dont worry, now next update you get to grind a fatter flanker with no HMD and less missiles just to get a functional radar to use your R-27ERs with.

while at the same BR the F-15E/C will have eight AMRAAMs, much better flight performance, better avionics, more countermeasures, and some of the best radars at top tier. And in the case of the E, fictional HMD that was designator only and couldnt slave missiles (thats the F-15EX)

So I'm really new to jets in war thunder, I went from like 3.7 jsdf air (And basically never playing them) to the F5 squadron unlock and I'm trying to figure it out, is it normal for me to be doing most of my enemy spotting via purely visual? As in even with my radar set up it seems like its still way easier to just look for some black pixels on the horizon.

f5 11.3 is god awful BR to learn or play
Everyone spam you with radar missiles especially those f-4s so you have to bring a lot of chaffs,
And they are way faster than you so you can't chase anyone down either
Keep low and out of sight and get into knife fight in the furball with your IR missile and guns
Your fancy dogfight maneubility mean nothing when a third party can shoot you with radar lock all aspect missiles while you are furballing
You can't 1v1 that well cause your opponent can just run away
It's like playing zero, you just have to catch people in lower energy state so they can't just run away from you
But thank god a lot of people buy their way into f4s during the sale so they will do a head on then turn fight with you after they spend their missiles so take that chance to guns them down
Hey at least your missile is good unlike f-5c's

"Adding a fuel slider" was unironically something they put on the roadmap.
A feature that can be implemented in less than 5 minutes by an intern (most of the time would be spent on finding out where the fucking code is) was a feature big enough to be put on the roadmap.

I did my apprenticeship at a medium-sized software dev company (home office), and we could work whenever we wanted (except for daily standups, which were a mandatory 10-60 minutes of talking via mattermost) and got paid by the hour.
We had to track our hours ourselves on a website with notes, e.g.

>Text: Fixed a bug that made penetrating Russian tanks possible.
>Duration: 90 minutes
These hours are tallied by the end of the month.

And during my apprenticeship I abused the FUCK out of that system.
I spent 10 minutes coding and 50 minutes masturbating to loli doujins on exhentai, and tracked it as 60 minutes.
As in, I was doing extremely easy and mundane things that no one bothered to double-check how long it took, and I kept getting praises because I fixed like 10 different "bugs" in a day which were super-easy to fix to begin with.

I think that's what is happening here.
People assigned to the War Thunder project are being paid for being extremely lazy.
The guy who worked on the "Adding a fuel slider" roadmap goal probably tracked it as 2-4 hours of work or something.

The bug had to do with the drop-down menu interacting with the fuel slider, which would probably require 1 line of code for fixing.
It just further proves how fucking lazy they are, the guy responsible for the fuel slider was probably relieved that he could spend more hours doing nothing since his sloppy work created more easy work.

I'd recommend getting it, it's a good plane, it's great for Ground RB and in Air RB you get an airspawn, plus it's incredibly fast and has 1200 rounds of 20mm ammo so you can start off matches by bomber hunting then just boom and zoom down on any enemies, no one will be able to catch you unless you try turnfighting.

I've been using all of the sounds mods throughout the history of the game. Starting with the likes of Boris' Sound Mod.
Right now I've settled for RCSM. It's fucking great. Though I mostly play tanks (tank game), and the creator said he wants to update the air sounds next, while everything is on the backburner awaiting the update.
I cannot fucking stomach vanilla sounds anymore.

1. Sight will not stabilise on terrain beyond 20km, it will stabilise beyond 20km when third person but you can't see anything at this range or place your marker precisely like this
2. When you stabilise the sight as soon as it hits 20km, you're now in the pantsir hurtzone. By the time you get to drop and you're pulling away you're about 16km away from the pantsir and if he has pre-fired you are going to die, even if you turn around and try to fly away you're so sluggish at that alt that it is incredibly hard to avoid the missile.
3. Paveway 3 is meant to be dropped with laser off and laser enabled when within 4km to guide onto the target. When you do this in the game it misses very often and doesn't appear to start trying to go for the laser until about a second before it impacts the ground and basically always falls short.

Every other SAM is easy to deal with but the 20km range on the pantsir just makes this unbearable.

The problem with this is you can't drop bombs over mach 1 so you need to be flying fairly slow and the pantsir radar will have you picked up before you move up to drop bombs so once again you're entirely at the mercy of the pantsir not paying attention or you're going to get creamed.

Talk me out of the Apache. I have a talisman on the YAH-64 from before EC was added but I find it simply useless for grinding - PvE pays so little it might as well not exist so the only viable option left is one-death leaving in A2A first-spawn helis, which the YAH-64 simply can't do while the AH-64A can with its 4 shitingers and 2 9Ls.

The darts are generally better yes. The ATGM has much more pen unless you hit ERA and the travel time can cause problems.

99% they are in the cache like gaijin skins, so go to wt directory\cache\content and they are one of the randomly named ddsx files in there
easiest way to find a specific one you're looking for is just delete/move your cache, then go look at whatever skin/decal you're interested in ingame to redownload it, and then grab whatever ddsx it just downloaded from the cache folder
then you run ddsx_unpack sdhjkhfkj.ddsx from wt-tools to turn it into a normal .dds, but
1. it'll probably output a kinda broken file wtih fucked up headers, but GIMP is usually able to open it and then you can resave it as an unfucked file of your choice
2. you'll need to acquire))) the special proprietary texture compression dll for ddsx_unpack to work and drop it next to ddsx_unpack.exe, I don't remember where you can find it but here's mine that works on my rig if you don't already have it: files catbox.moe/a6vb0s.dll
if you don't already have wt-tools, this is the most up to date fork afaik: github com/kotiq/blk
note that the pre-built exes in releases are old, but they still work for most files if you don't want to deal with python

It's bizarre because giant maps is exactly what you want for sim, so far I've enjoyed WWII most consistently just because the maps actually allow for manoeuvre and long range fights that aren't just 'whoever clicks first wins'. And a lot of the time in the higher BR sim battles your sights don't align with your gun properly half the time because you're in a tank designed to be engaging targets from several kilometres away being forced to fight at 100-200m which is extremely annoying.

On a semi-related note, that's actually a major thing that South Korea's government actively overlooks because a lot of its economic and military leadership had Japanese education and accepted a lot of Japanese technical and financial aid to pay for infrastructure development projects. They overlook it because it's not only bad for obvious nationalist reasons, but also it directly undermines any attempt to stir up anti-Japanese resentment when ratings are low because it implies that reparations meant for Korean labourers was fully delivered when relations were normalized.

That's the thing though. Japan offered to directly pay each victim and the Korean gov said "nah give us all the money and we will pay them ourselves", then proceeded to embezzle it all, give none of the money to the victims.
