Even the best SFIV players at their prime couldn't help but miss a lot of punishes, drop a lot of combos and allow a bunch of buttons to whiff unpunished. The execution was so difficult, and the hurtboxes/recovery frames so insufficient that pro matches looked scrubby. Weird how people never bring that up when reminiscing about the good old days.

The game SHOULD be so hard that even pros miss things. That way even amongst pros, the pros with better execution can differentiate themselves. As opposed to every high level match looking exactly identical.

spammable dash/backdash, jump/dash cancels, airdashes, blah blah
the juggle system is way more at home, too
sf's restrictive juggle limit shit vs 'everything works, but there's hitstun deterioration'

Why haven't Capcom improved the jukebox feature so that it works like KOFXV's or Tekken 8's (where you can set any piece of music to any part of the game)?

when doing an SPD, your command will eventually hit the up direction, right?
well, that 'up' input now puts your character into prejump state, which is then flagged as 'airborne'
then pressing the attack button will cancel that prejump into an SPD
this does NOT remove the airborne state, though
so you're left with SPD being immune to throws

and universally, i'm guessing people could intentially do tk versions of specials, and get throw immune versions of specials
eg, ryu waking up with 2369P to do a hadoken that magically beats a throw

The special doesn't get grab immunity. The couple of prejump frames that happen will dodge a meaty throw and then the special happens right after before you leave the ground.
However capcom hard credit so you jump cancel only on a specific frame they want, I think it's the third prejump frame. So you have 2 frames where you dodge a throw, but throws have 3 active frames so they can still get you most of the time on 99% of meaties. Jump canceling works better when you have longer prejump frames, like third strike super jump. They specifically made sure that in sf6, manon cannot dodge a throw with prejump frames into special while gief and Lily get to cancel it on frame 4. Everything in this game is hard codes to work how they want and they finally decided to just remove it.

If you guys put your unc pride away you would see that Modern is actually a lot of fun and has a competitive niche at checking the crazy in this game and being able to actually put up a fight in burnout which is a major plus.

Like the idea that you have to drop Classic to play Modern is just boomer babble. The Baki Collab came back this year and was the first collab of the game, so keep an eye out.

Yeah it literally doesn't change anything in neutral, the only difference is after you press a button. I just don't like where they are heading with this buff, they don't realize how difficult it is to play Classic Chun-Li in this game. Modern Chun-Li might be the way right now, now that she has access to all of her stance moves. Having one button level 2, hazanshu and tensho makes your neutral way more imposing, you can think ahead way more easily. There is literally no real downside to Modern Chun-Li, she might be a top tier with Modern controls.

but the actual intent was to give her a high skill ceiling conversion from counterhit/punish counter 2MK in neutral
you can now confirm ch/pc 2MK into stance MP for a knockdown anywhere which gives it more utility and reward on niche footsies situations where you cant convert to stance LK
