Design Frame's new video really changed my perspective on Security Breach
Honestly, i liked the game even on day 1 despite the glitches, but i guess that just comes down to me having stockholm syndrome towards this franchise.

It really sucks that the game is still so jank. Steel Wool saying "We're in it for the long haul" and then dropping the game after a couple patches after Ruin came out sucked ass.
Compare that to what Cyberpunk 2077 went through, and the changes are like night and fucking day.
CDPR overhauled perks, added on new missions, actually implemented a police system and added back many cut features promised for the game, not even mentioning the mountain of stuff the DLC added in.
Steel Wool? Couldn't even bother adding back survival mode, even though it was STILL being updated even when Ruin was coming out.
The video really highlighted how the "indie studio, plz understand" argument doesn't really work when you have a multimillionaire and a billion dollar studio promoting your game. Granted - scott did fuck up by being cryptic about the game to the people who are fucking making it lmao, but still.

I know retards will chimp out and screech "PATCHING IT WON'T FIX THE DAMAGED IT ALREADY CAUSED REEEEEE".
I say bullshit. I'd rather have the game be semi-complete as time goes on, rather than having it rot as the husk it already is (even if it's a REALLY shitty practice). Won't rant about Cyberpunk again cuz it feels like im shilling the game - but you don't see many people complain about the game or the controversy after patch 2.0
So much hype and what a fucking waste...

So what is up with that "Blast to the Past" mod anyway?

It's not even remotely comparable . CDPR had mostly free reign and they also had literal hundreds of milllions of dollars. Enough to hire Keanu Reeves and remake the engine from scratch twice, which ultimately bit them in the ass.
They also almost went bankrupt and had to allocate their funds back into fixing their shitpile and got a huge second wind to do so with the anime giving them a large cash injection, this is to say nothingabout cross promotion or advertising deals of which SB got very little until launch.

SW had SONY behind them, and SONY are notorious pricks who jerk around their employees. They're also a fairly inexperienced and new studio not used to working on this scale project. Combine that with Scott just not returning calls and when he did acting like he's Andy fucking Warhol and just not telling them anything causing them to waste time and assets from zero communication and you get SB.

It's still a decent game, but Sony and Scott really did their best to fuck SW up.

I do see how i haven't taken money into consideration, and i don't know the finest of details about business in the gaming industry, but you'd think Sony and Scott would chip in finance-wise to a degree?
Atleast now that Scott admitted PUBLICLY that the reason SB was garbage was partially HIS fault - he should've supported SW on that "long haul" they were talking about, thrown his hands up and say "alright, here's how we can salvage this:"
He learned his own cautionary tale with this game. Atleast i hope. Help Wanted 2 was alright supplementary material that links the previous game and whatever comes next, just like the prequel was, and we can't exactly say anything about SOTM, because the marketing is abysmally cuckoldy.

Nah. I agree Steel Wool fucked up as much as the next guy and I'm not gonna sit here and say that Security Breach isn't an insane mess, right? But, if you look back and see the patches they sent out, that shit was like the biggest bugfix lists I've ever seen. It's still a mess of course, but ultimately, I just think it wasn't viable for Steel Wool to fix it. CDPR is a much bigger studio with much more money and Cyberpunk getting fixed was a lowkey miracle.

This was a fascinating watch. I have to say, after hearing about all of the scrapped plans no pun intended and cut content, I can't help but wonder if in like two decades the game will be remade more in-line with its original vision, kind of like a lot of other prominent horror games have had several high-profile remakes in the last five years.

The biggest losses are no Vanny boss fight, and no proper race against Roxy.
Vanny's a nothing character. Maybe Scott has regrets about that now, but it's probably too little/too late, onto the next thing.
Roxy got a character arc somewhat complete through the DLC at least. But I'm willing to acknowledge that was partially due to fan feedback and wasn't planned from the very beginning.

Genuinely, what the hell is going on with this game? I know the standards for fangames have gone up exponentially in the past eight years, especially when you're part of the whole official fanverse, but this game has been in development for at least four fucking years with virtually nothing to show for it aside from some renders and character models. And this is with a whole team to boot. TJoC is arguably the more ambitious game, and yet that game's development still seems to be going faster despite it remaining largely a solo project to my knowledge.

considering there also being apparently preludes to the other trash in the game and the Mediocre Melodies at the PAX demo, that makes sense. Edwin made the OG trash in the gang and Mediocre Melodies at some point, was bought out by Afton Robotics or Freddy's in general, so by the time of Fnaf 6 Henry has access to all of those designs to make shitty versions of them.
I actually like that a lot, doesn't affect anything besides adding context, and then it's background material to the proper Mimic stuff. Kills two birds with one stone.

God how old is William then by the early 2000's when FNAF 1 takes place around the time when he dies, to also have an teenage son and young son in the 80s. Possible it was a family business? Like William's parents owned Fredbear's Singing Show, they eventually moved to America, where William took the idea and make Fredbear's Family diner, which worked since the Singing Show was a thing since the 40's/50's so parents would know of it and take their kids there. Eventually Edwin tries to rip off Fredbear's, fails, and gets bought out.
I've heard some people say the singing show inspired William when he was young, but could go either way.

