I'm specced into grey warden and it's a blast being able to be in the thick of it whilst weaving shield blasts/thrown shield chains and igniting the fuck out of everything on perfect parries.

She was introduced in the Calling where she had Maric's child - they don't call the kid Alistair but the implication was there. Don't think it was for sure confirmed until Inquisition.
I always thought it complicated up what should've been a simple story. Plus it kind of felt like they wanted Maric to seem more like a good guy who wouldn't cheat on his wife with a servant.

Those were lended to you to stop the Breach and Corypheus, not given. Same with the soldiers who were only lended if not volunteers. Your job is done and you've got an army in their borders, no shit the nations either want you dissolved or under oversight, and the fact that the Inquisition fucked up utterly with the Qunari and Solas' elven spies was the last straw.
