latter part of act 1 almost kind of fun but it was immediately invalidated by the first boss in act 2, and no the game didn't give me anything better from the boss, and yes I used orbs and have all blue and yellow items

So as someone who holds Diablo 2 as the golden standard and hasn't enjoyed one since would this scratch the itch?
What I'm looking for is something that's fun to play solo, lots of randomization in loot drops where normal shit can carry you but the rare shit has all sorts of crazy effects, rare enemies, shitloads of secrets, randomized maps, etc.
I'd rather not have gacha shit but I can tolerate it if it's there and not p2w levels of bullshit that gets in the way of playing the game normally.

Are there people actually being filtered by Rathbreaker? How to do the fight
1. fight him at the bottom part of the elevated platform
2. strafe slowly around him to avoid his red oneshot attack
3. when he gets low all the hyenas will run up onto the platform
4. aoe all the hyenas while being mindful not to get trapped and oneshot by his red oneshot attack. This is generally achieved by having situational awareness and moving sideways

That's it. It's not hard. How did you beat Act 1's final boss and not beat this one?

This is the closest any modern ARPG is to D2 but it's still fundamentally a very different game. It's slow, challenging, and has more freeform character progression than 99% of games. You can be whatever you want to be, just take a look at this thread and see how different people's experiences are. It feels like loading up Diablo 2 for the first time all those years ago. Community opinion turned D4 from something unique (albeit flawed) into D3.5 where it basically played itself and you could play it in your sleep.

GGG, please don’t let reddit turn POE2 into another loot pinata zoom fest. I like the lower drop chance as it feels like my gear matters - fighting enemies actually feels difficult and using skill combinations rather than spamming one skill is rewarding.

There's plenty. Most of the time you will use magic items with good bases. Add a mod then turn it into a rare one. You can feel the difference with a gear upgrade.

It definitely feels inspired by d2. I play a lot of d2r and so far, where I'm at in act 3, it's the closest to recapturing the magic of d2 of the arpgs I've played. They're entirely different games though, and close doesn't mean they pulled it off. The core mechanics are too different to say if you liked one you'll like the other. If you won't miss the $30 then sure why not. If your finances are stressed put it off till it goes free.
Game keeps crashing too so hopping on early might not be the best.

So far it lack that oompf of finding a new weapon that provides meaningful impact that d2 loot had.

They're ok at best. SRS is basically mandatory until you hit 50-60 level range and actually get enough points to actually build them up defensively. Clear on a lot of maps is completely miserable since they get blocked by corpses for some god forsaken reason. Spectres are also not in the game yet so what's on offer is pretty dull anyway.

it still feels like playing ruthless+++
the passive tree is still boring as fuck
upgrades are very few and far between
there is 99% less loot and 99% of the loot that does drop is not even worth picking up to vendor
bosses are extremely boring to fight.
its not harder, its just tedious, which leads to boredom.
having a better character doesnt make the game more fun.
it just makes it eaiser to prove how unfun the game actually is.

I think there's a bug with multiphase bosses. In both act 1 and 2 bosses I had it happen where they entered phase 2 much earlier in the fight and it felt like they were dying much faster overall.

How are people having a hard time with damage? I've gone all in on ES+evasion nodes as Monk and still did plenty fine with Quarterstaff and Glacial Cascade, and now lighting flurry and bell have brought me to a whole new level.

When does the game become fun? I chose merc and picked up on the freeze/fragment combo early but even so constantly swapping to use both while waiting for the animation to finish because dodging stops it feels awful. Actually lets double back on that, the constant fire once and reload for most of these ammo skills feels worse than if it was just stuck to whatever the attack speed of the weapon was, which would serve the same purpose without the pointless need to swap to the ammo, fire, then reload to new ammo. Likewise half the time spamming grenades works better for bosses since I can just lob all I got while they stand still and deal decent damage. Meanwhile hardly anything of note has dropped and most of the skills are still the ammo skills which already feel clunky as hell to use. I think going merc first was a mistake.

After going through everything I think the big golem is probably the worst boss in the whole game. He isn't even that hard, but the camera combined with his weird ass hitbox and the instant shotgun dagger one shot is just such a misery to fight especially once the little minions that blend into the arena show up and bodyblock you.

I would certainly hope so, I'm lvl 15 with him and already considering just starting a warrior or something instead since it's only been 5 hours. None of the skills feel particularly good right now and that I don't level and get a skill point to unlock a new skill but have to wait to find a skill gem must be something unique to PoE. I can't say I like it. It's hard to gauge what skills I want to use when even getting new skills can be up to random chance.

I love Elden Ring. I fucking hate what I've experienced in PoE 2. Elden Ring rewards you for your struggles. This game just constantly shits in your face and tells you to like it.

Nearly every lore-spot I've clicked has had voice acting, the only exception was a torture log (they don't want to be tortured, that means they're a filthy shapeshifter, etc), and every single quest line is voice acted. I didn't expect them to have that much done by now.

He has an attack that is guaranteed to lock you in a fucking prison and will often combo that with a hit that can one shot you. That was some baby back bullshit I wasn't expecting to deal with so early into the game. Same for how most of the boss fights spawn adds for some reason.

Apparently the item to increase slots starts dropping in act 3.
It's super late imo, act 3 is where you start 4 linking. Every support gem goes in my stash because I literally can't fit any more and I only just finished act 1.

I just beat him after 5+ attempts, I had to swap in a +1 poison stacks support gem and boy was my "mist phase" or whatever you want to call it terrible, I had 0 aoe damage.

So I suppose my dps when I was fully up was 65+65+31+92, though it was pretty much never fully up.

any else feeling like the animation of electrocuting arrow is way too slow, you can get hit during the entire animation and afterwards your character just stand around for ~0.5s.
during boss fights if got hit quite a few times due to that break at the end.
