I get what you're saying but in online chess that is a good strategy. I do it too because much more often than not, your opponent will do anything possible to avoid repeating even if he's black and/or lower rated. I have gotten countless wins from them blundering trying to avoid a repetition.
I wouldn't do it OTB though.

Not the first time this happened either, as much as I hate stench it's nice that reports actually do something, on lichess I don't even bother anymore
On the other hand the % of cheaters on .com is way higher in my expirience so lichess is still the lesser evil

None of that will be enough for them to ban him. He needs to either play computer only moves or have move times that are abnormal or a combination of both. He will say the discrepancy is due to him being old or a flaglet and get away with it. In the current year it's impossible to catch a smart cheater

In Stjepan's defense, to get a high rating in those time controls you need to play into the time control, ie, not take a ton of time on your decisions. If he is doing it to prepare for OTB chess, then he could be playing in a way that's antithetical to success in the time control.

No, that is just something the GUI guys came up with to justify their continued existence.

My recommendation was to have the move arrow appear on the board when you hover your cursor over a game in the master database. Like you see the "top games from this position" section, and if you hover over the Carlsen-Giri game, the arrow shows what Carlsen played in that position, so you don't have to click the game to see.

The final round of the Osho challenger league is being played. Three players, Takuya Nagase (4-1), Seiya Kondo (3-2), and Takuya Nishida (4-1) are eligible to win the tournament. Nagase and Nishida can both win outright, while Kondo can win by a tiebreaker game if he gets lucky.

In shitter online blitz? Pick one of the versions of the closed. The b3/Snyder variation in particular is often a problem for me because it's rare even among closed players and I never feel like I have enough practice against it. Starts:
1. e4 c5 2. b3
and usually continues like
Nc6 3. Bb2 d6 or something with Bb5 and often some early f4 unless black has played e5 already. f4 anyway in some move orders is still playable but it's a different more aggressive kind of plan.... which scores really well on lichess player database I see now. Yeah this all looks really good for white among blitz shitters. No wonder I get run over by it so often. I need better prep for black.

Couple reasons:
Bxc7 takes material with tempo on the queen, plus gets the bishop very involved on the attack on the king
e5 doesn't really do much. It blocks your bishop's scope.
Also, if we define the center as the central squares, d5-e5-e4-d4, it doesn't control the center. It actually cedes control of the center. The pawn on e4 controls the central square d5, but on e5 it points at d6 and f6.

The engine wants to give up the queen because it realizes it is screwed and it's better to trade off the attacking pieces so it doesn't get immediately checkmated.

I figured out why some of com's puzzle's have completely inappropriate ratings. It's right in their documentation. They lock a puzzle's rating after a period of time and it will stay there forever regardless of solve rate unless/until a com janny decides to change it.

There is no legitimate reason for this.

15 minutes of mate in 1 puzzles per day, starting right now. You have to memorize all of the basic mate patterns to an extent that eventually you can see M1 instantly, even from a distance (i.e. when calculating deeper lines). Practicing checkmates will also teach you a lot about square control and piece coordination, it trains essential skills that will help you improve in all areas of your game. Can't go wrong with that at all, and at your elo you can trust me you will see results immediately.

I meant as "on average e4 leads to more exciting chess" my bad for phrasing it like that didn't mean to sound so absolutist of course it depends more on the player's style(although one can argue aggressive players are more likely to play e4 to begin with too) and the specific lines he goes into than just the first move but if you could take like a million games of each with the same average rating and compare them there is no doubt in my mind e4 would have more sharp tactical games
it's just inheritly more combative, even in the most basic shitterest terms disregarding any concrete theory you open the diagonals for 2 pieces instead of one and the pawn on e4 is undefended unlike on d4

My take is he always runs the engine concurrently with his games when he's doing games on a speed run account, and may glance at it from time to time to double-check that he's playing solidly and not missing any interesting lines, but tries to rely on his knowledge, experience, and intuition for the majority of his moves, at least in the early game. Whether that extends beyond speed run games is kind of up in the air, but I think Kramnik has some reasonable suspicions.

Say you're an online cheat off and on just a bit to tip the scales and make yourself look important. Does anyone else have the problem of forgetting who's turn it is when calculating long lines?

When calculating long sequences (especially in endgames) I have trouble both vizualizing the position and remembering who's turn it is, like my pea-sized brain doesn't have enough room for both. Once I forget who's turn it is I have to do the calculation from the start and waste valuable time. This can happen multiple times while calculating a single move often leading to time trouble. Tips / training techniques for improving here?

If its a race type of endgame you can just count the squares to promotion to know who reaches it first. Same for the king reaching a critical square

My problem is that my board visualization still needs work. After about 5-6 moves deep things start getting fuzzy in my head. Hopefully with more practice that will get better.

Yes but people who play these openings expect that and they have prep. I have a disadvantage as I have to carefully look at what's going on in the position. This isn't some 1000 just pushing pawns because it's funny. At 1800 blitz if the guy is doing this it's either because he's drunk or he plays this meme stuff often and knows exactly what he's doing. I have to assume the latter.
