Baldo lucked out that PoE 1 organically grew beyond his Vision into a game that people actually liked. Every time he tried to force it into the Vision there was a huge outcry because his Vision is fucking retarded. Nobody actually fucking plays ARPGs because they want slow and pondered play, they play ARPGs because this shit is like a needle injecting dopamine straight into your brain.

Nobody actually LIKES the slow leveling part of Diablo 2, people boosted each other all the time so they'd get their builds online ASAP and could gather together to fuck Baal or Diablo up over and over again which is the part they actually enjoyed. Likewise, PoE 1's campaign is fortunately short and simple enough that you can be in the parts that you actually like (mapping) relatively fast and even then everyone hates running it over and over again.

So not content with their failed Ruthless game mode that is the least played mode in their game, GGG has the brilliant idea of making an ENTIRE GAME of this shit. White mobs that take time to kill, huge areas full of nothing, low loot drops, skill progression depending on aforementioned low drops without even a Siosa-like vendor to get your stuff from, damage sponge bosses that reset if you make a single mistake, one-life maps, as if anyone except a minority of fucking autists actually likes this shit.

People are now in the honeymoon phase because PoE 1 is beloved (for reasons entirely beyond Baldo's control I might add) and there is this performative idea that "true gamers" must like sloggish annoying bullshit even in genres that are mean to be high speed dopamine slot machine/power fantasy chimeras. So it's got high numbers riding on that. But once the novelty wears off these numbers are going to fucking crater, because this shit lacks the addictive quality of PoE 1. Nobody wants to do that fucking Count every three months, or Sanctum just to get their ascendancy, over and over again.

Melee is dogpiss mechanically compared to the rest and even if it ends up getting big damage, the slowness and lack of burst and movement means it just trails behind everything else that can just keep strolling through zones spamming particles everywhere

What are you guys using for infernalist? Went demon form but damage seems meh and losing life is dangerous when so much can kill you anyway. Literally cannot fight in tight spaces. Detonate dead does a lot of damage but takes awhile to kill someone with incinerate and solar orb to even generate something to detonate. I probably built terribly but I wanted to try not using a guide for the first time ever for an ARPG

People are arguing over game difficulty and shit but I'm pretty sure that the real issue is that there's a massive difference in all of power, comfort and actually functioning in skills and gear. It's so RNG through the first two acts whether or not you'll get any usable equipment, and some skill sets are arranged horribly with 2-3 tiers between synergistic skills that actually play together. Elemental gets frostbolt synergies right away, quarterstaff gets charge and skill synergies right away, but you need to wait 2-3 tiers before Mercenary can actually use more than one skill in a rotation.

They need to change it so that maps/endgame can be accessed from start of game but you have to progress campaign to unlock more ability or nodes or tree stuff in the atlas.

Merc has clearly had the most time put into it so you'll be fine. People are running around blowing everything up with combos. Meanwhile other classes are slowly slapping things to death in 3 minute fights. Mapping is even more speed clear oriented than PoE1 because you have to kill a certain amount of enemies and the map boss to move on.

Same problem with Monk for me, using Tempest Flurry or Ice Strike is awful if I don't specifically aim at the corner of the screen to attack and freely move. That's my work around, just don't highlight the enemy and you should have complete controle of where the attack goes but it's just terrible to do.

Summon Raging Spirit. Spirit aura that makes fire spells shit out flaming skulls. Enemies don't attack them and they're really easy to resummon so you don't have to wait ten seconds to play the game again after every boss attack.

ATTENTION /poe2g/ GENERAL.
I need all of you to SHUT THE FUCK UP and LISTEN.

I have been playing a warrior for like 18 hours. It has been.... rough, to say the least.
I rerolled as a Monk, just to give it a test drive.
I am mowing through these early game zones at record pace. In fact, this doesn't even feel like I'm playing PoE2, it feels like PoE1. Enemies die before they can even hit me.

I am legitimately confused. I said it in jest earlier, but I think the early game or something may have been nerfed to shit. Either that or Monk is broken... which makes no sense because people have been complaining about Monk almost as much as people have been complaining about Warrior.

Can one of you nigs make a new char and run through the early zones and confirm if anything has changed? Seriously nigs, I am laying waste to everything. Bosses, rares, they just melt. I've taken all defensive nodes so far too on the passive skill tree so this makes no fucking sense why it's so far and away easier than my Warrior.

