If I use the boost on an Eternal Realm character, will the part about it auto finding the Altars of Lilith carry over to Seasonal Realm characters? I really don't wanna track all these things down on a fresh Seasonal if I don't need to.

Looked around but can't find any info on this. My understanding with The Pit is that the higher the level of your Glyph, the higher the Pit level is required to get a chance of an upgrade to the glyph.

The only piece of info I have found is that a Pit level 10 above that of the Glyph will guarantee a Glyph upgrade. So anything beneath 10 levels will provide diminishing returns?

I haven't played D4 much, but this sound similar to D3 Greater Rifts and upgrading gems. But for that there were calculators online telling you which level rift you needed to run to guarantee an upgrade.

Is it as simple as keep it 10 levels above your Glyph (for as long as possible anyway) or is there more to it?

If the Pit level vastly overlevels your glyph, it will add multiple levels per chance. I don't know the exact numbers but say you have a level one glyph and do a 60 Pit, each upgrade chance will add 3 levels, so it does go pretty fast once you're able to do high Pits.

I got my very fun screen-blasting ice shards sorc to pit 61 and can't really go any further without mythics or dealing with the bullshit that is nu-tal rashas ring. I think I'm done for this season, I'd like to go farther than WT3 but this build can't really do it and I'm not respeccing to something else without an armory system. Hopefully next season with the armory it'll be easy enough to swap builds so I can basically play both, use the stronger build to get some more glyph levels and have a switch between bossing/speed clearing setup on the fly. Also Lilith is still the worst designed boss fight in any videogame, kind of amazed it still exists, thought they would've scrapped it by now.

Ball lit sorc looks neat for S7, the whole cast-while-moving should make it very comfy for the orbit variant, I just hope the AoE isn't like a character length away, needs to function like PoE's RF build where it hits most of the screen and you just run through everything.

I just started playing the other day so I don't really know what I'm doing. Started as lightning sorc, switched to hard as soon as I could, I'm very weak and have to kite even common enemies and everything takes forever to kill but I'm having fun. Fought a couple bosses in random dungeons, very hard and died a few times on each but I eventually beat them after having to kite them around the entire dungeon for like 40 minutes. I know it's dumb but I like to play like this.

But then I hit a wall doing the legacy of the magi quest. I couldn't beat the boss at the end (I know the boss isn't part of the quest, I just wanted to beat him). I took way too much damage and couldn't dodge all the random projectiles, and couldn't kite him like I did the other bosses, so I just ran out of potions and died on every attempt, couldn't even get him to half health after many attempts over like 30 minutes.

I gave up and warped out to turn the difficulty down, but it said the dungeon would reset so I decided to just change my build and try again. I was like level 20 and using a level 16 legendary dagger. I switched to a level 18 legendary staff, and respecced from chain lightning into frost orb. Went back to the boss and melted him in literally 10 seconds. I just shot frost orbs at him while facetanking all the projecticles. I had to double check to make sure I didn't turn down the difficulty somehow, but it was still on hard. Did the change from a dagger+off-hand to a staff really matter that much (keep in mind they were close in item level), or is lightning just that weak compared to frost?

if by lightning you mean charged bolts, yeah, that skill fucking blows donkey balls. frozen orb is vastly superior even with identical gear, and the ilvl of the items doesn't matter that much when they're close in level. the stuff you put on might've had more useful stats than whatever you took off.

I was using chain lightning. The stats on both weapons were comparable, it's not like the staff I switched to had +100000 frost damage or anything like that, but it definitely felt like it. I already salvaged the dagger so unfortunately I can't post anything to compare. But like when I switched to frost orb it's like I switched on easy mode, like it doesn't even compare to how I had to play before by kiting everything. Now I just nuke, and my equipment is mostly the same. I did get two pieces of gear that each gives a 35% chance to cast chain lightning 5 times or some shit from a loot box, so once I'm high enough level to equip it maybe I'll respec again and see how that goes.

Should I be doing every side quest and dungeon as I encounter them, or is it better to rush the main quests? I'm already level 20-something and just now did the first main quest that takes place outside of the city. I know I need to up renown, but I also figured that I'll likely be needing to farm equipment anyways once I hit max level, so I might wanna save strongholds and dungeons (unless they have an aspect I want/need) until then.

I lost a second Hardcore character, this one with a 2GA Tyrael’s Might, to Uber Lilith and uninstalled. It’s the only thing that can kill me and I don’t feel like scumming too many YouTube videos to memorize the mechanics.

Yeah always at your level now, you increase difficulty at the statue things. There are 4 difficulties you can pick starting from level 1 and 4 more Torment difficulties that you unlock by completing specific Pit levels

Diablo is the king for a reason. If anything, Blizzard will do what they do best and steal any good ideas PoE2 has. I predict PoE2 is going to have its own problems, especially with trying to appeal to casuals over the autists and ending up with both sides unhappy.

