Watched the taash scene from last thread and ohhhh for a nonbinary writer they completely butchered it. “If they say they’re sorry and move on they might not REALLY be sorry but if they apologize too much they make it about themselves but if I do push-ups it reminds me to not be a dick about it?” Come the fuck on, the best way to respond to misgendering is correcting yourself and moving the fuck on and trying not to say the wrong thing going forward I have nonbinary friends, I’ve even been misgendered due to my hair, but this is absurd, it’s stopping the story to talk down to the player

I'm legitimately disappointed in most of what we've seen so far. The dialogue is cringe, Taash is just a political mouthpiece, you can't express any type of character other than patting them on the back, and the reviews that criticized it as bioware's avengers seems to be true.

As a long time bioware fan from the kotor1, da1, bg1, nwn1, etc days, I'm so sad. I held the faith even through me4 and da3 because they still had fun aspects despite the flaws and I think they're both better than people like to say, but even the things I liked about those games are gone if these da4 leaks are to be believed and are actually indicative of the predominant tone of the game.

I don't play these games to sit around patting someone on the back because they told me about their genitals. Frankly, I don't care either way about your genitals. It's just not interesting to me, so I'm not going to play a videogame to hear more about it. You can set up a character as a mouthpiece for your real life genital troubles all you want, it doesn't make you a good writer. In fact it's the opposite more often than not.

I feel weary. These leaks have aged me. I'm tired of the industry being this way. I yearn for the days when enthusiastic nerds are back in charge of videogames, and not corporate mandated politics. Even including politics doesn't have to be a bad thing, games and all art can be political, but when you're forced to smile and pat them on the back with no options, it becomes a movie rather than an engaging videogame. There's no challenge or choice, you are following the director's instructions.

I feel like a fool, but I'm going to give them ANOTHER chance, on the off chance that we've just seen the worst of it today, and the rest of the game is a fantasy romp about swinging your sword to kill dragons. The stuff people are here for. Some day, when the dark ages are over, videogames about the author's self insert's genitals won't be the norm anymore and we can go back to the fun stuff.

I preordered the game on Steam and bought the Rook's Coffer. I still want to play it but I just wish I could skip everything having to do with the companions and just skip to the parts I care about like how you could in Inquisition. I'm planning on at least leaving a bad review on Steam. The clips I've seen are too egregious.

We only have short clips but so far she’s not nearly as complex as Dorian. Nowhere near as embarrassing at all the people who are obsessing over it.
The annoying thing about these scenes aren't that they are cringe or ham-fisted, it's that they take away from any and all discussions about the game.
We're less than 24 hours from the game and the only thing people (who have no intention of buying the game) are interested in are the same things that have been talked to death.
I'd rather have every single scene in the game be that cringe if it meant there was room for actual discussion about the game, rather than obsessively hyper focusing on 2-3 scenes in it.

As a youngin I was always like Morrigan, just all "haha, what an imbecile getting tricked by the fade" because I didnt really get it then. The way its presented to the player is such a very obvious "this is a trick" type deal, that I never really respected the companions fade trickeries. Being the dolt that he is, he completely buys into the fade fantasy. His fantasy is simply his sister, nieces, and nephews. No big dramatic ma and pa he never had. Just simple family. Just family that cared about him, and family for him to care about. Thats it. I found it hard not to feel bad for him earlier today going through the fade, and him exlaiming that "This is the happiest he's(I've) ever been!"
I feel like Alistar really goes beyond basic. Its not hard to make some random orphan character, but I feel like Alistar is... thoroughly explored in his charater. I love him, and could talkcabout him for days but I'll stop there.

I doubt they wanted this game to be a sendoff for the series so they'll obviously leave the door open for possible DA5. Looks like Harding or the Nog always dies but you can pick. There's sort of a pick between Neve and autistic Asian elf (weird how the two sudden minority elves which didn't exist before this game have easy to trigger deaths) but if they're "heroes of the veilguard" (read: loyal from ME2) and provided you do other things right they'll live in the end (though you won't know that until the end). Everything else is assigning team members but the guide doesn't specify how people might die if you assign them wrong, so I don't know how to kill specific characters.

They probably were planning to let you choose in DA:I to play as Warden, Hawke or new Inquisitor protagonist but it was too much effort so instead they just made Inquisitor and allowed you to customize Hawke 20 minutes cameo.

This is garbage sliders, worse than Inquisition, same as Elder Scrolls Online, a game from 2014.

Alright, so... Ive officially clocked 100mins. I got to the point right after fighting the fortified construct and solving the 2 stone "puzzle" where you gotta use one to open this to use the ballista to get the secend then put both back in the go-forward door.

My least favorite thing about the game is the dialog. The most interesting line so far has been

and it was only interesting in how bad it was with just being super-meta-commentary.
What I like most is the combat. I rolled a S&B warden & selected Adventurer difficulty, and the whole LA>LA>HA and send them flying is cool. The perfect guard is a bit too rewarding IMO. Like, its a huge window, and then give you a stun that lasts all day if you land it. I got a sningle level up during my time playing, and chose some perfect guard stuff, and a passive that lets me do a jump atk with auto crits on knocked down enemies. Thought it would be nice to combo with the LA>LA>HA combo, but jumping mud combo doesnt work (at all) so you have to wait to reset to neutral, then jump and atk after doing the knockdown combo.

So far each enemy has only 2 atks, and IDK if thats going to get better or not because of how early I still am in the game. On adventurer, the enemies dont feel too spongy, but the fortified construct was an easy example of why I could see turning up the difficulty would make it worse. Same 2 atks as a normal construct but took longer to kill so the whole fight was just whatever.

IDK if I want to just call it quits and get my money back, or keep going to at least afford myself the full experience to have a completely informed opinion of it...
I stared my time really going for it and trying to experience it how it was intended, but halfway through I just started rushing because I wanted to see more than the first visit to the lighthouse. I even hurried through CC to spend more time playing. Still dont feel like Ive demo'd it.
