I don't want the game to have very long combos on every hit. As such, only one character has ground bounce and there is a cost attached to it.
Amina has to use her cursed sword, the Ida of Eshu, to get a ground bounce, but she risks hurting herself in the process. So there's a natural limiter on it in the form of that RNG blade lowering her health, spell reserve, or protection gauge with each swing.
The only character with wall splat (really, just wall bounce) is Fatima. Her horse Leila strikes you with her hind legs, then smashes your body against the wall, allowing her to go for a special corner combo. The limiter is the fact that the horse needs to eat before you can do this and if you run out of feed, then she can't use her cavalier's arts anymore. You have to restore this with meter usage, as well, so you're trading away other useful tools to do this. (Supers in this game are not just for damage, there are also many utility moves)
If every character could do these things, I feel like it would be less unique or interesting, And if they were free to perform with no cost, I feel like that would also make them less interesting since nothing was really sacrificed. Especially with Amina since she can do it anywhere on the screen and not just in the corner.
Air combos are a thing, but they're generally much shorter than ground combos. Most characters have the universal Arcane Progression route of j.A B D for a soft knockdown and j.A B C > Air Special for more damage, but no knockdown state, thus you're putting things back into a neutral state.
If you wish to extend air combos, you need to use Extra Roll to put the opponent into a capture state, land, then either repeat what you already did or, if they're close to the ground from a move that spikes, then continue the combo in the form of a ground route since they were affected by a restand.
Even with a restand, that combo is probably just 10 hits maximum with full resources.
