This is Wizardry, not Nintendo. There are statues you have to find in a level that will let you teleport back to town or to any other statue in the Abyss. There are also shortcuts to find that will make traversing the dungeons faster.

I beat the trilogy, It doesn't have the polish that Daphne does (your characters are literally just names for example, not even a png) and the difficulty is way more bullshit but there is charm in the atmosphere and bgm. The dungeon designs are more complex then Daphne and so is character building. One of the things I really liked was being able to transfer your party between games in the trilogy, made your names more memorable. Dungeon diving is way more tense since it's way easier for a TPK to happen at any time.
If you have any interest in how wizardry started I'd recommend at least checking them out but if you just want good dungeon crawlers there's better ones out there with more QoL

Yeah that was the beauty of PC games, you could transfer saves from one game to another easily because they were all JUST THERE. Something you didn't have until the advent of memory cards on the playstation. Unless you count janky custom hardware like Sonic and Knuckles.

Of course that's been largely replaced with DLC expansions, since the whole reason PC games even had sequels instead of DLC was the lack of digital distribution networks and capable internet speeds at the time.

I need to ask.
Is running the den of earth even worth it to farm earth equipment?
I've amassed over 1000 lesser ores and around 50 of the high grade ones and so far I've only found two (2!) elemental junks, and one of them turned into a fucking 1* 2h hammer.
I'm starting to consider either buying the ten pack, but I know I'll just get ten 2h hammers from it. Really sours my opinion on the game, since the shitty drop rate is obviously there to make me spend money.

600 gems is a lot of gems for junk. Maybe just get the daily armor piece.

Personally I put together a full wind team to farm it, was making probably about 5-8 junk per hour. You don't need to unify it.

I actually have a theory that the den spawns with X number of junk drops scattered between enemies and chests. Rushing the boss for hours got me almost no junk, but doing full clears including killing everything and opening all chests got me at least one piece per run.

every point of extra damage gets doubled, another chance for surety to proc and there isn't enough high defense enemies to punish the weaker hits, and the few that exist can be dealt with via armor break or badios

Defense doesn't matter you use armor break (and even then you can just heavy attack anything that's not a boss because they don't have enough HP to justify the setup)

Buffs/debuffs are generally a lot more useful, even essential, in some of those old-ass stupid fuck of RPGs. Wizardry, Megaten, etc.

Stick with BALAFEOS from your mage, and... I can't stress this enough, pack a ton of scrolls and potions. Exactly how much depends on a number of things, so you might need to experiment, but I only won my first fight with the level 20 grade up boss because I pulled multiple Scroll of Fireballs out of my ass.

I don't like how the hand of reversal's needs the circle to be in the center to be perfect.
That goes against most rhythm games I've played. Take Osu! for example, where tapping as soon as both the approaching circle and the hit circle overlap.
Even Idolm@ster does it similar, tap when things overlap for perfect.
But Wizardry had to be different just to trigger me. Honestly, whoever came up with that idea on Wizardry oh "perfect is in the middle of the circle" should be shot for a crime against humanity.

The problem is that you are comparing it to rhythm games when that's not what it's like, you should be comparing it to traditional timing QTEs where the perfect is right next to failure. I can't think of any good example off the top of my head, but I'm sure you've played games with say, a power bar where the perfect timing is at the end and then overflows into failure.

We don't have numbers or the % of the resistance effect, but I doubt it'd be significant.
Also, you can't increase an item's quality, so the Helmet will always have low rolls unless you perform refinement.
But then, why waste your stones on a Helmet like that instead of another one of higher tier?

Yeah I even tried leaping back to the "Warding Against Water" point and immediately doing the quest after meeting the sea freighter agent and I still didnt get it
I did all the correct choices in my actual first run (minus breaking through the gatekeepers) and I got the SPD lantern, maybe the devs fucked up and the game accidentally flagged my account as having gotten the lantern but not actually giving me the LUC lantern. goddamn it.

