PoE 1 has a lot of legacy endgame content that will overload you if you try to take it all in at once. PoE 2 has less of that baggage (for now). Just take things one step at a time. for how big the passive tree is, you only start out with like 4 options to choose from.

Build ton of Life, cap your resists and you'll be fine. PoE 1 and assumingly PoE 2 is more forgiving of your build having shitty damage, but you will absolutely get crushed if your build has shitty defences.

those are all of the weapon types that are gonna be in the game but in the early access rundown video they specifically showed off the types of skills in. Basically, they associate weapon types with certain classes, so if a class is in their weapon type skills are in. We gotta wait for duelist for sword, huntress for spears (should be soon), templar for flails, shadow for daggers, and marauder for axes.

none of the classes in poe2 is going to be brainless by the standards of modern gaming but warrior or monk is probably what you want, with all 6 of the classes 12 yet to be ported being melee or semi-melee, so your options will keep growing.

PoE has automatic skills that give a chance of automatic parry. They also added retaliation skills when you block, which are just Guard Counters from Elden Ring. PoE 1 and probably PoE 2 monster melee attacks are not automatic hit confirms, they're actually invisible cones in front of them. So you can dodge melee hits by simply circling behind monsters just like in Souls games. Everything in the two games is theoretically dodgeable. Practically you're going to get hit eventually because the game is basically a bullet hell shmup if it had random patterns.

No. And everything being technically avoidable also means that monster damage is high, especially with long telegraphed attacks. So if you see a brigh AoE mark on the ground, get away from it. That shit is going to kill you no matter how tanky you think you are.

They explicitly called it the atlas, not wraeclast

How the beast’s corruption would have gotten outside of wraeclast remains to be seen, and has heavy implications for space time and the atlas considering it may have happened in the far past since doryani is involved

We really don’t know enough to say, but it’s not certain that it’s Wraeclast, or Wraeclast as we know it

no, you have to claim the EA code on the PoE site and then it gives you a steam key that will allow you to add the client to your library and be able to play the EA from Steam
The Steam key is only for adding the client to your library, it will still require you to have an EA enabled GGG account

Yes, basically that purple birch is trying to revive the Oriathan theocracy. She wants to use the beast to shut down all other forms of power/gods, and make there just be one god (Nightmare is the one true eternal!)

It’s suspected that act 6 is then… the beast and corruption gets out of hand and spreads beyond anyone’s control.
That then leads to the endgame of the beasts corruption being spread as far as the eye can see throughout Wraeclast, and you traversing the atlas to try and cleanse it bit by bit

It is crazy how radically different PoE 2 is like every couple of months. Colored gem sockets are tied to your equipment. Actually all gem sockets are innate and white now. You'll still have five flasks. Actually you have two flasks and charms now. Crafting bench is gone. Actually maybe it's back again? There will no longer be damage supports. Actually damage supports are back but you can only use one slot per support gem.

I think the more leagues and systems that get introduced going forward the more it'll feel like POE1 again. It's not a bad thing imo, the best thing they can do is capture the feeling of everything being new as a first impression for POE2 while keeping progression from league to league satisfying.

Druid had extra work done on him because of the change to WASD movement. They had to not just reanimate him and all the class moves, but also the bear.
Huntress they apparently were not happy with how the ranged/melee hybrid playstyle was working and so are touching that up. Both are mostly done and should be in "soon"

GR150 isnt relevant content. most people don't do it. there is literally no reason to do it other than leaderboard bragging rights.
most people do up to GR130 for upgrading legendary gems.
loot drops from the guardian cap at GR 90, that includes primal ancients, so when people are farming for LITERALLY THE BEST GEAR IN THE GAME, theyre not going beyond 90.

in act 5 you go back to oriath and kill one of the templars that exiled you (dominus subordinate) but actually he was possessed by innocence who is basically "god" and then everything goes to shit even harder.

i find it concerning that they changed absolutely nothing about all of the recycled mechanics except for intentionally making expedition more annoying.

its fine to use an existing poe1 mechanic as a baseline but surely this would be a great opportunity to fix some of the problems that have become apparent after years of them being in poe1.
and qol aside, it kinda rubs me the wrong way how mechanics are copied 1 to 1 with no functional changes. do you not want to add something to the mechanics to make them more interesting? like maybe a big remnant that applies a mod to other remnants in range if you explode it? or at least new remnant mods?

the new waystone mods also seem even worse than poe1 map mods where suffixes only give waystone drop chance (god knows how useful that is) and theres still the problem of mod balance with some of them being basically meaningless while others instantly brick the map. t17 mods are a much better attempt at balancing risk and reward and its disappointing to see the regression.

Breach monsters are different, rewards are different, boss is different. Ritual main reward is different, unknown if the boss fight itself is different. Delirium is similar, main reward is different, simulacrum looked like the boss fights were more 1 on 1 rather than Omniphobia/Kosis spawning during the waves. Expedition main mechanic is the same, rewards are different and the boss fight may or may not be different.

