It will actually be easier to remake all 3 previous games in the Baldurs Gate III engine than to mod Veilguard into a passable game, since they actually released the dev tools for BGIII

I made DA:I builds that felt more fast paced than this plus more fun. And as a warrior you could shield charge into enemy groups and shieldbash them off cliffs everywhere. Most importantly the combat in DA:I was lore friendly and didn't turn warriors into master mages that can tear the floor apart and summon shit from the sky.
I mean I would prever DA:O style combat over both but that was never going to return anyway because DA is no longer made for CRPG players

In a sense yes. There's nothing wrong with including stuff for a female audience but the series as it went on seemed to primarily target that audience because it was loud and vocal on the internet and to score diversity points. I feel DA2 is an example of this where Fenris and Anders feel like the focus of their identity was being love interests while Alister and Zevran in Origins felt like they were more than just that.

Sovl... They could've easily done this in Veilguard. Have your choices matter eg a King Alistair leading Feralden forces, Celene leading Orlais etc towards a final battle. Cameos left, right and center which is what dragon age fans have wanted for the last 10+ years. Instead we got whatever we had.

I'm more inclined to see that as 50/50 with Bioware trying to expand into a new market. EA probably bare some of the blame but it was a huge industry back then and most of the old school of Bioware had already left by that point so there was no real common sense brake on them

From what I remember hearing DA2 was already close to breaking their aging engine so they needed to switch. Shame it had to be Frostbyte where they had to fight against it in order to do the most basic shit. They apparently didn't have the ability to save or load games until well into the Beta state. Can you imagine EA wanting to launch after several delays and Bioware responding that they can't because the game still doesn't have the ability to save.

Um well I don't know if I can articulate it well but something about the whole Mythal aspect doesn't sit right with me and I keep thinking about the retcon. It's like they needed to make sure she NEVER supported Solas even once because it's simpler or something. And I know it was already set up that she is the reason Solas has trust issues but for how much of an actual shit person she is shown to be in this game I just have a hard time reconciling the amount of praise Solas had for her. And like, he is self aware about how that relationship affected him in some ways but not the fact that all it would take is a word from her to get him to end his crusade? They took his motivation which was based on principle and duty and supported by others because they believed it to be just and correct and kind of now transformed it into just like, a crime of passion or something? Because he has trauma from being in a toxic abusive relationship? Because he's actually bound by servitude? That doesn't change the fsxt that there are just and logical reasons to take down the Veil. They took everything else out of this game. It just makes me queasy. It's like, I feel like this is not the way the story was supposed to be. For the story they told it makes logical sense but just isn't right because of everything else they left out and misled the player about because they didn't want to acknowledge or deal with any complex themes or moral questions in this game and I think Solas suffered for it. If that makes any sense.

The game took out a plot and complexity multiple games old to make the Veil coming down this simple black and white affair supported only by one dude, who is actually mainly doing this because he's fucked up by someone he loves and not because his people, spirits and even the world, in a general sense, would benefit from it in any way. They decided to make it a simple matter that nobody would agree there was an understandable element to unless Solas lied to them.

People who hate Solas may say that was always the case but that's not what the games set up before the Dread Wolf even had Solas' particular shape. I will never be convinced that Mythal didn't want the Veil down originally. In fact, she suggested it was an inevitability for the modern people of Thedas to bravely face when the time came. You can still see the bones of a different game. Rook was clearly meant to have more parallels to Solas and the choices he had to make. Instead the one thing Rook has personal consequences for "fucking up" makes little sense as a blame Rook situation so it's easily brushed off. Beyond a companion being so salty at you that you don't get to complete their boring, no teeth quests.

Inquisition still feels like dragon age, it just was unpopular because it took it away further from the core story of Orgins with dark spawn. Veilguard has the most minimal dragon age feel. It’s the Disney sequels of Star Wars where its dragon age on the surface level, but underneath it’s missing the grit, the political conflict, the complex characters etc. Inquisition however has these.

Reboot it completely and only DA:O will stay mostly the same except that distinct faction armors like Crows and Wardens will exist from the start (Crows will look less gay)

DA2 will be named DA: Exodus and will get the time it needs so you don't only explore the same cave 500 times

DA:I will change a lot because you will be able to not be nice and bring the good word of the Inquisition to parts of Thedas by force, the originally intended Stronghold capturing and defending will be in, tons more agents to aquire, maps will actually have quests and Morrigan's cup size will increase a bit. HoF will appear in Here Lies the Abyss if you ask them to come, otherwise it's someone else. The Fake-Calling plot point will be scratched

Veilguard will be wiped from canon and replaced with much of the originally intended version with some more fanservice because it's the last game. The Fake-Calling plot will be used here instead by the Evanuris but the cure for the Calling has been found (Potentially by HoF depending on your state) and is used to counter this, enabling the Wardens to fight them. Total utter Warden victory over the Blight, you fght the Evanuris while the Wardens fight the blighted dragons.

Caring about HoF in current day is actually the most homosexual take you can have. If HoF was actually a hero he would have fucking died killing the Archdemon like he was supposed to and like all the other blight-enders had before him. I'm not sure, and it's not been confirmed, but I think you can see Morrigan pour the more calm and tactful part of Mythal that's within her into the haughty fragment contained in the statue before Mythal appears. Otherwise it makes no fucking sense, why would the furious, still vengeful fragment accept to tell Solas to stop? That fragment didn't live among humans and marry and have children with mortals, she shouldn't give a fuck about the modern Thedas and the modern elves.

This was supposed to be because Rook convinced her, I thought. I mean we can have a whole 'nother argument about whether or not that makes sense but I understand that by the time Rook earns her favor she is committed to your cause of telling Solas to back down. So at least in that aspect it's all consistent.
The real Mythal is still such a mystery to me. Like, you know the story(stories) about Flemeth and Conobar and Osen? I always wondered why a goddess of Vengance, supposedly, would choose, out of all people to answer the prayers and posses someone who at best, wanted revenge for a husband who sold her to another man or at worst, vengeance on a husband that she cheated on an abandoned in the first place. Were there really not more worthy people in the entire universe? But in this game you learn that Mythal is actually kind of fucked up herself and it kind of all makes sense. But even that is not explicitly touched on when you think it would be since this game treats the player like they are stupid. What about the fact that Mythal actually was for all intents and purposes, Elgar'nan's husband? Confirming the Dalish legends? The fact that you learn that she actually did talk shit about Solas to Elgar'nan and that he was possibly an embarrassment to her while he was doing his rebellion? Never mentioned. So many interesting things to explore left on the table it's just so fucking sad.

Dwarves? Yes. Humans? No, they arrived in Thedas after the Veil, and the elves started blaming them for "contracting" their mortality. It's pretty much confirmed in the Masked Empire that humans can't live in a world without Veil, it gives them headaches, the world appears grey and wrong, and they can barely walk in it, while elves are shown feeling much stronger, quicker, and seeing the world full of colors.
