It's pretty clear Masada hasn't even read half the stuff he references, he just references it because he thinks references are cool. Acta est Fabula is a reference to Augustus Caesar and nobody has ever managed to explain exactly what that reference means other than Masada thought it was cool.

The ideals themselves are beautiful and he finds meaning in this pursuit and struggle for them. Nietzsche once claimed that the ends are less important than the means. UBW Shirou embraces his ideal and pursues it not because he thinks it is achievable (he admits that to Archer) but because the act of pursuit is in itself a worthy cause. UBW Shirou does what he does because he wants to do what he does.
Ironically, Shirou Emiya is tons more Nietzschean than Ren Fuji ever was in spite of Dies Irae's far greater focus on Nietzschean philosophy.

Finished Kei's route, so I've reread all the Extra routes now. When I read her route the first time some years ago I didn't like it and didn't really like her either, but I liked it this time. Maybe I just didn't like the subject matter, but on a reread I was able to chill out some and think about it better. Meiya gets pushed pretty hard in this route, and it makes a point that it's kind of like an inverse of the situation she's going through regarding Sumika, which made it more interesting. On another note I remembered liking Miki's route a lot when I first read Extra but this time I had to kind of force my way through parts of it. Her route is kind of like a novelty since it's less serious than the others, so I think once you've already read it and that novelty factor is gone, there's not that much left to it. I also read the all-ages version when I read it the first time (I don't care for H-scenes), but I patched it on this read. The best H-scene was Meiya by far. Sumika's was garbage with the laziest CG usage imaginable. Still need to read Marimo's. Anyway, I'm not sure whether I actually want to keep going through Unlimited and Alternative, I kind of want to but I also kind of don't. Maybe I'll start Unlimited and see how I feel about it. Chizuru is best girl by the way.

The car joke at the beginning I think everyone gets but there's a lot more than that, even in minor lines that are callbacks to various things in Kiminozo that you'd miss. Of course the association only gets stronger once you get to Alternative since it's not just Akane but also Mitsuki and Haruka who show up, I also remember you find out about what happened to Takayuki in the Alternative timeline (there are also cameos from some of the other heroines). Because of Muv-Luv's plot it also makes sure to obfuscate which route timeline from Kiminozo Extra is actually taking place in (it specifies that it's not Haruka's or Akane's). I can safely say that Kiminozo is a better VN than Extra, but rereading Extra with full context was worthwhile too. Also caught a number of minor references to Alternative that I never noticed before, e.g. pic related
referring to Tsukuyomi killing Sagiri. The references to the Alternative (which was already planned) in Kiminozo are spare but there were one or two.

Amakano 2 is as close to a perfect romance game as I’ve found – the heroines are wonderful, the artwork is gorgeous, the setting is cozy, the character interactions are enjoyable and most importantly the pacing of the romance is nice and slow, with some lovely confession scenes. I really feel that this game (and the Amakano series in general) does a great job of showing the closeness between the heroine and protagonist.
