Now they have 29 main models (26 if you want to totally exclude dracthyr as them being modern enough) along with another 22 allied race models that run the gamut from fairly unique model/look to palette swap

a lot more had happened between 2004 and 2014 in terms of graphics, compared to 2014 and now, we have stagnated hard. the first one is the hardest to get, especially without a level 80, as most of the big coin easy quests require 80 to get. if you havent gotten any you also cant get the ones from running timewalking dungeons which are spammable yet.

so your best bet is to do the event quests around the fairgrounds, and the mysteries. if you can somehow get a character to 80, its a different story as there are a bunch of very easy 5 minute quests that reward 8-10 coins a piece (the first armor set will cost 60. 2nd will be 40, then every one thereafter is 20. after collecting 100 coins, you can get 2 per run from spammable timewalking dungeons). you might be able to do 1 or 2 of the big coin weeklies below 80, but they all require being in the new war within zones

there is currently an event bonus of +10% xp, and another quest you can grab every day in the center of the event tent which gives your character another +10% XP. leveling has also been more or less trivialized below level 70, you can get from 1-70 in a matter of less than a day.

also, though this wont help you right now, they aadded a new XP buff that gives you a 5% xp buff to all characters for each level 80 you have, called a mentor buff, that stacks up to 5 times, and is always active. so leveling gets faster the more characters you've maxed. again, wont help you right now, but in case you are interested for the future, its a handy buff for leveling alts

fastest 1-80 currently is to quest through dragonflight or really any legion onwards expansion while queueing for the timewalking dungeons as often as your patience allows. fastest is probably spamming them with a tank spec one after the other, depending on your level i was getting 3-4 levels per dungeon with the xp buffs up, and you can do those dungeons all the way to 80. they are a little annoying with all the stuns and CC, and the scaling is a bit goofy, but they arent overall that hard

the dragon form is a lost cause. body 1 is the original body and it's 90% legs, designed by a narcissistic furry bitch who draws all her ugly OCs with ostrich legs. just look at Gaiazelle's drawings you will see who came up with this hideous form.

someone really tried to salvage it with body 2 and 3, adding bulk without messing up the proportions, but it didn't take. body 4 makes the head look tiny unless you're bulking it out by using neck spines / crest / long snout. that's the best they could do with the model the dumb bitch's team made, the animation set doesn't lend itself to anything bigger. luckily she fell upwards to some marketing research position and won't be in charge of any more projects like that.

honestly, i am the same way, i got all excited about finally getting to play with people again when the new expansion came out, but i ended up doing my typical thing of finding a particular characteristic/behavior or spot on assumption based on a characteristic/behavior i dont like that some active guild members have, then i use the excuse of not liking that person because of it as my excuse for not wanting to join the channel. i just sometimes get a particular thing where i get set on not liking that particular thing about them enough to not want to play with them, then i let that be my barrier for socialization. i dont do that for the majority of people though.

i started realizing that, then i spent 4-6 months trying to change things. it takes a hell of a lot of work to not be at your computer when you live in the middle of nowhere with everything relevant 3+ hours away. i think we return to the computer because it is the one consistency in our lives. we know what to usually expect from it, so we can work around it. what i got from dealing with people was extreme inconsistency, a willingness to flake at the last possible minute because of being pussy whipped by their girlfriend/wife, etc. ive met some good people who dont do that shit, but they also dont live anywhere near me (within 2 hours each way). we are probably going be sitting in front of our computers until we die, like prisoners serving life sentences.

This stopped accurately describing WoW years ago, probably when MoP released. It returned briefly during WoD and then slowly disappeared again.

I think this is why 99% of the remaining player base consists of soi-guzzling millennials. The masculine ones have left for greener pastures; the masculine zoomers see modern WoW for what it is and won't touch it with a ten-foot pole; and the soi-guzzling zoomers are too busy being groomed on discord.

I think the spirit of old WoW is gone forever.

The currency inflation in this game is out of control. I probably have more gold now than I did during my entire original tenure of playing this game back in vanilla-wod. Guilds used to have to pitch in just to get one person the traveler's tundra mammoth so they could have a vendor to repair with during shit like Ulduar, now everyone and their dead mother has one of these transmog yaks or something even more expensive.

Female paladins are fine past a certain height threshold. Say like 5'9" or something. If they're on the taller side they get a pass since they're supernaturally powered and their strength and combat prowess is augmented far past what a normal woman is capable of.

I like that they give out mounts for comparatively low score but I'm not a fan of every season now just being a recolor of whatever they pick for the first season. what do you mean? if you're soloing a dungeon or raid and you want to exit quickly you can queue for a follower dungeon and then just leave the dungeon. it'll kick you back to the exit of the legacy dungeon.

