Seems like the new CoD has something called...''engagement'' based matchmaking and possibly even skill based damage. Yeah, SF6 is not rigged like that, it works beautifully in a technical sense. The problem is that Dix was made from the ground up to be extremely volatile and unrewarding for classic SF fundamentals, so people in the west don't really enjoy playing it. Its literally the opposite problem of Jive, where people in the west WANTED to play the game but the netcode was fucking awful.

Theres no conspiracy, and it isnt SBMM, some games will give you worse teammates when it cant give you harder enemies, to me that is infinitely worse than just losing because you are the worse player.
Skill Based Matchmaking would have everyone in the match roughly equal in skill.
What I am talking about is games that enforce a 50/50 win rate by any means necessary, if you are an above average player they cant always get better enemies and will sometimes use bad teammates to achieve the same effect.

SF6 is the first mainline game in the series that isn't truly a SF at all. Yes, I know the games are known to change a lot from one game to the next, but even the most radical departure, SF3, is still WAY closer to the core SF formula than SF6. Been awhile since I posted but yeah this right here is imo a big issue with Chun and why I think she's bad: literally nothing she can do if the opponent just plays super defensive, never engages except to jumpscare mixup (plus on block), and walks back whole game.
When i get them into the corner, it doesn't matter because Chun's pressure is so weak there without oki or any of those forward moving normals or specials that are plus or safe that also perfectly frametraps when spamming.
Eventually sure I figure out lows would work better but it doesn't matter because she doesn't have any combos off crmk without drive rush even on counter hit.
This is against Lily by the way, one of the worst characters in the game, and her supposed defensive weaknesses are negated by parry and drive reversal so I can't even wail on here when I finally reach.
If this was against a better player or character it would be even worse because they would instantly know when to stop defending and attack.
Rewatching the replay, yeah sure I could have played better and taken advantage of more situations, but i honestly don't think it would have been enough, the reward is far too low and I would have to win too many interactions.
This was the first match and the set went something like 4-10, she never walked forward again after that first round.

I feel like all they fundamentally needed to change was make pressuring slightly less safe to encourage pressing on defense more and tone low forward hit confirm damage/oki back down. Something to speed up the game just a little and stop staggered medium pressure and shimmmies from continuing for 10 seconds and also make it a little safer to try to aggressively enter low forward range and apply pressure. SF6 kinda achieved the first but by making it so most characters cannot safely blockstring to outside of low forward range but then fucked everything else up beyond repair.

I don't want to make offense a much weaker position to be on, I mainly want to just shift around risk reward somehow to encourage more buttons from the defender so we see more counterhits and cool whiff punishes instead of taking the throw so much. Medium medium being an incredible way to hit confirm into high damage AND oki AND safely frametrap to a safe range was probably too much. I'm not sure exactly how you achieve this but it's fun to think about.

I think we're all underestimating how big a deal it is that Jamie restores gauge on drink.
For example, a drive rush into crMP into his rekka drink is basically breaking even with drive meter now
A medium kick xx EX palm into double drink recovers most of what he spent on the EX
An EX divekick into sweep drink recovers about half of what he spent
An EX DP into a drink recovers a good amount of what he spent for the reversal
He's going to be way, way more hyperactive in neutral after the change, and it affects every round of every game he'll ever play on this patch

A lot of the changes in the patch as a theme were about proactive play affecting your drive/super gauge through gain and your opponent's through drive damage more, without spending your own drive meter.

What this means is that on heavy fireball there's no gap for opponents to do a PPDR OS and perfect parry the hadoken into drive rush offence, or indeed drive impact Ryu through his fireball.
If they block the crMK, they're taking the drive damage from the heavy fireball as well.

Also just the knowledge that this is something Ryu can do will lead to Ryu being able to mindgame people with crMK on its own, crMK into heavy hashogeki to steal a turn, crMK into medium fireball once you've stolen turns with heavy hashogeki, etc.

You just have to do exposure therapy and get used to it
I hated ranked matches until I started reviewing each match to see where I got hit, if you haven't done it already turn on the steam gameplay recording thing, being able to just shift tab and replay the previous match is huge for casual analysis, or you can go into replay mode to check the frame advantage of situations if it's confusing, but I barely ever do that

EX palm into two drinks is fake, unless he hits EX palm at the tip. There's only a handful of characters that cannot punish this. Some characters need drive rush super to punish, like Chun. Lily technically has a punish but it is very hard to time correctly, so just assume she has no punish. Zangief just has no punish. Everyone should lab their punish on this because too many Jamie players try to get away with it. It is very easy to react to him going for the second drink, he can't end the animation early or anything like that.

The raw drink actually doesn't recover much drive. It's half a bar I think. It felt like less when I tested it. EX DP > drink is also like -8 or something.

And honestly, if someone's punish on a double drink is that they get a long range level 1 or something it's often worthwhile just going for it to get to level 2
Also EXDP might be -8 but he's spaced in such a way that it's basically unpunishable, again well worth it

I think it's an amazing change for Jamie overall because of how constant a difference it makes, and it's more interesting than removing DL0 or something heavy handed
In a way he's designed to be a whacky random gambler the way Jackie Chan fights in the drunken master movies, trying to sneak in drinks at any possible moment

well that sucks, i play in one of the least populated regions in the world and this rarely happens at master but my MR isn't very high. it's certainly preferable over less popular games like sf5 where i had to wait for matches, also fought the same players and quite often the matches were pretty laggy. that's ultimately why i dropped it despite the actual fighting being pretty good.

Recently I was observing the weird phenomenon of people who still obsess over Smash to a point they unironically watch top level Smash but cope saying its a kusoge, not a fighting game etc... I thought this kind of bitch behavior was exclusive to Riddles but it seems like a real pattern from crabbas who didnt make it in Smash to trash talk the game while still clearly not getting over it.
