In Inquisition, she is costantly portrayed as a wronged woman who seeks retribution, so much that "she crawled through the ages for justice" - that's part of her spirit-self and it's been warped beyond repair by the Evanuris' betrayal. An elven Inquisitor can even ask her why she hasn't shown herself to the elves and she says "You do not know what you ask, child". She was always written as a figure who wanted revenge, so much many fans believed she would be the final boss if Solas was somehow convinced to stop his ritual.
And the fact that the fragment inside the statuette is the one that frees Solas from his burden also doesn't make sense: Morrigan clearly states that part of Mythal is still angry and vengeful, a fragment of her goddess personality, not the more temperate one that lived among mortals. Why the hell should THAT fragment, then, be the one to tell Solas to stop?

The Bioware formula of "these companions have side quests that you can complete whenever you want during the story" gets old as the years go by, after playing BG3 you realize how it is possible to have side quests that are perfectly integrated into the main plot. Instead with Veilguard you have the impression of sometimes being in a game more similar to those of Bethesda, where in a sandbox you can choose which adventure to face, like in an amusement park. I'm not saying that one thing is better than another, but in a type of experience that wants to be avowedly cinematic and epic, the sense of urgency is lost when I have to go with harding to have a picnic in the forest.
Anonymous

>>501761186 >perfectly integrated into the main plot. You're joking right?
Anonymous
>>501760390 >Wasn't she technically avenged when solas fucked over the evanuris? What else did she want? It's unclear, at this point. When Trespasser was released, with Solas clearly saying he had no intentions of freeing the Evanuris, something that would go against Mythal's plans for vengeance because she would need to reach them somehow, everyone thought she would actually trick him into freeing them to murder them herself in the next game. It would have actually made sense, and shown how much far gone she was after millennia of rancor.
Instead, we got a very contradictory figure who turned Solas into a Pride demon after brainwashing and using him for centuries... but who was also a kind maternal figure to those she deemed worthy enough... but also a slaver who used vallaslin... but also didn't like to be worshipped too fanatically... but who also had a whole temple dedicated to her with a well filled with the knowledge and rage of her priests... a figure who possessed mortal after mortal for some unknown reason, who allowed Flemeth to abuse her daughter only for her to accept to become her vessel - all for... what?
It's evident Gaider's original vision and the new writers simply didn't meet in the middle, and they meshed all ideas together.

>>501760869 Not that anon, but I agree with them. I don't know if it's a bug or something, but ever since I started playing, I noticed how Rook smiles at the most inopportune times, how characters always show a weird lopsided grin even during heavy conversation, and they don't move around as much as they did in Inquisition.
Either they rigged the faces and bodies wrong or they did an even worse job than Inquisition. Some of the expressions in the romance scenes in the previous game were very good, and the animators even liked to hide things out of camera, like Solas checking on the refugees while the Inquisitor speaks with Mother Giselle when first arriving in Redcliffe, or Cole hiding in the shadows when facing Envy - things people can discover only with the flycam mod, so not really necessary, but speaking of the devs' passion while working. Veilguard lacks this.
Anonymous
>>501761868 Anon there's nothing tied to the plot about Karlach having a bomb inside. Mizorah or whatever Wyll's demon was named is the most irrelevant character in the game. And don't get me started on how pointless and lame everything about Astarion is, or do you genuinely think fighting a chink vampire is tied to the Baldur's Gate or Act 3 Villains or Mind Flayers plot?
If you have nobody to talk about Troon Gate 3 then that's not our problem, coming here to praise such garbage in a desperate attempt to get a reply is just very, very sad.
Is the /bgg/ general that dead?
Solavellanon's points tally: 2185
>>501761868 You're wrong. The side quests aren't integrated onto the plot they are integrated so that you can naturally complete them alongside the main objectives because of the 3 act structure and how the game progresses. It's not like in Veilguard where there's hubs you can visit and revisit. But I can't think of any way the BG3 companion quests actually matter to the main plot.

Sometimes the game might look like garbage, sometimes it looks like Disney. But this lie "M-my Rook is happy during the wrong moments" is just a plain lie.
In fact, i've had issue only two times with animations. One during Neve quest in which she did the exact same SUPER SAD SMILE the Inquisitor used to do in DA:I and yesterday with Harding's quest in which she looked retarded.
Outside of that facial animations are a million times better than DAI and anyone insisting otherwise hasn't even played DAI to see hwo fucking disgusting are the faces your Inquisitor makes, especially in sad moments like having to choose Hawke vs Stroud.