My worry with poo2 will be that now that we have rolling / blocking GGG will design some encounters with that in mind. Meaning the proper solution to something will be that you MUST roll / block. This is something the designers must keep in check and avoid some kind of rolling puzzle boss fight or big damage things that must be invulnerable to avoid.

That's really not going to happen. In the gameplay trailer they showed it's basically just more PoE but the systems are slightly different. The idea that PoE2 will be some significant departure is dead in the water i think. i keep reading this but it makes no sense to me, what mainstream appeal does poe2 have?
it still has an autistic skill tree that requires you to actually think, understand the games mechanics and plan out a build, which you cant even respec
it still has gear with stats more complicated than "damage up arrow" and "defense up arrow"
it still has a million skill and support gems to choose from
it still has an autistic crafting system instead of "click button to get more damage". its a nonlinear progression system more complicated than "kill enemy and get stronger item"

it might be even less casual friendly than poe1 because its very punishing on softcore
cant kill campaign bosses by doing 10% damage, dying and going back in
cant kill pinnacle bosses by phasing them, tanking their mechanic, dying and going back in
cant clear maps while dying

Trust me, he fucking hates D3 and D4. He used to be a much better streamer and different person. He changed completely for numbers. Back in the day, he was originally a D3 streamer, yeah. But in early poe 3.x leagues, his primary game was poe and he no lifed them hard. He was borderline on the inner circle streamer crowd, but he could never fully break in. By inner circle I'm talking about the steamers who make up the stalling podcast. The elite of the elite poe streamers. He and quin used to be close and good friends and they'd raid each other all the time. At one point, they had a falling out. I think datmodz insulted quin one too many times on his stream and quin would never mention his name or raid him again.
When this happened and around the time lost ark came out, his streaming and personality completely shifted. He had had enough of not having good numbers for poe. He flunked into having success being a top lost ark streamer and only followed the numbers from then on out. He puts on such a weird act now. He will never say anything negative and talks like he's a bit stupid when he's not. He'll never answer anything real in chat and answers as some weird character. It's so strange and hard to put to words. He's a good guy but I found him pretty hard to watch in this current arc. He plays D4 for months straight and dumps poe for it simply because it's better numbers for him. He wants to be able to keep streaming as his full time gig.
Another contributing factor is around the peak of lost ark, I think he just got very bored and burned out on poe. He's actually very good at the game. Always makes his own builds and does one day of bossing and makes hundreds of divs, gets his hh/mb, and then quits shortly after. He'd always jump to other games while poe was going ever since like 3.14 because the game just became so easy and there was nothing to it anymore.
I'm pretty sure he'll go hard on poe 2, but he'll jump to D4 since it's better numbers for him.

they 100% do. in poe you have to make a lot of rather unintuitive choices very early into the game.
look at diablo 3 for example:
you start the game with literally 0 skills to choose from. you get 1 new skill or a few supports every time you level up, and you can swap them out with no penalty. they are also much simpler and fit more neatly into categories that are easy to understand
the items are literally just uparrow and downarrow

meanwhile poe has its passive tree with permanent allocation
skill and support gems chosen as quest rewards with way more options than d3 and no easy way to tell if "added cold damage" is going to be more damage than "faster attacks"
floor items which you have no idea if they are better because theres like 10 lines of text on them including base type

t. gf liked d3 but bounced off of poe because it has too much minmaxxing and number crunching

i will give you wasd for console players though

and i definitely agree that poe feels like ASSHOLE to play for the first few levels, its one of the biggest problems with the game for new player retention. fucking glacial hammer with 0 attack speed, slowly attacking mobs one by one
i dont see that going away with poe2 though, or rather there is nothing stopping them from fixing it in poe1
the solution is to significantly reduce the windup time of attacks so starting an attack with 0 attack speed still feels snappy, it just takes a while for another one to come out. but clearly they dont care or they would have changed it a long time ago

I played Last Epoch exclusively on controller and it felt great, its a shame the game is so buggy and a lot of shit just doesnt work.

Hopefully poe2 does something with the modifiers because even if you have to consider if cold damage is worse than attack speed. You still have the problem of rolling a T20 mod on a lvl 80 weapon or some nonsense in POE1. or certain mods just being insanely rare for no goddamn reason. only to have outside crafting methods be a mental wall for everyone who doesnt want to even bother with fossil / beast crafting.

i think they actually are fixing the rare floor drops, in the new video you could see the breach boss dropping a "tier 3" item which presumably only rolls t3+ mods. kinda like how the shipping mechanic in settlers primarily gives you items with high tier mods. its a very good change

i really wonder if you can have multiple omens active for the same craft. theres nothing indicating otherwise and there is the double exalt omen, which is kind of useless if you cant pair it with a rare omen that empowers an exalt, so i would assume that you can stack omens.
depending on the existing omens you might be able to do some pretty targeted crafting, like a suffix non-attack annul
