Only one life per map is an amazing choice

Jonathan explained in his interview with DM and Ghazzy that you can indeed die only once in a map or it lost. However you still have 6 portals to be able to make 6 trip to your stash.

I believe a game balanced around not being able to die once is gonna feel SO MUCH better, more interesting and more satisfying than a game where you can pretty much die and not much happens in regular maps <3 What do you all think?

Jonathan Rogers transparency suggests a quiet yet humble confidence in GGG and himself. These Developers are serious gamers and by association, they treat us seriously too. It's like a kid being treated like an Adult - the kid will appreciate it. I didn't think twice in dropping $480:00USD to Support them (Besides, as an Aussie, we consider New Zealanders our lovable weirder cousins)!
On the flip-side, Blizzards tawdry response on 'X' was unprofessional and prissy. They'll lose a lot of players over that, mark my words. I've seen it many times before. Anyway - onward and upward for POE 2.0. I really appreciated this interview because well - it's old school - like me

Brothers and sisters, I'm abandoning diablo 4 and am excited foe POE2

I've played every diablo(yes, including immortal) and have completed every possible challenge on d4 and managed to get to paragon 300 in 220 hours (including campaign grinding) and I'm tired.

I'm tired of slogging hard for 6 seasons and have nothing to show for it, all my hard earned loot, reduced to functionally useless legacy items.
I'm tired of not being able to revisit old builds and taking then for a spin on Eternal.
I'm tired of empty promises and 0 delivery.

So I'm excited for POE2. I've never played POE1 and throughout the years, I've never heard a bad word about poe.

I look forward to seeing you in game.

the way i see this playing out is similar to old poe, you have some people playing low-mid tier mf builds pretty fast, most people playing traditional builds clearing high tier at a reasonable pace, and then heavily invested op blaster builds the 1% play.

I'm going to spoil the best build for league start because I know you guys don't have enough brain cells to figure it out before a content creator spoonfeeds you the whole build. It's Stormweaver. Obviously it's Stormweaver, because you get Shaper of Storms.

Shaper of Storms allows you to activate cast on shock while dealing non-lightning damage. Then because your real damage type is either fire or ice, you can activate cast on ignite or cast on freeze. You cast one spell repeatedly (I heard you guys like one button builds) and that one spell activates two trigger gems every time it deals an elemental ailment. Congratulations, you are now playing PoE2's version of Manaforged Arrows. Have fun before it gets nerfed.

I have a feeling that the last ascendancy node might be something to help with restoring reserved darkness, because on its own a 500-600 HP buffer every 10 seconds doesn't sound that amazing endgame. I think it'll be really nice early game though, especially since you'll have less spirit and you get a bulk of the darkness up front.

Complexity has almost never been a true filter for players. Random grand strategy games are more popular than Path of Exile. The real filter for Path of Exile is that it played like shit. The actual gameplay was ass and it looked worse than a decade old game. sockets removed from gear so less scarcity early game freeing people up to change their gear around as they level.
basic crafting currency is more common so people will use the shit they find instead of waiting for a base with the right sockets/colors.
early tree is more useful and less threatening.
gems are explained more clearly in the UI.
and the enemy difficult seems to scale better than poe 1 where the first few zones push your shit in.
i expect new players to have a much smoother start in poe 2.

A casual sees that poe1 is fast and poe2 is slow. They have no idea about APM at a glance, but if they research it they will know that in poe1 you have your main skill, travel skill, and at least one or two buff/debuff utility skills that are used situationally. I don't think they want you spamming that shit, they've obviously made the game movement limited to curb power (total damage = access to mobs * damage). Even if you have infinity damage you'll still need to walk around it seems, unlike poe 1

