Other than maybe the Lighthouse, I suppose?
It's just that Solas wants everyone to enjoy the Final Fantasyesque wonderland he thinks will result once people stop getting raped by demons (he never addresses this by the way) and Elgar'nan wants to lord over everyone.

>>501685215 >Using the blight as a force of creation to rebuild an empire for him to rule over. That's what I got out of it anyway This made sense back when Gilhan'nain was alive but he himself very specifically says she's apparently better at controlling the Blight than him. And Solas points out that he's a retard who thinks spamming Blight will let him control everything even as he is visibly mutating into a Blight monster, presumably out of desperation without his buddy around.
I hate Solas but Elgar'nan is just flat out retarded despite being imprisoned for years with no better plan to get out than "wait until the prison fucking crumbles". What i would like to know is why the writers are so quiet about how much people hated their game. They didn't play victim and claimed they are being sent death threats like they usually do (even when nobody interacts with them so it's an obvious lie) They didn't apologize or try to explain themselves or blame someone or something. Instead they are DEAD quiet pretending the game never happened, and the last time a developer said something, was that tr*nny Weekes having a meltdown about Trump winning. So how come??? Seeing how the ancient elven gods Elgar'nan and Ghilan'nain are apparently just picking up whatever help is within shouting distance and brute forcing their way through every obstacle, I'm getting more of an appreciation for Corypheus. Setting aside whether his plans were successful or even good, he at least made some attempts at creative problem solving. Like his fabrication of the Wardens' calling, his deployment of the Envy doppelganger, his exploiting delicate political situations in Ferelden and Orlais to stoke rebellions, his taking advantage of the social ailments pertaining to the Mage-Templar conflict, etc. For comparison the new Double Corypheus threat seems to be mostly fucking around the whole time except where they create the red lyrium dagger and besiege Weisshaupt, and they don't appear to have planned very carefully for either, they just charged straight at the problem. Cory will forever be kind of a goober, but at least he tried.

>>501720472 >the Inquisitor stops giving a fuck and follows her god boyfriend into a comfy dream dimension It's incredible how only ONE VERSION of one of the main characters of the saga gets a happy ending. The Hero of Ferelden either dies in DA:O or due to the Calling, no matter who their lover is, because it's confirmed they don't find a cure. Hawke either dies in the Fade or see their city succumb to the Blight, and they might die while defending it. We'll never know, so we just have headcanons for them.
A non-solavellan Inquisitor has to deal with all the shit in the south, barely holding any power and influence even if they gave their organization to the Chantry, Skyhold a ruin of its former glorious self, knowing everything happened because they didn't recognize Solas for who he was.
But a Lavellan who romanced Solas? She gets her own ending with custom ending slide. She gets to abandon everything and finally stay with her lover, far from all political shit, the regret prison actually turning into a cozy home according to the writer, mending dreams and probably becoming immortal because elves are naturally tied to the Fade and she's now living in it. The devs KNEW the solavellan fans would have ripped them a new one if they didn't deliver this at least lol.

But yeah, a HoF with Morrigan was clearly the old devs' canon couple, just like a Lavellan with Solas is the new devs'. Romances with Very Important Characters always add more to the story, but it's also risky, because the devs need to implement more choices and stuff when creating them, and they could shoot themselves in the foot in the long run.

I especially didnt think Solas himself would get so little in-person content considering he's the literal one person in the world with the most knowledge, experience, etc to deal with the threat. Everybody seems to love his and Rook's dynamic but they get so little screen time together. I'd love more petty bickering between him and the gods myself.
Considering who and what the enemy was all the bits of lore regarding him and the other gods feel like a bunch good points connected to each other in loose and shitty ways. He and the Inquisitor both are resources that werent implemented well and are now wasted since their story has ended.