Leveling on normal is the main strat.
Flamethrower is the much easier leveling build and genuinely a lot of fun but I don't think it's a t4 end-game build. Sorcerer got hurt pretty hard with the fractured winterglass rework and the limit on lightning spears that can be active. The sorcerer class is fun but limited.

Frozen orb is a good build. You will have mana issues early on. "Lucky hit chance to restore primary resource" on a focus is your friend and you should rock it. It's more important to have that than a little bit of damage because nothing is worse than standing in front of a boss and not casting. Eventually you will be able to drop that and you will get enough mana back fro hitting mobs to be mostly fine.

Frozen orb vs say... chain lightning is a pretty hard call. Both builds feel mostly identical. Chain lightning probably better mobbing but single target damage is rougher compared to frozen orb. I mostly ran chain lightning and did alright up to about pit 70. Could I have upgraded my gear? Probably. But I did about 50 hours of chain lightning and I was ready to change lol. Both builds are good for sorcerer. I was able to get a buddy to run me through some pits and that also may just be a strat for sorcerer.

The major decision you would want to make is whether you want to scale either ice or lightning damage (as dictated by your build) or whether you want to run splintering on a slot to scale the lightning spear. All you are really doing is trying to get out lightning spears and keep ice blades up. Lightning spears are still most of your damage on either frozen orb or lightning, and ice blades keep your enemies vulnerable. There aren't that many sorcerer builds once you consider the objective of your rotations (lightning spears everywhere).

Not sure how you value your games, but it's currently 40% of on Steam.

If you like the look of the gameplay there's plenty you'll be getting for that price. You won't need to worry about getting the expansion unless you really want the new class, or find you've done all the content in the base game, which is a lot at this point.

Remember there's a campaign, multiple classes, hundreds of different builds, end game challenges.

I'm not trying to sell you on it. You're the only one who knows what you're money's worth. But, you know, there's a lot of game already there, you don't need to feel like you need to keep spending more. Forget about the overpriced cosmetics and season passes. I never buy any of that stuff.

I want to play POE 2. It looks good. Diablo 4 got me interested in the genre. But I am still genuinely enjoying Diablo 4 and I have no reason to leave it. I'm not at that level where Diablo 4 is too casual for me. I don't mean that Diablo 4 is hard. I just mean that there are real levels of build/item discipline I haven't explored. I reset my items a few times but I don't grind out the min-max. There are a bunch of builds I want to try that I haven't really yet tried. I have a lot more Diablo 4 to play before I jump over to POE 2.

I think one of the most important things when you're new, or even if you're playing a class for the first time, is experimentation. And that's a lot easier to do when the content isn't as punishing. The best way to play is to find a style that you enjoy, unless of course you're only interested in chasing the meta and copying guides.

Try out all the skills, don't be afraid to respec, and by the time you're level 60 you'll have a good idea of the kind of build you want to use.

The problem with not getting the expansion is that Blizzard has said future content will rely on having the expansion. My guess is they'll do what they do with WoW expansions where when you buy the most current one, you get access to everything before it, but that is a year away so you could miss out in the three or four seasons between now and then.

At that point, in my experience, getting enough damage to smash T3/survive in T4/push Pit levels, you really need a good build that can actually do it.
I'm sure it's still possible to push a mid build but you have to grind up paragon and glyph levels and grind out perfect masterworking crits, slowly getting gear upgrades or getting BIS mythics

Maxroll says the blue magic Glacial Diadem of the Magus is the best helm for blizzard sorceress, so I've been gambling cornets/circlets to find one. ONly thing is that all of these are coming in a 1-2 affixes but the one on maxroll has like 6 + 2 sockets. Not that anon, but d4 is better than victor vran and the later titan quest DLCs, worse in endgame than path of exile but far more accessible, more systems than d2 and d3 yet somehow shallower than d2's, visually miles ahead of all of them but also doesn't have a unique esthetic.
D4 will be a disappointment if you're expecting a sequel to d2 but exciting if you want a sequel to d3.
Just like with d3 it's pretty clear blizzard is going for the casual console market over the hardcore diablo clone fanbase.

I am also not making story a pro or con because there are certainly characters like Mephisto who are absolutely carrying the dialogue narrative, but then you have certain characters that get shitcanned and become a wasted opportunity. A lot of long time players have wrist and hand injuries from the genre. Click to move and loot can be physically painful for them. Wsad movement is an accessibility feature to let them play with reduced or zero pain again.
I think Path of Exile unironically caused a lot of damage to the fanbase. Their developers acknowledged it themselves a few years back.