They could add something to build around it, like you gain frenzy charges and they convert or something but idk i don't think they'll let you spam it

the 285% more aspd line probably doesn't work with no charges either, if so it'll be complete poop dogshit skill with no charges to spend, like weakest numbers in the game, and you can't gain any charges while flicking, you'll have to stutter flick even if you have some automated setup going on that casts some shit that grants you charges, unless there's uniques that are made for flicking that override some of this skill's functionality.
so the most likely scenario is flicker will be extremely weak and/or extremely weird to setup and pilot. maybe they'll give gladiator (ex-duelist) some sort of flicker as well that'll be more old-school, seeing as most flickers usually used slayers, but this flicker is not the old flicker due to hardbaked inability to self-sustain charges and being ridiculously weak with none.

it was alright for clear, it's only shit for bosses on low investment. it was fairly easy to setup, raider could even do it with no uniques and sustain charges just with multistrike and all the frenzy on hit sources, everyone else had two shitty swords and selfbleed setups for cheap and farruls for when you got some money.
a lot of people like the fantasy of being this infinitely fast swordmaster or whatever. yeah it never really was meta-strong but it had a dedicated playerbase which was ready to deal with it subpar performance at low investment. new flicker is the whole other thing entirely, it's made to be used once in a while instead of being your main skill, it seems to also be much more powerful with charges (compared to other melee skills of poe2, average ead% seems to be much lower in this game) so I'm doubting that there's a unique that just removes it's downsides, it'll be ridiculously op if so.

Most of the other tabs are league mechanic specific so they can be a nice bonus if theres a specific league mechanic that you end up enjoying

There are a couple general purpose tabs like divination card tab but personally I dont think its worth it and I just throw the div cards in a normal tab.
And theres a quad tab which can be very handy for league mechanics that end up eating a lot of stash space. its handy to have around as weve had a couple of leagues that just raped stash space.

I like how jewel sockets are placed as crossways now.
Was also thinking about the Fire Wall skill they showed off. When they used a lightning skill through it, it changes the animation to also have fire mixed in. Wouldn't it be cool if they managed to make converted damage display the element you converted to? Like I dunno, converting a physical slam to ice, makes it look like Ice Crash. I know it's 100% not going to happen but it would be so fucking cool.

every single attack skill so far is locked behind a weapon yes, maybe save for those forced unarmed monk attacks. dunno what you see there on poedb, the game interface literally has all attack gems grouped by weapon type, and it's a huge design decision they've talked about extensively, they want every weapon to have a distinctive playstyle unlike poe1 where weapons are mostly stat sticks and weapon types are differentiated solely by base values, implicits and some low-impact passive tree nodes, and even weapon locked gems give you a huge selection of weapon types to work with.
you should pay more attention to official statements and videos and less to a half-assed wiki that so far only combines bits and pieces of revealed info with zero context.

I think ranger will be alright with xbows too, maybe not from the get go but fairly early still, her start is right next door, one of the ascendancy deals with projectiles, the other with poisons, and I suspect they both will want to dip in each other's tree if they want to use either of the ranged weapons.

"Static" just means flat difficulty with no random variance, were everyone can experience the exact same fight.
In PoE 1 there are some bosses with "Variant Difficulty" due to map modifiers being applied to them, so the fights can randomly be "Easy" or "Hard" with no way to really measure if you're good or bad for beating them.

Having a "Static" boss means it can be used as a benchamark for your build/skill. The difficulty is set and fixed, you can either beat it or you cant.

This is an organic setup from poe 1 that doesn't have any cast-on gems. Notice how I didn't include a single powerup skill like Sigil/Berserk, or a guard skill, or a reservation skill.

In POE2 we're going to have a fuckton more cast-on gems that will let you automate more skills.

I played it so I know. It's not an abnormal amount of buttons, people play WoW with way more.

Anyway, I told you, we'll have multiple types of "cast on" and more seamless weapon swap. There will be uses for those extra links.
Good players will gladly piano 12 skills in sequence if it means more power.
Obviously I can't predict what the game will be like, maybe a 1 button build will just dominate a 12 button build, but I see the potential.
