Some important changelog and tips:
- Motion Tracker has been turned to Enhanced, to combat against players camping. This makes players who are motionless or moving while crouching still show up on radar. So be aware: if you hide around a corner with an energy sword waiting for enemies, and find it harder to exercise that strategy, this is why
- On Spire Banshee map, there is a soft kill boundry near the floor of the map, and a hard kill boundary on map floor. This is meant to keep players in the air. Just a heads up so you don't die trying to land. Similarly, Hobble Creek (an MLG forge map) has walls around the map created from rocks. It's easy to climb these rocks, but they are lined with aggressive kill boxes: so I'd recommend not to try parkour along the edges

People are saying H2A multiplayer is bad. Well I’ll take that multiplayer over 4,5 or Infinite any day. It’s actual classic Halo gameplay. The only problem is the 343 styled graphics are pretty ugly and the map selection isn’t very good.

I really want to try H2A BTB. Halo 4's base controls are pretty tight/fun, it's just that sprint/armor stuff needs to go. And dual-wielding just makes everything more fun. There's some surprisingly nice variety in the H2A sandbox. There's even Gungeese. But I can only find BTB matches in 3, Reach, 4, and very rarely 2 Classic, but I hate 2's classic BTB because vehicles are too strong. Once the first team wins that first vehicle exchange and kills your scorpion/wraith, it's over. They'll just steal your vehicles unchallenged and spawnkill you the rest of the match. All the other games let you have a fighting chance even if you're losing.

it's yet another failed chapter in Halo's Neverending saga of trying to make a successful AOE damage weapon.
They've been successful twice, with the power drain in H3 and, ironically, H5's splinter grenade.
Every other attempt, from the fireworks all the way up through infinite's fusion coils and ravenger, haven't worked.

As someone that's has tried for years to get /hg/ to play H2A, the biggest problem with it isn't the visuals, lack of dev made content, or "how it feels", but rather the technical hiccups. The game is EXTREMELY picky about player connection. You basically need everyone to be on the same continent, all using the same machine, and all with open NAT connection. and even then it might still just randomly boot people when a grenade goes off, or other times certain settings won't load as you've set them to.

As a rule, dev teams should pretty much never let the community tell them what to do. Fan is short for Fanatic. It's fine to keep your finger in the air to get a feel for how the wind is changing and know what people are upset with and want, but you need to know that people are immature and overreact very often.

OG Xbones are pretty outdated at this point. A good percentage of them have longterm overheating and PSU problems. Fat Spider-Station 3's have a similar problem for example.

I guess some kind of explanation is in order. That is the Endless, a new ancient evil revealed near the end of the first Halo Infinite single player campaign titled "Become". How is it? Can you record the match and share some clips? You can do it in theater mode and turn off the names/UI first if you want to stay anonymous. I want to see how the vehicle combat is. If it's any good I'll jump on and look for a match myself. Classic's vehicles are too strong, but from what I remember walking around the maps by myself, H2A's vehicles felt similar to Halo 4, so it felt like it would give infantry a fighting chanced unlike classic. I really want to try a Heavies mode for this game but I'm sure the best I can actually hope for is regular BTB.

Vehicles are fine. The warthog hits hard, but can easily be dispatched. Only issue I've seen so far is the banshee on Ascension's remake, but it's easy to avoid. Just try it for yourself.

I should remind everyone that a Warthog will be destroyed after only 2 Plasma/Spike Grenade sticks in Halo 3. Stick it once, find cover, then stick it again when the opportunity arises. Brute Shots are incredibly useful against them as well. The Gauss Warthog is the one that's genuinely overpowered because anyone with half a brain can one shot you, but that's why it hardly ever shows up.

I wish I could relay this information to my team sometimes. Sometimes you can even get a lucky stick and kill the driver or knock the vehicle off balance which makes it easier to focus them but it's like warthogs become invisible to my team. Banshees too. Banshees are such an easy target to teamfire but no one seems to care lol, they just let them get free bomb and splatter kills over and over.

Couldn't you just play on legendary? The tankier enemies make it more important to use plasma on shields and bullets on unshielded. Tilt might be better for the easier difficulty modes where nebwies tend to just use the same weapon. On legendary you spend more ammo trying to kill stuff so by default you already know to use the weapon sandbox appropriately.

Always get a Plasma Rifle and headshot weapon ready when Tilt is on. It's bad, but I'll take it over Blackeye, the only skull I would not force people to use for LASO achievements because it utterly ruins Halo's combat triangle by forcing you to play a weird and unfun defensive/melee playstyle that doesn't even work against tougher enemies. Speaking of Skulls... Instead of restarting the entire level when you die while Iron is active, I'd set the player back 2 checkpoints upon death instead. Make it less of a ridiculous cheese grind, but still very punishing.

I'd even go so far as to alter the LASO achievements to be activating a certain number of difficulty modifier skulls, allowing you to disable Black Eye and Iron, but it obviously it would replace those two with other challenges that are less completely miserable or time wasting.

