I think it's time to address this toxic generate/spend (G/S) rhetoric that I see bubbling up.
What GGG have COOKED up is actually an Apply/Consume (A/C) paradigm, never been done before btw.
With G/S, you cannot perform the second more powerful action until you have G'd up some resource.
Under A/C, you can still perform the second more powerful action but it won't be as powerful as it could be as you didn't A something to C.
Furthermore, the A/C method may only need to be used for more powerful enemies, so a C skill may still be perfectly useful in clearing trash mobs without the C component from the A skill.
Hope this helps clear up any confusion.

it basically announced to the world that none of the D4 devs kept up on non-blizzard arpgs, because in poe1 that same stat is called "% increased cooldown recovery" which means it has diminishing returns so that dumb shit can never happen.

Community pushed him out during the great loot nerf in lake of kalandra league. They called him out on it and raged hard. He finally posted that he's had enough and is taking a break. That was the end of Chris having anything to do with poe. Go check his reddit profile and see his last few posts if you don't believe me. I actually do not think archnem, even with however many league iterations they went through to make it more suitable, really had a big effect on the game
Archnem's entire thing was making rares more dangerous; after numerous nerfs, rares, to most builds, are NOT more dangerous still, you just need a lot more garbage to deal with them
then they said they wanted to make them more rewarding; there was one point where it was cool but it also resulted in the weird TFT "come cull my rare golblin with 5000 MF so that 5000 divs drop", now we don't have this anymore and it's random but it's so random it might as well not even be a factor

all in all it's just dogshit; it was a stupid ass endeavor they could have spent so much more time and energy on other things instead of fixing what wasn't broken and ending up with more or less the same result as before
it fucked up the entire community-side of things too, just all around stupid idea

the fist trial is sanctum, the second trial is ultimatum, but you can do just one or the other, but i think you'll be waiting a while for your ascension if you dont want to do the sanctum one.
so it should be like Trials of Chaos (New Lab) (Sanctum for Ascension)
and there's more coming soon. probably tota and one other one. but i don't think you have to rewrite the whole thing just for this.
also you can do these labs / trials / challenges or whatever they are now as like end game content to get unique stuff, i think. i don't remember what the unique stuff was.

I don't do all of that per pack, I do it on bosses. PoE2 seems awfully similar. You're only using a bunch of skills on bosses and hard rares, just like current PoE. We'll all find out in two weeks, I guess. Here he says there are MTX from the supporter packs that won't work in PoE2 because there are no classes that use those weapon types. Honestly they could put the weapons in the game even if they don't have corresponding classes in the game, so those weapons probably simply don't exist yet.

No he's talking about core game content, the PoE 2 campaign alone is going to have 100 Bosses, 100 Zones and 600 unique monsters.
EA launch only has 50 Bosses, 50 Zones and 400 Monsters.
This all effects the available content at endgame.
Missing 3 Acts
Then also 6 other Starer classes, and all the missing ascedancies.

Duh. I know that. They don't. My point is they're doing all the animations and rigging for each weapon one class at a time. And the class heavily influences the weapon archetype. Hence why swords etc. aren't in yet.

I also think they should make Shields their own dedicated weapon type and even let people dual wield shields, odd shield stuff is just mixed in with other weapon types.

the funny thing is i look at both the witch ascendencies and they look like something a sorc would use, i presume the 3rd ascension would be for minions, choose either, from the nodes we have seen it seems to me infernalist witch is best out of the 2 from the passive nodes we have seen, blood mage looks like life stacking and getting crit damage from that unless you can scale minion damage off of that?

Should also upgrade 1 of the Free 4 tabs you get to "Premium" this will let you list items on the trading market.

Currency and 1 premium tab upgrade is all you need to get started.
Map and Fragment are "Endgame" tabs, so you can hold off buying them until you need them.

As for the other tabs, we will have to wait too see how they convert to PoE 2 before their value can be evaluated.

Kinda wish colored sockets were still tied to weapon and armor types. It would make build creation a lot more difficult but interesting. Also would give space to uniques that have differing socket loadouts.

Also since they got rid of all of that stuff, I wonder what Tabula Rasa is going to even be like anymore. The last iteration was just three white sockets but every socket is white now.

