>>500982078I actually do gestures and have done so for roughly a year now. Every day, I do at least 15 minutes of gesture drawing.
Anatomy, I studied a while back, but it's been quite some time now and I probably have forgotten a lot of things I knew at the time. I read through Bridgman, Force, and things like that, but some concepts, I struggled to have stick in my mind.
Though specifically about proportions, I have been trying to make my characters look larger, but you're right, as that is a pretty bad habit of mine. I was used to doing the 3 heads tall figures for so long, kind of struggled with larger ones. I go for around 6 heads now.
At one point, I was aiming to do characters that looked somewhat like Dark Awake, who, for lack of a better comparison, looked sort of like action figures or miniatures. Most of them look like they're 5 heads tall or possibly even less with characters like Orc. For example, Winifred is actually directly based on Sandra, which is why she has the left handed sword, for example.
But yeah, you make a good point. I've been very caught up in other things like working on programming and such for a while, to the point where I haven't been focusing as much on actively learning about art things. I had a teacher for a while, but he got busy and I've been on my own for the past few months, so not as actively studying as I was at that point.