And on the topic of achievements: Achievements that require you to use glitches are just sinful. Like beating the games in 3 hours each.

yeah, any coatings I get are incidental, which is why I have next to no weapon/vehicle coatings. mostly just got a few of the passes, some of the ultimate weeklies as they came, handfuls off the exchange, and then bits and pieces like the Critpoint Shroud for Pistol and OG Muzzle for BR, UA/Sacrifice for Raksasha for the ODST flair, or the MkV Chief suit. 2. Retarded take. If anything, the beam rifle should be buffed to compensate. I wouldn't be against a new weapon that is a sniper rifle that is good against infantry but shit against vehicles. The anti-materiel rifle should stay, especially on vehicle heavy maps.

I would go back to Halo 3 and start from there to determine what should be added to the sandbox or removed or rebalanced. The Sniper was fine there. The Spartan Laser was a bit much, but maybe they could replace it with a vehicle-killing railgun so it doesn't feel like a hitscan weapon. Or even a buffed Infinite Skewer would do.

I would also slightly buff all the dual-wieldable weapons while they're in single mode and maybe not limit them to being close quarters. So maybe you could add the hydra back and make it dual-wieldable but reduce the magazine size or some other nerf but keep it's lock on feature. And then give the magnum back its scope when you're only holding one. Maybe nerf the BR very slightly so it's not the go-to weapon in every scenario.

And make the Halo 3 Needler dual-wieldable too because it sucks. Why is it so shitty in Halo 3, it can barely even track targets. Useless gun.

Buff dual wielding weapons to 90% damage instead of Halo 3's 75%. Increase spray and recoil as well.
Nerfing the BR is a given.

Bring Reach's Grenade Launcher as is. Decent anti-vehicular option and humiliation weapon against infantry. Area of effect EMP is great against Banshees.
Bring in Reach's falcon too. It's a cool vehicle but hard to use with randoms.

I would even buff the physics from the spikes. Like its niche could be used for slowing enemies a bit as they're trying to close the gap on you. So if you notice a shotgun user it could help with keeping him away as you try to back off. It's such a cool weapon, but it feels like it gets treated like a discount plasma rifle. Those spikes should be messing you up when you get hit by them.

Had sort of an epiphany re: what I can do with these custom game scripting tools.
Which sounds most fun?

- Infection: Spartan Defenders against Elite attackers. In other words: you can use these tools to make an infection gametype where killed Spartan players become Elites. With custom forged maps, you could lean into the roleplay aspect of this: make it more about Spartans against a growing force of Covies, than a zombie survival thing.

- Asymmetrical Spartans vs. Elites slayer, or some other objective based gametype: You could make Red Team be Spartans and Blue Team be Elites. So, for example, on a symmetrical map, you could make the Spartan spawn be full of human weapons, and the Elites spawn be full of Covie weapons. The trick would be in properly balancing the sandbox, it would need to achieve "balanced asymmetry", but you could do Spartan vs. Elites team slayer or CTF, etc.

Spartans and Elites were differed in Reach for Invasion, they weren't really ever designed for symmetrical modes.
I think an Elite VIP/Juggernaut or something like Doom 2016's demon rune would be fun. To make being an Elite scary for other players.

So you can't really do anything where a single player is an Elite - except for Infection, where the starting zombie will be their team's respective player race.
Although there might be a workaround I haven't considered.

Re-the symmetry thing, I think it might not actually be too difficult Spartans vs. Elites for symmetrical gametypes.
There was a Bungie dev blog a long time ago about their philosophy of "balanced asymmetry", esp. for map design. A Kilogram of Steel vs. a Kilogram of Feathers.
Would take some work, but that's what I'm here for

There's creative ways around it, look at what Chess does. You could change any player holding Evade into an Elite, and treat the Evade pickup as a powerup.
I haven't tried anything with Elites specifically, but I biped swap the player with a Monitor to create a neutral host mode. The first player who joins the game will be turned into a monitor and placed far out of bounds so he can't affect the rest of the game.

This is what happens when you "innovate' your franchise too much. If you make such sweeping changes to the core systems, it's bound to attract new players that didn't play or like the originals. But now that these mechanics are officially in Halo, the new newer fans can safely claim 'Halo'. This is what splinters the fanbase. You see this especially with the Sonic franchise. (2D Classic vs 3D Adventure)
If they just stick with the original formula and only introduce minor stuff to keep things fresh, then we won't have this problem. You don't need to completely reinvent an already successful franchise. It's because 343 tried to reinvent Halo that we're in this mess. Part of the blame lies with Bungie for introducing sprint. In the end they started these advanced movement shenanigans. Maybe to spite Microsoft. It's like they put a curse on Halo right before they left.

You're retarded because there's already precidence of my request. Halo 2 had a perfectly good strafe, then they fucked up movement for 3 and continued fucking it up for every game since then. When Infinite came out, they overcorrected and got rid of player momentum entirely which has led to the shitty feeling this game has in 1v1 encounters.

Halo 3's movement is perfect for its sandbox. Halo 2 doesn't even have its original art style intact. And they already messed up the movement by making Elites as slow as Spartans. It's an incomplete Halo and has a lot more problems to worry about than movement. So we have to treat it as an early access Halo 3 and not use it as a basis for deciding what's Halo or not Halo. Halo 2 is Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Kaioken x20, but Halo 3 is Ultra Instinct Mastered. (Halo Reach is Super Saiyan 4)

It was washed out as shit and incredibly bland visually for its lighting too, relying a lot on baked lighting to give some sections its stronger punches. Blam/Slipstream and Forge just aren't built to handle dynamics, and good lighting is going to require some serious autism or more than what Forge can offer.
