SoD failed because the devs either didn't give a fuck or were given such a small budget that they couldn't really do anything with. Or a combination of both.
Either way I'm happy to get FRESH again. The game got it right 20 fucking years ago, we don't need to change anything.

its fine. starts to show its issues by the time you're in BRD when you really have no way of blocking on demand and classes will rip threat off you, even if given enough time with consecrate and RF up. but its still manageable.

I tanked as one in 2019 and i only had issues sometimes with keeping threat on bosses with retarded dps that dont want to wait like 2 seconds, otherwise there were 0 issues with doing any endgame dungeons.

you have to drink a lot, but its usually when the mages or healers drink too so its all good. as a warrior or bear you can kinda keep moving to new packs while the bluebars top up though which is only marginally quicker

Almost everyone does GDKP on era and the amount of gold everyone has still drives up the prices of consumes and other items. Gold buyers are the prime cause for this.

Right so then ban gold buyers not gdkp. banning gdkp just makes the game harder for people with no guilds. Now if i want a preraid BiS quality item i have to buy it in AH for 500g instead of spend 100g for better version in a catch up raid, so i have more incentive to buy gold now without gdkp than with gdkp.

You're not wrong, I can't argue with that. It all comes down to Blizzard banning gold buyers, gold sellers and bots but Blizzard barely does 1/3 of this if at all. GDKP however is a symptom of mass gold buying and drives prices up on the AH. It makes sense for blizz to be proactive and also ban GDKP.

As long as your weapon is a blue one from a level appropriate dungeon you are good.
Warriors power spike regularly throughout their leveling experience. its really only a pain in the ass when you are stuck using level appropriate greens or blues 10 levels out dated. I remember hitting 30 and soloing stv trolls with an green axe from the vendor in stv and it was doable but slow.

Warrior is fun when you get gear, when you dont get gear you basiclly arent a class and more like an NPC someone kills for a quest in western plaguelands.

GDKPs wouldn't exist without gold buyers and I'm tired of pretending that a large chunk of the playerbase aren't degenerate swipers that pay for boosts / raid loot, I've seen it happen all too often on era.

Obviously everyone loves to pretend they're this 99% parsing god that raid leaders fall over backwards, but even those people tend to cut corners in order to get ahead of the crowd. So you end up with brownies fully decked out in crafted epics by the end of the first month, despite barely logging into the game.

For those of you who played it during the first round of classic, how bad is it to get into groups as a Rogue? I'm planning to go Alliance Rogue -> Shaman for TBC. Rogue is mainly just for the fun PvP while leveling, but I do want to do some endgame stuff as well.

Warlock is the most slept on spec in Vanilla and by far and away the best DPS in TBC. It isn't even close, the class is just so fucking stacked. There's no way this is going to be fun past a couple weeks. Once you niggers start hitting level 30 and you have to quest/grind/pvp in STV, it'll once again become apparent how fucking mind-numbing, repetitive and TIME consuming it is to get to level 60. All that while fucking walking everywhere because you can't get a mount until level 40

It isn't 2019 anymore. We had ONE chance at classic and we already blew our loads 5 years ago. This will not be anything like it was back then. I'm going to try it out for memes for a couple of weeks, but I guarantee over half of the population will leave very early this time

It’s extremely easy to get into a hunter’s melee range lol. Warriors have charge + intercept and hamstring, rogues speak for themselves, shamans have frost shock and ghost wolf, rets have freedom and stun. The casters will melt you long before you can even do half their health.

i usually just get herb and skinning while leveling because it's bonus income. absolutely worth leveling secondary professions whilst leveling as well since they're easy to level and become indispensable later in the game anyway. fishing is endgame content for me.

Hunter pvp isn’t very fun in general, and you’re going to get dunked on by most classes once you get into raid gear territory.

