Veilguard is honestly pretty amazing.
Its like a string of constant let-downs and disappointments.
Whenever you think they introduced some interesting dilemma or character it ends in such lukewarm and underwhelming way that its hard imagine they achived this through sheer incompetence instead of a concentrated effort to kill the series.

I don't remember it clearly, but I *think* you're supposed to train/send your slave to a Circle if they start showing magical signs, it's implied in one of Dorian and Solas' banters. I'm pretty sure no mage can be a slave in Tevinter. I think there was a story about a slave thinking his (or her? I can't remember the character) master genuinely cared about them, only for him to send them away to a Circle as soon as they started showing magic.

I had a lot of fun with it, build around fire damage/flaming weapons and grab all the shield block perks, level 30 gets you the perk that lets you block every attack in the game and another on perfect parry you get flaming weapons + party rally. Heavy shield bashes can be used to knock enemies off ledges.

Champions of the Just was such a better quest than In Hushed Whispers and Ser Barris is such while a bro while Fiona is a constant fuckup. However the game really pushes you to side with the mages and I think the Red Templars are way more thematically fitting as the main antagonists than the Venatori. It's also sad that when you recruit the mages your two choices are welcoming them as allies and making them prisoners and there's no third choice in between the two. The options for the Templars were helping them rebuild as allies or going there's no time fix a corrupted order so disband and join the Inquisition.

At some point, I realized the sad reality that Superman is too deep for a lot of the writers with postmodern leanings, more specifically the kind that attempts to question and subvert traditional structures just for the sake of questioning. Their method of questioning only accepts the predetermined answer "tradition is wrong" and that limitation makes their subversion too shallow to critique even Superman. It was a bitter medicine to swallow, but it stopped me from being disappointed in their work.

Dragon Age: Origins was actually a pretty deep work. It built on tropes that were established and used thousands of times, but those tropes have depth to them. The arrangement of them added to the depth. It's more than the sum of its parts, and the sum of its parts is already deep.

It is my opinion that I'm speaking from a "what deserves to be remembered in canon" type of mindset. I just think how I would feel if I was a Warden and with all their lore and scared duty and seriousness and sacrifice that is what their order is supposedly all about, and I heard that the guy who ended the 5th blight just got a free pass for what is essentially no reason. It just kind of makes it all seem like utter bullshit. I don't like that from a story or worldbuilding or lore perspective. I do like the romance plotline around it. Yeah I've enjoyed them too. He's mature in describing the process and his retrospective thoughts on it. I wish he never left. What's funny though is that I feel like Weekes as a writer is stronger based on the masked empire compared to the Gaider novels. Gaider however is a big old nerd and sells the bigger picture much better and I feel that's something lost in dragon age now.

It was a project with a notedly high rate of staff turnover on all levels and in all capacities, due to team members either quitting or being rotated out to other projects. The project was ostensibly scrapped and resuscitated at least once. In DAO and DA2 no one spoke like that, while in Inquisition you had Sera, but hers wasn't really the millennial/modern twittern speech you find in Veilguard, it was more like her own vocabulary she had developed while growing up in the streets, so it made sense (and I think it's implied she didn't know how to sort her thoughts right when speaking, while she could do so when writing).

The only ones who speak in a normal manner are Davrin and Emmrich, while Lucanis continuously repeats "Mierda" like a bad ESL stereotype, Neve speaks like a character from a bad noir novel, and Bellara, Taash and Harding are the biggest culprits.

Solavellans basically kept part of the fandom alive for years, because theirs was the only ship in the series that had no resolution, no clear happy ending, while everyone else could marry or follow their LI. Plus it's objectively an interesting ship, so Bioware knew they couldn't fuck it up. Still can't believe neither Lavellan nor Solas die, I guess that was Bioware's final gift before deciding to shit on everything else.

They always wanted to give Solas and Lavellan a good ending, even during early development. It would have been a great thing to have 2-3 years after Trespasser... but after a whole decade of waiting? It was basically expected, even demanded. Bioware HAD TO include that happy ending, otherwise the game would have been dragged into the mud even more than now.

Those are funny easter eggs that don't really ruin the player's immersion. Gaider was referring to the main characters' way of talking - only Alistair got to say some stupid things now and then, but it never felt forced or unnatural and they were pretty careful with it. While Bellara, Harding, and Taash constantly talk like the weirdos you can meet on twitter or those cringy coworkers that dye their hair with pastel colors and don't know what a decent book is.

Now that I think of it, VG feels like a filler, an interlude between the stories. Nothing really matters, the ending is the same with different flavors. Rook doesn't matter, neither of the team does. We were Fairbanks' team basically.

Probably not a lot. Part of the idea of drawing these beatboards in a relatively simplistic fashion is to keep a good pace where new scenes can be drawn up and discarded on the fly, and also to make sure nobody gets overly attached to an idea before the team can weigh in on it.