You have to shove the 4 crystals first (I think I bricked myself and can't do this anymore due to using Cursed Wheel outside and inside of the event at various times) and then any of the earth elementals on any of the floors will drop shards. They should respawn after you leave the dungeon and you can just do the same one over and over for 4 shards

you'll need to go through that again. my condolences. you can jump at arena part though. you can use cursed wheel to set the flag so you dont need to do the sidequest for weakening them again. works on arena 1/2/4/5. arena round 3 has different enemy for each route, so you need to die once, or kill once on church's route.

They do, Adam is better early because he lowers the MP cost but other mages need a while to get to a comfortable MP pool. Here's an important tip though, they are debuffers and Sleep is OP as fuck.
You KATINO an entire row for 4 MP and they don't act and the next physical attack deals double damage to them, compared to spending MP on single target spells it's infinitely better.

I've come to appreciate how they've managed to make portraits look as good as they are back in 1990 with what they've had. Couldn't really make this one from scratch by hand, I had to scale screenshot, readjust color mode with various dithering methods and add some finishing touches by hand, and I still think it could be done way better. Maybe I just suck though. Hope I'll be able to play through Wiz6 (and then continue throughout the trilogy) with my Daphne party SOON(tm).

What passives are you talking about?
All characters have one unique passive, one Discipline lvl passive, and the rest are class based, aren't they?
I'm using a team of 4*'s and haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary.

None of the fighters are bad, they all have pretty good passives (except Elda)
Elise and Gandolfo are probably the best ones but not by a significant margin. We won't know for sure until someone crunches the numbers to determine how strong these type passives are (and then we need content that makes good use of it like a flying raid boss)

Another anon did the work worth of a PhD and found the damage formula.
It's just ATK minus DEF, heavy strikes are effective even on slimes because it's basically high percent increase in ATK.
Add the Elemental Advantage percent modifier to that? Much higher damage.

Sleep seems to be more reliable against demihumans (likely low RES). Against sahuagin it seems to hit around 95% of the time for me and often lasts 2 turns (goblins seem to wake up earlier).
Each slept enemy means the enemy team gets one less action and lets you burst down the remaining enemies that aren't asleep. Enemies staying slept until its time for you to hit them is just a nice bonus

I procced two openings but still had probably 2k health left to go. There was a third opening but it didn't seem to get as heavy of a damage bonus. The frontline could do nothing but defend (otherwise he could one tap them instead of two tapping) and if he cast Macones then my mage turned into chunky salsa.

Remember to reroll your entire account every time one of your stats doesn't increase during level up since that's a point LOST, not put in a wrong place but completely LOST and that's horrible.

Openings weren't proccing the huge damage bonus after having done so twice, so somebody had to be dealing damage. It really just left myself (training thief) and Adam since Galina had to get people out of oneshot territory.
I'm sure the whole thing would've been more manageable if I had done the bronze exam, however I wasn't expecting a sidequest fight to be that far above NG+ Helmut

I believe towards the end of B7F you get checked and Albano turns into a beast if he doesn't have the quest done. I wouldn't enter B7F at all, really, but I think you can probably chance steppingin it to grind the undead wave quest.

Well I had already won when I made that first post, so no point benching him now. Also while precision shot worked great on openings, heavy attack was also working. It's just that after doing it twice it seems the damage multiplier dropped from 20x to 1.5x

Actually locked room might be a bit vague given B4 is covered in locked doors.
For me there was one outside the door to that room that locks you inside with like five sets of enemies and then two were inside. There were no enemies when I picked up the wings, but I had already cleared out the trap on another run

It really doesn't take long to get someone high level, I got alice and yekaterina to 45 within like a day. You just need to be near 50 already to do it, and there's no good reason to be 50.
In truth, we're about to hit a wall in that the event isn't that engaging and the 'endgame' is doing the 2nd dungeon 5 times.