I am already liking PoE2 more than PoE1 for the simple fact that it will be fresh to experiment again. PoE1 just felt very solved in my opinion. I also like that the gameplay is slower which allows you to actually engage with mechanics rather than "zoom so fast I ignore all mechanics." For me, I like to feel like I am playing a game. Quin revealed a NDA story from the exilecon dinner the other day, about how Chris was sperging out like a little kid and leaked the work in progress PoE 2 cinematic to everyone there he was so proud of it and wanted to show it off. Multiple other streamers have since also corroborate this.
Also been a few stories come out now about since the NDA has lifted about Chris actively participating with random players in the recent PoE 2 closed beta from a month or two ago.

This gay narrative that his not involved or doesn't care about PoE 2 is cringe.

PoE 1 is a complete mess outside of paid cosmetics due to 15 year old smol indie dev mistakes. The default game armor is N64 tier visual garbage.

In PoE 2 armor adjusts to body size and gender. Some, if not all (haven't seen everything yet) have a unique male/female variant, Female version of the Armor has adjustments for breasts and hips and might have a skirt over pants etc.
PoE 1 paid cosmetics follow a similar formula.

Pic related would look different on a male character for instance.

You can freely choose which trials you use to ascend, yes. But the trials only become available as you progress through the acts, so people will seethe as soon as they find out while the choice is true, it also means you give up earlier ascension by skipping sanctum.

You progress through acts, and each act between 2, 3 and 4 unlocks one type of trial, as the trials are linked to the faction that the act centers around
This means that the first mode of ascension you unlock in act 2 is sanctum, and act 3 is ultimatum. act 4 is karui centric, so it will probably be tota you unlock there.

Yeah the Ranger ones in particular looked pretty bad, like they just crammed all the nodes into the "corner" and called it a day. I hope they're just placeholders(though I doubt that, to be honest) since some of the others, e.g., Chronomancer, have a very clear theme to their layout.

Neon said he can beat Act 3 in 4-5 hours, double that and its 8-10 hours to reach maps.
Act 1-3 is equivalent to Act 1-5 in PoE 1. Pretty much the same average clear time as PoE 1.

Granted, your first time will be much longer than 8 hours lol.
Expect tyty to have sub 3 hours runs on day 2.

Anyone else not like how the new atlas looks? It feels too... gamified. It always felt like a lot of UI in Path of Exile was borderline diegetic. Maps that could reasonably be some piece of parchment. Even the Path of Exile campaign map looked exactly like a real map. Now there is this giant landscape with a bunch of 3d assets.

One part of Path of Exile 1's success that was entirely due to Chris Wilson is that he had the foresight to design the game in a way that is easily scalable. He focused on building a system that allowed them to pump out randomized maps using any sort of texture pack very easily. The gem system, the openness of the atlas, how angular the passive tree is. A lot of it creates a lot of room for adding more stuff and moving things around.

You can tell there are a lot of people who had never worked on early Path of Exile 1 working on PoE 2. The passive tree has a ton of weird windy curves and tightly packed node clusters that it's going to be annoying as fuck if they decide to radically change parts of it.

Difficulty slider 1-100%.

With the basic mechanic, the further you move away from the mirror starting point the more % it ramps up in difficulty, eventually you will hit your difficulty cap because you either die or can't kill fast enough the event ends.

But when its the full map, its locked at whatever the % difficulty is for the entire map, which can be insane.

The only way to prevent this is to make every build the same, and also see to it that there are no mechanical advantages either. And that sounds like shit game design.

I know everyone is on the PoE2 train (I am too) but I am just really happy with my Mamba character. Easy dot cap on non-uber bosses, and even on uber-bosses I can hit dot cap if I get the chance to throw mines. Has fantastic EHP and ridiculous sustain. Hit level 100, 7/7 ubers deathless, etc.

Now I feel like I can just take a break until PoE2.

You don't get to choose what layouts you get, just as you don't get to choose what delve nodes you get. You get what gets generated, with no real way of influencing it. If you don't like what you get you either do it anyway or you take a longer way around or you backtrack and go somewhere else

bosses in the endgame have been said to be juiced up compared to their acts variants, including new attacks or changed patterns

So a lot of people use this just to troll other players. "Mageblood" in path of exile 1 is one of the most valuable unique items, its base type is [Heavy Belt], but there are also a bunch of shitty belts which are also [Heavy Belt].
So people will type a custom messages like "OMFG MAGEBLOOD CONGRATS DUDE" but then its just some shit vendor unique when they mouse over it to pick it up.

