It hurts to do so, but everything must come to an end...

I had a good run, it was a fun game, probably GOTY.
It had good writing. I liked the pacing. The companions were the best of any RPG ever, so were the romances.
I'm also happy they didn't shove any politics in your face.

All in all, it was a good game, and it will stay in my memory forever. I can't wait to reinstall when the DLCs come out.

When doing collaborative creative exercises such as film production or game development, stories of "we wanted to do X, but because of Y we ended up with Z" have been ubiquitous. I hate epler and bellara with a passion but he did work in DAI. I know anon was shitting on Epler earlier but Horror of Hormak was so good for what it implied we might get in this game. The way the tension built and the slow realization of what the murals were showing and how the goddess expression seemed to become more cruel. And then the potential for body horror and creativity was of course unlimited. But this game doesn't really deliver on any of that. Ghil doesn't ever really make a flesh creature out of anything or anyone except darkspawn mobs and the archdemon just had an ugly jabberwock head and oh, there's 3 of them. It's so generic and dull compared to what they could have done based on that short story.

My main problem with Kasumi's quest was it wouldn't let you do it as a fully stealth successful heist and you always have to end up fighting an apache flying Afrikaner. The party bit was great.

The quest is decent: it's not among the best of ME2, in my opinion, we should feel invested in helping Kasumi by empathizing with her for her dead lover colleague but I have no empathy for a character I've never seen and whose complete character arc happens off screen
the part where the secret is encoded in a sex tape though is kino, modern Bioware could NEVER

still, a mediocre ME2 quest would be the greatest achievement for DAV

Taash is a very conflicted character, stuck in between two cultures, two genders, hiding their fire breath and having a cold, unloving mother. Considering their circumstances, their personality makes total sense AND if you get them through their personal quest they calm down a LOT and actually turn into a very lovely person when interacting with other companions.
I think older gamers (or more privileged gamers I guess) haven't really had to deal with any of these issues and don't understand what they can do to somebody. They're mountainous pains to deal with, and I love how they portrayed their arc from being miserable aloof cunt to a caring, loving but still blunt person.

In other words, why are people so against a character starting out as a cunt but becoming more welcoming as they change through their arc? Do they hate good writing?

okay but why did Solas really need all the mythal wankery post veil? He feels responsible for her death, he's wrong but it's an understandable reaction. But knowing that the veil is unnatural and is fucking over all your people and is your fucking fault is a powerful enough motivation to try and bring it down. I think it might have been a more interesting storyline if the griffons were brought back and were grown and already trained up to be Wardens and they were already doing the griffon riding thing again. And THEN you learn why they went extinct the first time and Davrin has to decide to set them free or just continue on the course and pray history doesn't repeat itself. Wasn't this specifically explained in the game? Leliana says once her scouts started going missing, she pulled all of her scouts from the field in fear of losing the rest of them. She feels terrible about it and blames herself for what happened in Haven, and then you can either harden her by saying yes, the scouts and troops understand their life is in the line and you should've kept them on the field, or then you can soften her and remind her that we don't treat our soldiers like fodder.

Fair enough. Though I think Hogwarts was carried by its IP and brand in the same way that FIFA does. Other examples of well selling RPGs such as Witcher 3, BG3, or DAO are coincidentally very good games. The public can be swayed by marketing but that's not always the case at all.

I just finished it bros and I don't know what to think. I will always be sad that the game never acknowledged events that came before. No closure for the Warden or Hawke. No reference to the choices you made and how things have gone. I did have my Inquisitor, who romanced Solas, leave with him in the happy ending where I talked him down which I appreciated.

Pros:
>I didn't mind the gameplay. I played the dagger mage which was fun
>I liked the locations
>Great design in both the gods. Would've liked to have seen more
>Story was ok. Ending was a highlight

Cons:
>Companions were hit and miss. Davrin, Lucanis, Bellara and Emmerich were the only enjoyable ones
>Too many companion quests. I felt like everytime I wanted to move the story forward, another light would be in the lighthouse forcing me to go to a place for a chat
>Taash was awful. The non binary story was ridiculous and was a clear self insert and ruined the characterisation.
>Retcons, no references to past games, cameos are weird and add nothing because they feel like different characters.

Anyway, time to deep dive into lore shit and see what I missed. Also what is the deal with the secret ending? The game felt like a swan song for Dragon Age but this new le hidden evil credit scene didn't make me excited.

Epler actually went out to the press and said that they removed any depth or nuance from the Dalish by making them reject E&G outright as a WIN to them. Because uwuuu you were able to wipe a Dalish clan in every game and they deserve it, the poor things. Incredible take.

The way you enter the Fade in Origins makes no sense. A Sloth demon puts you to sleep? OK. In The Calling they're in the Fade because of a demon's curse or some shit? Again it's just a spell. In DA2 it is another ritual. In DAI it's a rift and an eluvian. This is the only time it's actually a big deal because you are there physically.
