That is bad enough but can I at least make a shady looking dwarf rogue with a hood? They are my fetish since DA2 because I was jealous of their drip every time they popped up. DA:I allowed me this with minimal modding but nobody will make Veilguard mods.

Godfuckingdamnit. Apparently, even with hats they went about their lazy old ways of the hat being attached to a leather cap that hides your hair instead of changing it to prevent clipping.
Bit unrelated but Swtor has been out for 13 years and only now that BW is finally gone, there is the first hood that allows you to keep your hair when putting it on.

Now that I think about it, there isn’t one piece of headgear that shows hair. Even the hats have a mask on them that covers the head. The only headgear with hair is a band around your head you get as part of the deluxe edition cosmetics

The point of disbanding the inquisition was that there was a massive amount of political pressure on you to disband because that's what you were always supposed to do on top of the whole thing slowly becoming corrupt and full of spies.

It's alright when you're directly dealing with elven god/ancient elven tech shit but otherwise so-so. As someone who's playing Elf Veil Jumper it can be hard to tell at times what reactivity is based on my race and which is from the faction, such as when my Rook starts speaking elven to pray for a dead veil jumper

I was referring more to stuff like Corypheus and the Elven Gods having the same goal - "take over the world" and basically the same followers - Venatori and the Red Templars/Antaam (anti-magic group that rebelled against it's leadership because its response to a magic related problem wasn't decisive enough and then got corrupted). Or how Solas is both responsible and helping you stop the main villain while having his own agenda.

I think the chests other than for uniques are randomised aren't they? Which is frankly irritating as fuck because I'm near the end of the game and still running round in green and blue gear because its not spat out the upgrades yet and I can't be bothered running round every merchant in the game to find who sells it.

You know speaking of Bellara made me remember another thing I thought was so fucking stupid that the game did is how they made an entire faction about elves researching ancient artifacts, and then you have the Nadas Dirthalen, which actually you manage to fix and then YOU BASICALLY TELL IT TO SHUT UP BECAUSE IT'S ANNOYING AND NEVER TURN IT ON AGAIN. The entire point of that faction existing boils down to like one scene and I don't even remember what info it ends up giving you. But you never mention it again. even though they are similar characters in appearance, merrill struggle is very different

da2 as a whole has that scarcity, poverty and marginalization aspect to it, Merrill is not satisfied in her ignorance and is increasing obsessed in fiding a little glimpse of the old elves glory, in doing so she follows a path of self destruction while being oblivious of its consequences, the naivety presents interesting situations like her suspension of moral judgement over blood magic, such attitude clash with the world and makes for an interesting dramatic relationship with her community, such background is not present with bellara, she doesnt suffer such scarcity in her pursuit of knowledge and she has more access to history than merrill ever did.

merrill struggle also had a ethical side for us, how far would you let your partner go to pursuit a miracle solution that blends with delusions, and you cant blame her for it because of how dysfunctional and scarce the world aroud you is, but which is the point you have to step in and stop her before someone gets hurt?

the rivalry romance pretty much involves convincing her to not sacrifice everything she already for a selfish pursuit of a chance of a better life that would make her lose everything, and it ends in tragedy(which also is the genre of fiction da2 is) anyway since you couldnt stop before the keeper died

If there is any future dragon age content its going to require a massive time leap. It reduces their need to include past game choices but it gives the series a chance at ignoring the mess left behind by Veilguard. Veilguard really is the Star Wars sequel trilogy where it doesn’t leave much going forward because everything was destroyed to set it up.

It feels optimistic to think there will be another game.
This one took 10 years of development hell to even get out and with so many original writers gone and BioWare's future up in the air as the company shrinks the whole game feels like this is it. The end. Maybe in a couple decades a different company can scoop up the IP but frankly I don't know if it's popular enough for much interest.

Cant make educated decision. On one hand freeing it makes sense, on other hand freeing it doesnt mean elves cant make the same or other mistakes in the future.
And then there is practical vs look dilema. Chaing Lightning robes (Free) seem better but i like the look of bodysuit (Keep) more.

The choice between Minrathous and Treviso is ridiculous. It's presented like it's an equal choice but it really isn't. As shown in the opening, Minrathous has a floating death star palace that can shoot laser beams, has probably the most powerful mage users in the world in one place, has a powerful standing army etc vs a rip off Spain port town that has none of that.

You should be able to explain this and avoid Neve's tantrum because Tevinter should be able to hold it's own.