>>501722528 By the entirety of Veilguard, unfortunately. Antoine, Evka, and Davrin say time and time again how the Calling is the end for any Warden. Solas himself says he cannot cure the blight, but just soothe the Titans' anger. The Wardens are all ready for the song to start in their head sooner or later, there is no mention of a possible cure anywhere, no one mentions it, the Fifth Blight itself is barely mentioned in mementos and easter eggs (like the chalice recovered at Ostagar that you find in Weisshaupt's library).
Since they decided not to carry our choices across, they were pretty much forced to go with their canon, and it's clear this is what they had in mind: the Warden failing to find anything in the east - because if he did, why doesn't anyone know anything about it?

>>501723218 >the Warden failing to find anything in the east - because if he did, why doesn't anyone know anything about it? Fuck, the thing that makes me most mad is the fact that they gave us hints about a possible cure ever since that book with Fiona and Maric. She is cured from the blight when she gets possessed by a spirit, right? She's the only Warden in history who got free and you can talk about it with her in Inquisition if you save the mages. They must have had something in mind, especially Gaider, and Japlin was supposed to use the Keep, but now we will never know what.
The blight is caused by the severed dreams of the Titans: why does it affect people like a plague, then? Why can a spirit possessing a person free them from that affliction? Is it because they take the angry dreams within themself and carry them back to the Fade? The more I think about what we could have had the more I get angry.

>>501722959 >I especially didnt think Solas himself would get so little in-person content Heh, I knew it would be like that when they announced the new title. "Veilguard" isn't mentioned once in the entire game, but "Dreadwolf" would have been a red herring, because Solas is barely present in person in what was supposed to be his own game. You just see his regrets, talk with him three or four times, never fight him, and Rook pretty much decides everything while Dorian and the Inquisitor, the ones who would have the most to say about their old companion, stay silent.
>He and the Inquisitor both are resources that werent implemented well and are now wasted since their story has ended. They shot themselves in the foot when they decided to change characters once again. At the end of Inquisition, the Inquisitor has pretty much become the Shepard of Thedas: they are directly tied to the greatest menace the world has ever seen, their companions believe them and are ready to support them, they have the biggest chance of surviving because they know the enemy well etc.
Instead they decided to give us yet another new protagonist who never met Solas and whose sole reason for dealing with all of this is because Varric is out of commission (dead, but they don't know it yet), Solas is in their head, and they were hired for the job. There is no sense of urgency, of doom in the Lighthouse. Imagine if they made us play as a random merc instead of finishing the trilogy with Shepard in ME3.
This is why Solas and the Inquisitor are implemented like shit and the emotional catharsis didn't happen for everyone.

I also kinda wanted the Veil to come down though. For the sake of spirits but also because with magic back into the world I'd hope that the fear and misunderstanding of it that leads to the violence against mages would have a chance to heal after it becomes more commonplace. Thats where I was hoping the "working together for a better way" would come into play. My big worry of it being if the Fade comes back into the world would it bring back immortality, because I think the functional immortality bolsters the accumulation of power. >>501732295 Solas wanted to bring the Veil down but that was only part of his whole plan. He had to deal with the fallout and deal with the Evanuris' weakening prison. Maybe the dragons are part of what helped them resist the blight for so long. As he said he doesnt want people to suffer.
The veil is one thing but I assumed the prison is another. He would need a way to remove the veil while keeping the prison intact since thats where the blighted Evanuris are, unless he planned to unleash the blight and deal with it somehow. i think western gaming will never be as good as a couple gens ago since current western academia follows the post-modern notion that language dictates reality, straying away from materialism and delving into idealism, considering the commodified education we have that only guides individuals to attend market demands, such idealism becomes fragmented and vulgar, those individuals dont understand the systems they live in and how they connect into society as a whole, their perception of the world becomes individualised and they judge themselves and each other on superficial moral values. why think all this for a fucking post? to find a sensible explanation of how modern writers dont know how to make imersive fantasy since they dont understand art can be separated from the material world, being unable to exercise their artistic freedom because they think their words reflect on reality, maybe thats why the writers used modern terms to add gender discourse into the game instead of making diegetic(aka in-universe) terms. i find it a missguided atempt to use capitalism to lecture consumers on current day issues, if they put more effort to add gender discourse in a immersive way it would not only be more effective, it would age better since language can always change on current day topics, also using someone boorish as Taash only makes it look condescending