Probably? Considering Frights is canon in Tales it means you can probably look at those as well, though I'd probably say the version of Frights that's "canon" is what happens in the Into the Pit game and whatever comes next, since that makes a lot of specific changes to the lore of those books to fit more in line with the games. But the CYOA novels seem to all be canon so far, which would include the Into the Pit novel, and the Cassie novel, so... yeah.

That'd be interesting, I'm curious how big the update is considering they're not calling it a full DLC, it's at least going to be a level with a few variations like the rest of them in game have, and a few variations for if you take off the mask. So if they want to, they could use Tiger Rock in the VR portion, since that's his main domain in Tales, and then IRL with the mask off you see The Mimic in the mascot costume.

fnaf fans are always so funny when it comes to color like that, but also, I'd like you all to consider that for HW2's fnaf 6 level, they chose Pigpatch, who, much like Tiger Rock has the blue and green eyes as opposed to any of the more popular ones. It's fully possible that, simply, the blue (or orange, if they're making the Mimic's eye color in game orange) only came after The Mimic/ Mimic1 program possessed Tiger Rock, though also we'll have to see a bit more than just a plushie to confirm whether or not any of this is the case. Cause I can easily see the explanation of, "oh we don't know how it got the green/orange eye, it just kinda happened one day" in terms of the Tiger Rock animatronic.
Also Would like to say that there's a fundamental difference between a character named Henry, a character named Charlie, and a character named William appearing in a different context, versus The Mimic, Edwin, GGY being the exact same as Gregory in the games, Tiger Rock, etc, appearing and either being the exact same or having such minute differences that they're basically canon but like, replace orange with green, or there was never a rollercoaster in the pizzaplex or whatever. Murray Co. exists, Tiger Rock exists, The Mimic exists, Edwin's factory like exists in Sotm, etc. Like these aren't parallels like GoldenDuo with the Stitchwraith, these are literally THE events that happen, with the same characters in the same setting.

I’d still say it isn’t TalesGames. Obviously a lot of the stuff is the same, but Edwin making the MM and Trash and the Gang wasn’t a thing in Tales, and the whole orange eye thing is different, I think that’s enough to say that it’s separate from the books continuity-wise.

I think Scraptrap gets a bit too much hate, He's clearly not as good as Springtrap but I do think Scraptrap's suit is decent, I think the things steel wool should change is the blocky bumps on his suit and fix the preportions.

The main issue is the face and the blockiness, his forehead and bone ears and everything else just goes too far into looking like an irl cartoon character versus a corpse in a moldy rabbit costume, every other Springtrap design makes sure to give him a creepy face and proper withering (Burntrap is still cool AF even if he's non-canon now) if need be, even ITP bonnie gives him unsettling enough proportions to account for otherwise being a normal suit with fleshy insides. Scraptrap just kinda has nothing going for him compared to any of the other ones.

Fair, I think because of Scott not being the best at modeling humans, it does look like he has bone ears even though I'm sure Scraptrap's head is supposed to be covered in Mummified skin, But I still hope to see Scraptrap in the future. If so, I do hope they do fix Scraptrap's corpse to look more like Springtrap's corpse.

With what you said about Burntrap, I also thing Burntrap's design is badass, I see him as Ignited Springtrap but better.

I think they both have their appeal, but I tend to enjoy Starchy's art more. It has this soul to it that spurs my imagination. I could follow and enjoy slice of life nonsense of his depictions of Greg and Vanessa, or the Aftons forever. I know what the current storyline is, but for my own headcanon, I'm still sticking to glitchtrap = afton.

Burntrap isn't "canon" but would've happened if William's scheme to come back to life worked, much like the other alternate but ultimately non-canon endings to security breach.

Ruin and the mimic are real, but in my mind, glitchtrap is using the mimic as a tool and eventual host, hoping to release it to continue harvesting agony like his plan for burntrap.

HW2 kills off Glitchtrap/Afton, possibly for good, but now that leaves the mimic as an uncontrolled monster.

It's wrong, and contradicts current lore and probably itself. But I like it.

Mimic's mind can be essentially summed up as the emotions Edwin felt while hitting him.

He enjoys playing his characters, and to a degree seems to care more about Gregory than he does Vanessa if the two's treatment is anything to go by. I think the next era will likely be, after Tales's backstory is properly ported to the games, to see if Mimic can ever be turned back to the way he was with David, be that with new happy memories or some kind of Happiest Day that removes the Agony from him.

Speaking of, I was mulling over 6am section of security breach, specifically the way that Vanessa was trying to entice Gregory back to the stage and leaving the disc for him. Thinking on it a bit more, and ignoring the funny groomer Vanessa thing, to me it seems like a last ditch effort to reassert control over Gregory. If we follow the logic of the tapes in HW being brought together allowing Glitchtrap to manifest, what if the CD's being brought together, or at least listening to some of them, would remind Gregory of who he was previously? It makes me imagine another bad end to Security Breach, where Gregory returns to the grasp of the Mimic/Glitchtrap/Vanessa, completing that "family" idea or simply allowing the Mimic's (or Afton lol) plans to rapidly progress, given it has two pairs of helping hands now.