Apparently they tried it for d2r, too, but they had to intentionally cut back on the sexy because of their multiple lawsuits for their wide scale sexual abuse. One interview mentioned something like the artist was pulled aside by their exec and told to make the amazoness and assassin look less like a prostitute and to make them significantly less attractive.

You’re a simple nobody from a nowhere town somewhere in Sanctuary. You probably farm mud for a living, but today you’ve been kidnapped by cultists and tied to a wooden stake deep within the bowels of a literal Hellhole. Why your village was built within sight of a direct portal into the netherworld is anyone’s guess, but such is life.
As you’re waiting helplessly for the cultists to turn you into a snake or something, a nine-foot-tall wolf man suddenly bursts through the door, streaks across the room too fast for you to follow, and punches a man so hard that lightning bursts out of his body and the men standing next to him explode from the impact. The carnage is indescribable, but you are totally unscathed.
When the dust has settled, the wolf man carefully picks through the deceased cultists’ scattered money and belongings. His pet leopard cub helps. Then, he opens the treasure chest in the corner and scoops up its contents, which burst out of it like a geyser. Somehow, he stows all of these materials on his person, despite being a naked, hairy, bipedal wolf.
HIs first order of business concluded, the wolf man then proceeds to unfasten the bonds of a skeleton shackled to the stake next to yours. You hear a faint sigh and briefly glimpse a wisp of green smoke rising from the desiccated remains. It’s entirely possible you’re hallucinating this whole scene. Finally, the wolf man sees fit to untie you. Putting aside any judgement of your lupine savior’s priorities, you utter something appropriately grateful, like “You saved my life!” and toss him the healing potion you’ve apparently been holding onto this whole time. He ignores it.

Freed at last, you amble your way, unescorted, toward what you assume is the exit of the still monster-infested catacomb. There will undoubtedly be a pack of demonic goat people or something equally murderous waiting just outside, but for the moment you are, against all evidence to the contrary, completely safe.

I always got the sense that because the remake was 20ish years later, the gimmick was to reimagine all the heroes as if they were aged up. Amazon is definitely a trannified freak though and disgusting. Hope that female SB is a sign of that trend reversing

Tried to get into playing Torchlight again. Genuinely hate how those games set difficulty out as a player choice. Because you can pick Hard, get bored, and then restart on Very Hard. But the games themselves have this progression where the internal difficulty goes from "packs of slow, basic attackers with the odd fast enemy" to "10 enemies teleport behind you and dash at your character from every direction while their support summons a small army of fast linear rapid melee attackers every 15 seconds".

I've played this(d4) less than a week now but for what I see the gameplay is pretty much the same as d3. I remember when d3:ros came out the developers were trying to overhaul bunch of things but said the gameplay was one of the things was good and didn't need to change. For d4 they kept the gameplay same, but added bunch of things to make the game more long time serviceable with things like seasonal passes and cosmetics.

Did everyone forget how D4 launched? They went for the whole "reactive and slower with more methodical" gameplay when doing content, but boomers and redditors cried so hard for D3 ADHD sonic boom fast gameplay the devs eventually caved in. I love finding fun items while leveling and experiencing the campaign for the first time. Just beat Brol and got a Wound Drinker, which works really well for me, and a cool legendary ring that makes lightning feathers spawn whenever I use a mobility skill or evade. Now I'm running around and clawing the shit out of things and shitting out feathers like crazy.

They just need to stop making a game for video game websites and for amazon and google and start making a game for gamers and for themselves.

They have the material and intellectual (human) resources to innovate and make a large-scale game but they're content to make a dad-style game where the endgame consists of killing mobs and then a boss. Lost another one lads. Fucked up my rotation on Andariel and she brapped straight at my head and blew it off.

In reality I did fuck up not attacking her after she reappears the 1st time, as within that phase transition she has a 0.5 second window she can be killed.
The fucked up thing is that it wasn't the flame spout that got me, it was the cross arena blast.
The AoE tell was rotating and disappeared on me, and next thing I know I get blasted as it goes off right on top of me.

Never seen it do that shit.

I did the math and if i spend 10 bucks to get the battle pass, then I get 700 platinum from the battle pass. However, there is nothing on the store that you can buy with just 700 platinum.
If you buy the 500 platinum pack for 4.99, then now you have 1200 platinum. With 1200 platinum, you can buy a cosmetic.
So pretty much, the battle pass is only 3 dollars if you intend on buying platinum to purchase additional things. It's like one of those things where if you buy one thing, then you get another at a discount

I finally happened to be in the area where one was about to start, so I did it. Got a handful of manuals and a truckload of legendary items, including one with an effect that makes it so I drop a ton of explody orbs when I overpower a skill. On the way back to where I was, I found a Treasure Goblin that dropped a Unique quarterstaff that just lets me spam my Core skills. I feel busted as fuck right now and it's glorious.

