I think Bellara is the only real hint he's dead. They used the Solas magic excuse to hide the most obvious trope in the book. You don't really realize that she gives it away.

Another anon brought up that Bellara's story lines up with Rooks. She believes her brother is dead, he's actually alive but is a demon's puppet. Her brother is her mentor the same way Varric is a mentor to Rook. They both believe they aren't good enough to replace their mentor, but are trying to prove themselves anyway.

I think overall the Veilguard is a better game than Inquisition. It may had better dialogue but the rest of the game was a slog. Everything about it from the real time timers to the long grind to the wet faces to the combat

I'm about to finish this game and i realized... I will miss it...

It has such an amazing setting but nothing is explored in depth, nothing is interesting or good. The world is awesome, the places are well crafted, but the characters... the side quests... the companions...

Is like i don't want it to end with the hopes i will find something actually decent and playable... something enjoyable and memorable. Something without disney writing or any political agenda behind it.

Seeing people complain about the companions in Veilguard being too nice to each other reminded me how I played Origins with a team of Alistair, Leliana, and Wynne for 90% of the game. Obviously the writing was a lot better but I'm perfectly fine with a team of nice people that get along well.

Here's my logical reason that I just pulled out of my ass:
The prison is blood magic. If it needs their blood to sustain itself you could imagine that it's continually leeching their life force so the horcruxes make it so that despite that, they will never die. Once the archdemons die, they succumb. But Solas said he didn't even take the dragons into account so I dunno.