I feel the same and I finished it yesterday
. It’s been such an anticipated game for me all year and now it’s over I feel a bit lost as there’s no where I can speculate and discuss where it will go. With DA2 we had the falllout of the Mage rebellion to look forward to in DAI. In DAI we had the Solas reveal and the plans set up in Tresspasser. With Veilguard, it just feels like there won’t be a future and if there is it’ll be so far removed from the series I’ve grown up with.

I’ll probably do a full series replay at some point when I’ve digested how I feel about the series and the game.

I don't think it should have been Valta because she basically already had her arc but I think it should have been basically her same character starting from the same point, for people who didn't play Descent. She needed to be a Shaper and have dwarven history and culture be very important to her. Maybe investigating what became of Valta and taking up her mantle of researching the Titans. there's not going to be any remaster. there's literally no one at the studio that knows how DAO engine works, it just can't be done. A remake would technically be possible, but do you actually see them including basic plot points like the ability of FEMALES to get pregnant and the MALES to impregnate for the god child part? Just finished Veilguard, really loved it. By no means a perfect game and it definitely took awhile for me to warm up to it. Early on I thought I was going to dislike the whole cast but they really grew on me over time and now I feel they can comfortably stand among all the other DA casts. The Marvel-y dialogue grated at times but when it was just being earnest and fun I really liked it, that said we need a moratorium on "we/you/I got this" for all Bioware games, they can have it back once they prove they can go two scenes without it. I'm not much into ARPGs these days but I ended up enjoying the combat quite a bit, yeah it's not classic DA combat but that concept has changed in every game anyway. Pic is my Rook on the left (rogue shadow dragon) and my new Rook on the right (mage death lady) that I might do another, meaner playthrough with. Oh also I totally called the twist with V early on and still was very amused by it.

Eh, they still followed the normal male/female selection with making the Inquisitor in Veilguard. Doubt it'd be something they'd change unless the Corinne tranny was involved. Though honestly the only changes they should make in a hypothetical remake is make Solas open for both sexes. I'd say the same about Morrigan because I think the most lore relevant romances should always be the most open ones, but I don't think she was ever designed to be anything but a man-obsessed heterosexual and that has been only enforced by further games.

What the most fun lorewise combination of race, specialization and faction?
i tried human mage antivan crow spellblade, sound not fitted at all crow reactivitty mentioned daggers and poison, and no magic. Second time was Elf warrior Mourn Watch reaver, honestly i thought that something like dark knight/antipaladin , but in reality it's fucking Captain America with throwing shield perks.
So now i had option with all 3 rogue specializations - Veil Ranger, Duelist and Saboteur, Evoker for Mage and Slayer and Champion for Warrior. The issue that most of them just replacement of companions skills and i don't feel unique wth them so much. Duelist is the same necro dual wield rogue as Lucanis, Evoker same cryomancer as Neve, Veil Ranger same Bellara electric marksman and Champion same Fire damage as Davrin. So should i try something of this or maybe just go Slayer/Saboteur with Lords of Fortune? And which combination of race and faction has best synergy? Only what i have seen it's probably Veil Jumpers and Elves. But what about rest of races and factions?

You can't view companions in this game as having overlapping roles because it's not that kind of game. It's all just different cooldowns for you to use. You even kinda want one companion that has the same role as you so that they can reduce resistances to your shit.

I don’t have an issue with Solas being the key part of the events, it’s more so that the game suffers because he is Patrick Weekes pet. Same way how everything in the game (blight, old gods, archdemons, tranquil etc) is because of the elves, the series going forward has made it so that only Solas and his relationship with the characters and the world is important and gets attention.

I hardly play evil characters but I do have interest in shaping my character to who and what I want them to be. So it sucks to see us given the most watered down version possible being given. Frankly it's ludicrous the amount of weight Davrin pulls compared to most other companions. Lucanis brands himself "the professional" and 90% of his time is spent pestering people about coffee rather than put in any actual work. How many species are Neve or Taash bringing back from the dead? What does Harding even do?

Its retarded as a concept because they chose to set this game in Tevinter the slave holding country on the continent. its like setting a game in 1850s New Orleans and not having any black people

Taash is a lot more tolerable in the party banter than in cutscenes. The bitchy attitude directed towards Neve and Emmrich doesn't come across outside of a couple cutscenes. In banter Taash's attitude is way more chill and jockish. It's like there are two different personas between banter and cutscenes.

I mean the Antivan Crows have gone from slave trained assassins who oppress for gold to total good boys and even the Grey Wardens have been somewhat woobified with their representation being dads to adorable griffins and a funny French Dwarf couple. Veilguard at least in its current version was always meant as Thedas family friendly edition.