Yes, they removed Stygian Stones which used more materials, but summoned stronger versions of the bosses that dropped about 5x the loot
They also removed Mindcages since those increased monster levels in Helltide.

Honestly they should bring those back. Let players modify their difficulty for rewards even more than just Torment difficulty.
Mindcages could even be used to make NMD more exciting by using them on Sigils and adding random drop boosting modifiers in exchange for higher difficulty NMDs
Sadly the casul dads with 300 wives 4 children 90 jobs and 1 attoseconds a year to play would feel alienated by this

I unlocked a bunch of shit and was figuring I should try and get all my gear replaced by level 60 versions at least since I have a number of items in the mid 50s. I've got a feeling that replacing my unique quarterstaff is gonna take a while and I really do not want to give it up unless I have to, so I will focus on my other slots first. Spamming Core skills is just way too good at the moment.

That'd be fantastic. I'm a filthy console peasant, hopefully trade can be done cross platform. I've been running around and trying everything out to see which activities I like. Realmwalkers seem like they'll facilitate some easier grinding with the Opal drops but I hate how long it takes for them to get to the part where you can actually kill them.

Helltides are kinda meh, unless they are in an area where I'm doing other shit like Whispers. Might be useful for target farming gear slots, I suppose. I like Whispers, those are making getting renown in areas a lot less boring. Haven't done any NMD yet and I haven't touched the Pit. I'm not sure if I'll be up to snuff to handle T1 for a little bit.

Good to know. I've been using the various Opals pretty much all the time to grind up rep, so now I know I'll need to do some more realmwalker stuff to keep a decent supply.

Managed to get through T20 in the Pit, so I'm running around in Torment 1 and just doing random shit. Also, for the Paragon Board, should I be fast tracking towards useful Legendary nodes and Glyph slots and then going back to pick up nodes within the radius of my Glyphs?

For the most part you want to activate the glyphs ASAP, it's a massive source of player power. Legendary nodes vary based on your build, but you typically want to move through and get your five boards and focus glyphs and rare nodes (probably around paragon 180-200 by this point), then go back and fill in the rest. You also want to level the glyphs to legendary for the radius increase as soon as you're able to.

Yeah, I figured that was how they were meant to go together. The barrier alone has upped my survivability by quite a bit, and as soon as I get another level I'll have a legendary node that'll leverage the barrier into damage.

What's fucking hilarious is that I ran a handful of pits to level my Glyphs while using some Opals, and hit rank 5 rep. The two class specific Uniques that the box dropped happened to be the ring and rod you gave me. They didn't roll quite as well, though. I'll probably pass them along to someone else if I see anyone here needing them.

Looks like I need to get my Resource Regen up a bit, I'm sitting at like 90% during QV spam, just a bit short of what I need for crazy damage. I should also redo my skill tree now, might get some more mileage out of a few different passives, mainly my key one.

The three affixes below the one at the top are rolled randomly when the item drops. You can alter those (but only one person item) at the Occultist using the enchant option. The starburst by it denotes it as a Greater Affix, which I believe always roll at the maximum amount for the affix. Enchanting will never turn a regular affix into a Greater, and I've never enchanted a Greater so I don't know if those can be changed at the Occultist or if they are set in stone.

How's Sorc feel at the endgame? They were my favorite class in D2, but I wasn't really feeling it when I rolled up my current character.

I was feeling pretty good with Sorc up until i got to T4 and now i just dont do any damage to anything. i haven't really played a Sorc in any other ARPG game before, but i'm enjoying it, i like a lot of the skills. i started out with wanting to do a Chain Lightning build because i thought it would look cool with lightning flying everywhere like a sith lord or some shit, but i eventually switched to fireball because i got some relatively good fireball items for my character. i haven't really tried any of the other classes in the game, i briefly tried Druid and got it to 60, but then i went straight back to Sorc because i just wanted to go back to being a turret that shoots big fireballs, lol.
i still feel kinda new to the game, but idk, i'm paragon 239 Sorc and i literally just cant kill anything on T4, i literally can't do any content solo on T4. so idk if Sorc is shit or you have to get to a way higher paragon level to actually do stuff in T4

You doing the Staff of Endless Rage/Glove of the Illuminator giga fireball build? If so, I just watched a few videos of it in action and it didn't look like it had any issues with damage. Might just be a case of needing better rolls on affixes and aspects, as well as upping your glyph levels.

You mentioned missing the boots and it does look like Rakanoth's adds a solid chunk of damage and CDR from what I can see of the build on Maxroll. Maybe you should target farm those and see how it changes things.