I watched the video and he says Steel Wool handled the launch horribly, and sure, but he also says its weird that Steel Wool are proud of SB despite the problems, and like... why is that an issue? They're crafted a very immersive 3d game world that's made so much community content and added a lot to the world. Of course Steel Wool are aware of the bugs, but they're not going to just call the entire game utter shit with zero redeeming qualities because there are issues, that'd be more of an internal thing.
He also does the "le multi-million dollar company" thing unironically, not understanding that Steel Wool doesn't just have the infinite money that comes from merch sales, Sony, and whatever else, and aren't that big of a company compared to the likes of a AAA studio that can afford to make constant bug fixes especially when they have other projects they need to work on, assets to create, etc. They cannot afford to overhaul the entire game without stagnating for years on something that's clearly a mechanical failure, the best thing to do is to work on improving in the next project and internally work on not making the same mistakes.
Like from pic related he says they added this pop up and says that instead of implementing "depth" to the system (which would basically be a complete overhaul) they add this pop up and said, 'Problem solved' which no, they didn't? I think he takes a lot of weird points from Steel Wool, Scott, and their actions that feel rooted from a perspective of already going in expecting the worst level of incompetence imaginable, when it's just... they probably think the player should have a reminder since cameras make the section easier?
I don't like SB and I played it to completion but this guy seems to REALLY hate it in a way that's extending so much Malice to Steel Wool.

Hype and buzz is dying down, fans wanted a Fortntie collab and were dissapointed, despite the cool DBD collab, and instead of teasing something at all.....you limited showings of your demo entirely to people who could both pay the entry feed and then another few grand on top of that + hotels + expenses. Realistically only rich non working people in the area or streamers could play it, and nobody getting in tehre was saying anything about it.

The original was not that good, and was only good because of it's competitors at the time, being basically pioneers of the genre despite stealing from infrogames, and there being nothing else like it at the time. Voice acting in vidya was basically unheard of, let alone a coherent story or characters you could tell apart.
The graphics, music, and controls were improved drastically with teh dualshock/directors cut, and all variations of that, and is most likely what you played as a teen years after it came out. Those versions had a more complete soundtrack, upgraded visuals, added areas, more enemies , aim assist added, fixed story bits, and more puzzles. This took several re released and you had to pay for each one, there were no patches or dlc back then.

REmake, as a result, was the most complete version of the original game and the best way to play outside of the DS remake for the classic version. I would much rather play launch SB over the longbox of RE1.

Sure, one thing I've learned in working with AI LLMs is just how your breadcrumbs or pointing a finger loosley can be radically taken in a different direction quickley, easily, and frequently. You could triple your staff, you could release holdover games for the sole purpose of giving the lead team more time on the main title. You basically control thr world for children's and all ages entertainment and this was the plan? I expect better. This wasn't a solo Scott project.

We haven’t seen the Mimic turn into a snake or a spider, and the description of the book Mimic doesn’t really line up with game Mimic, which could be explained away by saying that Mimic replaced parts on itself but that’s me just trying to explain away contradictions by writing for the writer, I still think we should wait for SoTM before coming to a definitive conclusion, if the Mimic’s backstory in it is identical to Tales then it’s probably safe to say that it’s canon.

Well, so far the course correction seems to bash the books and games together in hopes of squeezing out a new direction to go.
So we now are waiting for another prequel (that will probably mess up the original story) only to set up a new antagonist that so then we might have sequels 2026 onwards in hope of continuing the plot and answer all the questions of Ruin. Bravo steel wool

Update consists of the Tiger plush and a SotM teaser
Tiger Rock has green and blue eyes like in the books
Glitchtrap hands you Mimic's Tiger Rock plushie, confirming they are the same
You get the Tiger Rock plushie by typing 1979 into the SL keypad (which also implies 1983 is relevant to Charlie)
Teaser has two things; a factory that seems to be Secret of the Mimic's setting, and a van with the M.X.E.S. machine in it driving away. The SotM part shows up without the mask on, while putting the mask on shows you MXES being taken away (implying SotM is the past and the MXES machine being driven away is the sequel)

Scott could EASILY fill in many parts of the lore, specifically Afton-related stuff. Considering his writing skills, he can definitely more than easily write up 400 pages about the Afton family, although he doesn't because he's a greedy jew who knows many fans will leave after that sense of mystery is gone

Its unknown whether or not the receiver is Dave or Cassidy, the logbook implies it might be Cassidy. Happiest Day cant happen before the FNAF 6 fire, since its basically all the spirits going to rest.

The voice lines for Molten Freddy seem more human-ish compared to Funtime Freddy. Especially the line "One big happy family", the only weird part about that line is that it isnt spoken in a british accent, then again Baby also never speaks in a british accent for some reason.

Since Tales has been made canon with the new update, we know that Mimic was originally in Edwin's factory, then moved to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, and then a looong time later was shipped to the Pizzaplex. By the time of RUIN Mimic has only been in the Pizzaplex for maybe a few years