I can enjoy the mech and goblin theme but it takes some effort, the problem is that it will be an aesthetic that only fits like 1 or 2 specs unless you are playing goblin and gnome. Maybe the raid sets will change my mind but the zone sets will be goblin themed for sure. Ardenweald and Rivendreth both have good ending to their campaign story, though I would have liked if the Denathrius betrayal had been built up longer and with more nuance.
Ysera's rebirth is a nice moment but the fact they killed off Ursoc for a cheap heartstring tug and then immediately replaced him with girlbear nature god from planet #62621 still leaves a sour note.

the consistent stories of vanilla were that the horde were the weaker faction but principled and tight-knit while the alliance were stronger in theory but riddled with corruption and absent leadership. this is why most alliance zones are about fighting internal threats, civil wars, etc. with the military having abandoned the place while horde zones are about struggling for survival on the frontier.

keeping this dynamic going forever would be impossible but it really started falling apart once the horde was shitting out gunships and the alliance became generic lawful good

Thrall was good, The Darkspear (in contrast to every other troll tribe you run into) were good, and the tauren were so good they got genocided by the centaur. Hell by the end of WC3 you had shit like the night elf mission where you slaughter a joint taskforce of orcs and men led by a human who mostly got along. The odd ones out were always the forsaken and later the blood elves who got defanged in their own expansion.

God, the least Pelagos coulda done when he became god was bullshit away to restore sacrificed anima beings and bring Ursoc back.
They implied Aliothe couldn't leave the Shadowlands, she's as tied up there as Ysera is, albeit a little more loosely to travel realms at least. So its not like we were gonna see her again anyway.
Could've at least started his career with something positive before he ruined everything again immediately after we left!
Seriously, Oribos being surrounded by shadow and the Maw being massive and red again right after he's put in power is still the funniest shit to me.

They could be anyone that didn't die to the Legion, which became a rather small statistic since the Draenei ended up on Azeroth

Toss up between WotLK and MoP.
MoP was the last one I had a very overall positive experience in with friends and shit, barely complained about most of the grinds, hardly noticed them.
But WotLK left a better impact on me. Got into WoW cause I wanted to see what happened after WC3, that was pretty much what I was looking for. With plenty other non-Arthas things keeping my interest too.

I've read and heard so, so, so many stories about how couples in officer or GM positions kill guilds. I've even experienced it firsthand. Those were always straight couples, though. There was a guild I was in back in OG Cata that had two gay male officers and it was one of the most chill guilds I've ever been in. Why is it like this?

Shadowlands also had potential. It started off pretty intriguing. Unfortunately it's tedious covenant grind in its base form amounted to nothing as everything immediately went off the rails in its first patch and kept getting worse.
WoD's saving grace was getting abandoned for content and moving on before they dragged it through the muck.

one night when we were doing M imperator prog she decided to have a melty over one guy not eating food every pull when we were wiping 2 minutes into a 15 minute fight then started intentionally wiping us because "None of us were trying hard enough so we don't deserve to play" or some shit like that.

I am a literal faggot who has helped run guilds with my bf before so maybe I am bias but 99% of the time the drama with straight couples isn't really drama over them being a couple it's drama over women in general, it's either guys who can't stop hitting on women and the bf/husband gets jealous and throws a fit and takes down the whole guild OR the more usual scenario is that the woman can't stop bringing up that she's a woman and openly flirting with men then wokescolding them when they reciprocate

Also I see nothing wrong with men making women uncomfortable in games, if women are allowed to have women only spaces then men can have men only spaces if you enter in to that space and you get hit on or feel uncomfortable maybe you should consider where you are and why you're drawing attention to the fact that you're a woman in the first place

reminds me I tried joining a guild in phase 3 of SoD thinking it would be good to get in now before 60 unlocked, got to raid night with them and first week it went fine, second week the normal raid lead said he was out for a bit due to some irl stuff and that raids were now going to be led by one of the healers who was an aussie woman who had pinned a post in the guild discord that anyone that hit on her was going to be kicked

She was bad of course, like had no idea what was going on 99% of the time and would start yelling and calling others shit when they pointed out she was fucking up mechanics on shade and avatar, she had next to zero healing done most of the time and would just berate other healers for no reason, when someone else started trying to explain things over voice she would just start whining and talking over them in her fucking meme accent, we didn't finish the raid, we tried one more week and on the third not a single person other than her signed up for the raid, wish I had recorded it because the absolute meltdown she was having was hilarious and sad