Now writers are concerned with being as explicit as possible, both for fear that they will be misunderstood in the eyes of the general public by ridiculing them, and because there is great distrust in others and everything must be presented in the most explicit, less confusing way possible.
When writers begin to have personal experiences worthy of being put on paper, and when the public begins to be less critical for the sake of giving instant opinions on first impressions, we will have better media.
For now the question is simply this.

>>501741296 >it's not clear I'm sorry, anon, but Solas definitely killed Felassan, all because he refused to give him the passcode for the eluvian network. Solas was already awake (The Masked Empire should be set six months before Inquisition, and Solas tells the Inquisitor he woke up one year before the events of the game) and waited for Felassan to complete his mission and give him the code. When he didn't, he killed him in his sleep, something a powerful Dreamer like Solas can easily do.
Felassan basically went through what Solas later will in Inquisition: live in the new world, make friends, witness the modern elves' tenacity and realize everyone is actually a person, even though they are severed from the Fade. That's why one of the revenants you fight in Veilguard is called "Betrayal of Felassan": not because Felassan betrayed Solas, but the opposite. Solas realized he had betrayed his friend for nothing, because he was actually right.
>"His back, turned." He even killed him from behind - he was ruthless before Inquisition. But keep in mind that this version of Solas was still very rough, and Gaider had not asked Weekes to make him kinder yet. That's why all the stories about the Dread Wolf that Felassan and Briala share paint him under a very wicked light, while he's definitely more sympathetic and gentler as a character in Inquisition.

Neve says that the Shadow Dragons can handle the situation
Lucanis begs to go to Treviso because apparently the Crows are useless
Help Treviso, Minrathous is destroyed
somehow Neve is battle hardened and rejects my advances
while with Lucanis, who is the reason why I went to Treviso instead of Minrathous, she is super expansive flirty and they are best friends without ever having met
I spent 80euros to be cucked in a game by a pajeeta

>>501742186 It's implied he was extremely weak after his ritual to create the Veil went wrong. He entered uthenera, and had to watch the world change and evolve through the Fade, but we don't even know if there was a time during which he was just completely unconscious, not even dreaming/exploring the Fade. It's not impossible, since the first ritual clearly took everything out of him, so much he was forced to look for another way to open his own foci. That would explain why it took him so long to actually do something - he probably also had to find and reawaken the majority of his agents, Felassan included (and you can find Felassan's note in the Lighthouse, wondering what the hell happened and where Solas is)
Anonymous
>>501742805 Davrin and Emmrich are said to be the better romances, its very funny.
Anonymous
>>501742410 > I don't get why you're so hung up on this point It makes me wonder what he did in the fade while napping for thousands of years and how does that work. Uthenera elves are supposed to explore the fade and acquire knowledge so that implies some degree of self consciousness. Was he oblivious of the veil while in the fade, or did he knew? What made him wake up at that exact point in the timeline?

Quoted By:
>>501743027 I don't think he could be oblivious because he clearly knew the ritual went wrong. Maybe unaware of the details of the direct aftermath but he surely would have learned while dreaming and exploring the Fade afterwards. I guess he woke up when he did because he had regained enough power to? Maybe it had something to do with the dagger being discovered.

I dunno what to do with myself now. I kind of want to replay it again immediately. I need to get the achievements I missed due to the bug and try to get 100% of the codex filled out but I know it's too soon and I'll have a better experience replaying after I reflect more.

I also prefer ME2 because it's character study vignettes rather than a space opera. Space operas are good such as the TV show ME sprung from (babylon 5) but they require very tight writing and an auteur's vision which is hard in the video game industry