Yea, I don't know if Warrior has multihit skills but my god, it's even worse with the multihit skills that you are supposed to use with the bell. I put the bell down to beat the shit out of it but the character targets the mob/boss slightly to the left of the bell and misses it completely.

These ultimatum trials can suck my fucking dick, I don't know who the fuck decided that it was a good idea to make every fucking boss at the end of it something that just flails around like you pulled it straight out of bloodborne so it's so fucking chaotic you can't actually dodge anything but they should be castrated. Slot put the Fast Forward support gem into whatever grenade you want to use, that lowers the fuse time by 30%. Theres another one that lowers it by 25% but also lowers debuff times and then there's a talent that lowers it by 25% too.

Once you beat a boss you have essentially mastered it and it will be rare you die to it ever again, repeated kills will become faster and faster to the point it's completely trivial.

I'm a new player trying out PoE 2
The game seems to be really antagonistic to the players in a bad way. Each area is really huge and takes forever to navigate, normal mobs are really fast compared to you, spongy bosses 2-shot you, and grinding takes forever + isn't guaranteed to get you stronger.
Even Dark Souls/Elden Ring where the game takes inspiration from isn't this sadistic; in ER you can farm runes and upgrade your Vigor or weapon, and that is usually enough to get through bosses. Here you can farm for hours and get nothing for it except a level up or two, which doesn't get you much. The amount of bullshit that act 1 bosses do feel like late-game ER bosses except you're 15 minutes into the game and you have no rare gear yet
I consider myself filtered for now. I hope they would make it easier in the first few acts at least, I'll give the game another try when it is out of EA. It feels such a slog to play right now.

How does the gameplay feel compared to POE1? Is it slower?

In POE1 my builds always ended with me constantly spamming all my flasks while I ran around each map at lightspeed, then randomly dying from a one shot and having no idea what happened. Kinda cool but it got old.

I respecced and got every node in the tree that says life or ES, and looked for equipment in vendor every level up for anything that says cold res. Even then I beat him with a sliver of my HP.
The bosses have WAY too much HP. It feels like a gear check but you're literally in act 1, there's not a clear guaranteed path to improve your character and you just have to mindlessly grind mini bosses

Just hit cruel difficulty. The game is sick, but thee are 2 things that actually piss me off.

1) The map layouts are cancer, you spend WAY too long running into dead ends constantly.

2) It really sucks that the normal KMB layout is vastly inferior to controller or WASD, the whole game is designed with using skills on the go, and that's just not feasible to do with a mouse for hours.

FUCKING WHY?? One of the BIGGEST hurdles for a newfag (Besides realizing that they needed a starter guide to be even able to reach the endgame without bricking their character) was reaching high level and realizing that they have no Idea which one of the meriad of end-game activities they should do. This was the perfect opportunity to streamline the fuck out of this game, And what do they do? basically do the same over-saturated PoE endgame minus heist, delve and Blight.
Why? Why not get rid of pretty much all that shit?

So if I want to have any tools at all as a witch focused on minion damage in bossfights, I should use some fire spell with Raging spirits, right?
I just advanced to infernalist and it dawned upon me for the first time that I could learn skills in the elemental skill tree as well as occult. I saw the raging spirits passive skill but thought it was useless for me since I didn't have any fire spells lol
What are the go-to spells for raging spirits? I got incinerate thinking it would be cool to shoot fire and flaming skulls out of my hands but it seems like it doesn't work with em. Does ember fullisade work? Should I shoot for fireball?

Bloat was shit like corrupted currency, oils, fossils, replica uniques, veiled mods, and alternate gameplay mode slop like blight, delve, heist or sanctum
Unfortunately they left fucking Sanctum in and based lab had to die for it

There's the spell leech node as soon as I can get it + blood gloves to solve that, considering that ice spells are the ones with highest crit base it's pretty easy to spawn a lot of blood gloves with crits, the problem so far is the dmg is pretty lame, I still don't have comet and ice wall so I hope that helps a lot.

It took me a few tries to get into PoE. The first time the game managed to hook me in enough to get through the campaign (more like getting past a2 lol) was during Ultimatum, because Ultimatum shat out loot during leveling. Before that I tried to get into it during Delirium, Harvest and Heist, you can imagine why I wasn't hooked.
PoE 2... is slow, the maps are huge, balance is terrible, there is no loot, The game is very pretty yes, but that's really not enough.