>>501761916 Anon-chan, did you play the last game. The first elves were spirits, and Solas was a spirit of Wisdom. Mythal convinced him to get a body with the Titans' lyrium, then used him for centuries as her attendant/spymaster/commander, slowly warping his purpose ("He wants to give wisdom, not orders."). The story about the town in the north was a lie from Solas to get Leliana off his back when she questioned everyone at the start of Inquisition (but it could be true, in a way, maybe he observed a northern settlement as a spirit before getting a body).

>>501765734 Inquisition came out in 2014, a year that had basically no other good game. It also was given GOTY and was even shilled in South Park so it caught a lot of people attention
Gamers also weren't as political or reactionary in 2014. So majority wouldn't have known Bioware was bragging about their dyke and gay companions.
Nowadays however gamers are always avoiding any "woke" game or seeking to make it fail, trannies are of course also looking to make games they disagree fail (See their sabotage of Wukong, Hogwarts Legacy and CP2077).
If DAI had come out nowadays it would be extremely hated for scenes like Krem telling you she's a tranny.
But since it was back in 2014 when nobody was resentful of troons then it sold fine.

How come there's no province that's fully snow? Only Orlais and Ferelden have snowy parts? Also why is the map so ugly? Like, is there anything south of Orlais? What's that thing north of Anderfells? Is it all a continent and there's more to the map? Is it all like Tamriel and there's just ocean surrounding everything? So weird. It would have taken them zero effort to draw the ocean under Ferelden and Orlais if there's ocean there, but from the way it's drawn, it's implied there's more continental land?

Mine is 5/10.There were some good moments, but you have to wade through a lot of shit to get to them. The combat was ok, environments were cool looking, but the worldbuilding is terminally american, anywhere you go the population is just ambiguously brown people with randomized accents. Its like a netflix adaptation of dragon age. The dialogue ranges from pretty good to physically painful, sadly its usually closer to painful. There's also too many gamey aspects that break immersion and ruin the atmosphere like the mobile phone game reward screens and looting effects and sounds.

3/10, game is either incredibly boring or grating, the purposeless Rook does not draw you in, the interaction with the characters are like exposition dumps as opposed to conversations, romance is bad and juvenile, battle + weapon/armor system is convoluted and the companions make no sense, enemies are braindead, with the exception of human/elf mage battles, which were actually interesting; without having played the previous games, this game has nothing to make you interested in it...besides the character creator. with prior experience in the previous games, it makes this game like a slap in the face. and of course the dialogue is atriocious and plot is bad.
If I had never played the previous DA games, at most it'd be a 4/10. This game is just so boring and having to hit a million chests for worthless loot you can't sell at every vendor...terrible.

How are people separating the game in acts or chapters? I literally can't keep track about what's going on, this game is really bad with how it presents main quests and some are so short it's embarrassing. Inquisition had a clear cut prologue. well I beat DAI i think i fucked up though, i was trying to get cassandra for this, I have no idea how this happened i liked this game a lot more than i thought i would. i had only heard negative things and while there is a LOT of jank in the combat, i found that i think the devs were actually trying to make a game they believed in and not whatever the fuck dragon age 2 was so far my opinion is DA:O > DAI > DA2 i really wish i had done awakening but its too late now for me is the descent worth doing or should i just go straight into trespasser?

>is the descent worth doing or should i just go straight into trespasser? Descent has some interesting lore stuff and the maps are a fun re-visit to the Deep Roads. The enemies are kind of ass though. It doesn't take too long I'd say go for it but if you're itching to move on you're not missing anything out of this world.

>every single fucking village you visit in DAO got fucked just as badly as the Crossing, darkspawn had actual ambushes everywhere, people hanging from the ropes, everything is corrupted to hell and back >but of course nothing is as bad as a single shithole village being nuked I'm literally powered by my hatred to push through this abomination of a game

How hard is it to get Lucanis/Neve to hero of the Veilguard if you harden them? I'm worried I might be fucking up horribly by doing sidequests as soon as they unlock while Lucanis is away, instead of waiting until he rejoins and then dragging him to every mission
