I was trying to enjoy sitting in the audience at Combo Breaker, but in the back of my mind, I KNEW folks would be trying to do SF5 dirty over these stupid viewership numbers that are often so random and arbitrary.
So, I took screen caps on my dying phone battery. The reception at the Pheasant Run hotel is TRASH, so I actually had to get up and walk outside during the final matches to do this.
This was screen capped during the Machabo/Haitani match, not grand finals. So, the peak viewership was probably even higher than this...but my dying phone only allowed for this capture (plus I wanted to actually, you know, WATCH grand finals, not run around outside for reception)
As you can see, a LARGE chunk of viewers watch Capcom events outside of twitch. Japanese viewers actually prefer Openrec. Capcom doesn't stream on these other platforms for them to be ignored by click baiters. Also, 2 in the afternoon is NOT peak streaming hours for a FG top 8. DBFZ, T7, and MKI 1 had all the best slots, so obviously it would have peaked WAY higher if it had the same slot as last year...and yet, it still broke 50k viewers midday.