$30 on sale would get you the basic necessities (Currency, Map, Fragment, Premium) but $60 would let you get more QoL stuff like Div card (maybe wait on this to see what they're like in PoE2), Quad tab, Essences if those are common.

Basically we don't know how necessary a lot of the tabs will be other than it is almost certain Currency + Map + 1 Premium. Fragment is 10/10 in PoE1, but may not be in PoE2.

poe 2 looks like a balance of the two, if you want to blast you can skip the boss maps and zoom, if you want rewards you farm the bosses.

I just want to sincerely know the pace of new content getting added into the EA. Are they going to give it to us piecemeal as it is finished? Will they suddenly announce "Hey guys, Druid releasing next week" and then drop it on us? My girlfriend has been looking forward to PoE2 since she first started seeing trailers. She couldn't get into PoE1 due to it being about spamming 1 skill and there being 10,000,000 old league mechanics. However, she has been counting down the weeks for the early access and already bought the $60 pack is is trying to talk herself out of the $160 pack to get the tummy skin for the witch. I might just buy it for her.

I wonder how much end game autism she'll actually get up to though. When she gets into a game she really plays it a ton, but she quit D4 pretty quickly after the campaign because it was boring as shit, so hopefully PoE2 isn't.

I'm assuming so but doesn't that make twinking slightly harder?
Will you need to set aside a good amount of low level uncut skill/support gems to get your secondary characters off the ground sooner? Maybe that's not too hard to do if you get lots of uncuts especially in late game.

the druid has a lot of niche balance stuff like the bear not being able to dodgeroll and loads of druid autists wanting to be a bear all the time. so GGG probably want to gather data on how much players use dodgeroll in practice vs how much they outgear content to minimize the amount they have to tryhard, and that requires an endgame trade economy to be in place first.

I think all the map "nodes" are just empty sockets, no matter how far a direction you go. The Waystone items (the new maps) dictate the difficulty/tier.
So you have Tier 1 Waystones and they go up to Tier 16. Putting a Tier 6 Waystone into an empty Atlas node for Beach creates a Tier 6 Beach map.

one huge advantage is that you don't have to run a given map a bunch of times in the hope that a specific adjacent map drops. instead you are incentivized to run different maps which are all guaranteed to have the content you care about. I normally get burned out in poe1 endgame when I stop getting the feeling that I'm "exploring" (just improving my items doesn't do it for me), so this is probably going to be my version of crystal meth.

I'm curious how we'll target farm specific divcards, which are currently a lot of the reason to run 1 map endlessly in poe1.

Map layouts like "Beach" or "Strand" still exist, as you can see in the trailer. But the layout you run is chosen by the "civ map" atlas, not by the item you put in the map device. So you get the layouts that get generated on your civ delve map atlas, with the mods you put on the key you shove in the map device.
That means you only get to run say Defiled Cathedral for apothecaries (poe1 analogy for valueble div card dropping map) whenever the rng atlas gives you that map layout.

I'm not so sure about that rerunning thing, you can't do that in Delve which is effectively V1 of this system. The fact that it goes infinitely in all directions means you just keep going and the layouts will come in a random order. This does limit Div card shit but I'm guessing that's part of the reason it works that way. Not that we know how Div cards are even going to work exactly either.

the atlas is based on delve, and you can't rerun nodes in delve.
more likely (if target farming a div card is the goal) they can just increase div card drops in zones or reduce the number of cards in a set, to reflect the fact that you can't chain spam one map in one place.

obviously we're both speculating, but
1) it wouldn't be called spell accuracy it'll just be called accuracy, it'd be the same mechanic.
2) it's already confirmed that melee doesn't need as much Accuracy to hit than ranged attackers, which is a big distinction.
3) if like in poe1, Int gives +%ES and mana, Str gives +life and +melee phys, and Dex gives EV and Accuracy, then each class only benefits once from an attribute that they aren't speccing into. e.g. a warrior is only going to benefit from mana and accuracy, not ES and EV. so its still distinctive enough that there's no meta where its worth stacking all three stats.