Good luck. I was a top 1% Alliance Warlock and wanted to be honourable (never opened on others) and world PvP was painful. UD Rogues will absolutely roll you, UD Mages/Priests are also dangerous. As always gear/spec matters - SL is braindead (and fucking BORING) but the strongest spec if you're going to get jumped on. Tidal Charm is BiS but gl getting it, Arena GM is also great but also terrible to get. You will suffer whenever you have wrong pet out (like Felhunter vs melee), which is why SL is good since you have 0.5 cast with FelDom.

On the upside, even on Alliance side you will devour Druids and Shamans are rarely an issue unless you throw Deathcoil into grounding. Still, people who will lose to you can just turn around and run away. Winning vs UD players is very satisfying, though always an uphill battle, you are always the worse choice. If you ARE going through with it and also intend on playing in TBC, hear me out and roll Human instead of Gnome. Perception with Paranoia gives you a significant edge in Arena. Escape Artist has uses but is far from mandatory on a Warlock and 5% int is not worth mentioning (Mages get more mana from it than you)

Paladin but you drop off terribly from level 30+ and it's terribly, dreadfully boring. Priest is similarly boring but much more efficient and in greater demand. Hunter is a trap, you need to work on your Defense/weapon skill or else you're in trouble. If you know what you're doing, however, it's by far the safest

Warlock or Rogue? Horde side. How rough to warlocks have it while leveling on fresh realms? Or is it just easy mode because you're fighting against other people with shit gear? I played Horde in regular Classic, so I'm thinking about going Alliance this time. Most likely healer.
Paladin or priest? I kinda want to go human paladin since last time around I was undead warlock, so like the exact opposite. The only thing that worries me is consumable grind at max level, playing a healer as main sounds rough, with my warlock I could easily grind shit even in raid spec just fine.

I think Blizzard have finally lost it. They release progressive fresh servers for the first time in 5 years with one weeks notice like how are they supposed to make the right decisions when they have one week to get feedback from the community?

I saw one post from Aggrend I think from a discord or something and it was saying that they are thinking of or are going to implement the PvP changes from SoD namely dampening and damage reduction. Anyone who has played Classic and enjoys the PvP there does so because the PvP is different from every other version of the game. Classic is the only version that doesn't have any damage mitigation from other players outside of stacking stamina, armor and magic resistances.

It's a shame if they bring this implementation to the fresh servers and I'm sure if you ask the PvP community they are not going to like that and it's going to most likely cause people to go back to Era or private servers. It may also cause disruption and imbalance the type we see in SoD and the last thing we want is a Classic that's getting patched every 2 weeks because the devs decided to mess with it.

Can someone who has the time and hangs out in these discords spread the word and let the devs know that this is a terrible idea and they should not mess with the game balance in such a drastic way after all that's for experimental game modes like SoD etc.

dps warriors ended up being the top class for speedrunning guilds. they do get cucked in some fights and are probably not the best for progression however.

i don't really understand fresh hardcore servers anyway. part of the fun of hardcore was that the server was always seeing new characters due to the nature of hardcore. there was already a built-in release valve for the economy, there's not really a good reason to totally reset.

Thats bullshit. Already played Warmane at 3x and 5x rates and I had way more fun with that. Leveling is fun once and it becomes a slog after which is why everyone did everything in their power to just boost in Classic. 2x rates would at least close the giant gaps in questing hubs.

there are barely any gaps in the vanilla questing experience, a 2x rate throws all of the levelling into a complete mess and means you outlevel shit
maybe learn to switch zones once in a while? Westfall doesnt go all the way to 20, maybe dip into Loch Modan for a bit? basic example but this is true everywhere
either way the levelling in vanilla is fine, if anything, I want a slow mode.

Feels good to not feel pressured into playing fresh to "prep" my character for TBC. I'm gunna go HAM during the pre-patch, get my BE paladin to 60, maybe do a couple of raids for some gear then ret my way to 70 where I'll have no trouble finding a guild because apparently twisting is too hard for the average shitter.
