This Swain mini rework is the worst balance disaster they've had in a while, he's worse in every way and he was not that strong to begin with. Top contender for the worst champion in the game, by far, now. Hilarious that they give him a skin right after they did this, I'm betting they were supposed to make him stronger to incentivize people to buy the skins, except now no one wants to play him since they fucked it up. Brand mid was at a 51% winrate with a 0.7% pickrate, compare that to something like say, Vex, with a 52.55% winrate with a much higher 4.1% winrate. He was only doing really well in botlane, like all the other mages are.

Speaking of, I just looked at 14.20 VS 14.21 Swain botlane stats (as APC, not support) and he was the #1 winrate APC botlane with a 53.91% winrate, and now he's #27 with a 48.56% winrate. Which is still way better than his support winrate, which sits in last place with a 44.85% winrate, and in midlane he's only above Tristana/Smolder at a 46% winrate. RIP Swain.

No it isn't, his best build right now is the Redemption build, which has a much better winrate than straight AP. Also you clearly had all winning lanes in that game, your example is discarded as anecdotal and not relevant.

Of course there's a reason. They want to enforce a tank meta and Gwen is an anti-tank, this is the same reason they gutted Brand. I have no idea WHY Riot is pushing for another tank meta, but they are. All the itemization and champion changes clearly are made with that goal in mind.

I guess it's Phreak's direction of raising TTK and slowing the pace of the game down. You already explained this to me that one time, don't worry - you don't have to repeat it.

In other news, though, I really think S15 will be yet another jungle rework. Red/blue-side imbalance seems to be a major theme in pro-play, high and low elo altogether. I assume they'll do some adjustments to the parts of the map they already changed with the other, "new" map rework they did last season (or was it this one? Splits make things really confusing). What if they made it so Grubs/Baron pit is on the opposing side it is now, so both teams have access to a major objective's pit more easily? I feel like that's one of the big imbalances.

All the others you listed have good escape tools while akshan does piss damage without using his offensively and it takes just a bodyblock to deny its defensive use. Trist starts off fairly short ranged but has good pushing power from level 1 and unlike akshan she doesn't need to commit her dash to do good damage, then proceeds to have good lategame.

Akshan basically doesn't exist in pro in general. Quick dive into GOL shows that after you filter out noname leagues like turkey/brazil academies he has been only played in LCS, 4 times by Darshan and 5 by Brokenblade. All in toplane. That is ALL since release, not counting people with 1 random akshan game.

We would've needed to be in a very earlygame oriented meta with akshan and/or his items being obscenely overpowered for him to appear in pro again and even then he'd be a toplaner first.

There's no real "right" choice to picking anything, but if you really wanna be meta about it, well, *in my opinion* bot lane is mostly about synergizing with your support than anything else. Avoid going AP bot if your support's playing an enchanter like Lulu or Yuumi or something - a engage/cc support to help you land spells would be ideal, but anything besides enchanters goes, really. Even then, though, again, there's no "right" choice. If you wanna play a mage botlane then just do it.

In plat/emerald (EUW) nobody even bothers pinging wards anymore or even clearing pinks if they walk over them - they just ignore them completely. I generally believe that it is hard to flop a Pantheon skin. That being said there are only two things about this skin that bug me:
1.) The pose. It just looks stiff to me. The way he's just holding out his shield like that and from this camera angle makes this look awkward. The pose should be more dynamic.
2.) The helmet. This would have been the perfect opportunity to bring back the glowing red eyes for this skin but instead we get a visorless helmet. Looks great otherwise.

What's the point of making a champs release skin a Legendary? We don't even know what the base version is like that well and they're immediately giving an alternate.
Like, with Seraphine at least you could say they knew full well it'd sell gangbusters cause they did the KDA stuff with it.

He has everything and he's absolutely insane at all he does while being absurdly safe. The only thing he doesn't really have is poke, but he has everything else.
You can't gank him, he has a whole screen wide dash with a shield attached on top of usually running exhaust. You can't engage on him because his counter engage is insane.
He's absurd in teamfight, really, his CC is uncounterable and instant and can be used both as disengage and engage, he CCs you for days and you can't even engage on him because, again, a billion screen dashes plus tankyness.
I always permaban this motherfucker when I'm on support, he's impossible to snowball against, he needs to literally int to die or to make his adc die. Makes no sense.

If the girl only wants a guy for their rank then they probably want to get boosted or something and typically those competitive type relations don't last because they can always find some other desperate duo if their current one even slightly doesn't do what they wanted or win all games. Hence why people tend to struggle to find friends, let alone gfs in league, that on top of other stuff like schedule, being in the same rank, role, synergy, patience/tolerance, etc. This is also why a lot of people here say you can pick up girls in iron to silver or arams and it's probably for the best because they're likely casual fun players and wouldn't go crazy hopping on every guy for the ranked ladder.

Probably not. I still enjoy playing him but the game is just so boring I've been picking up other games lately. After the skin reveal yesterday I think I'll just keep playing single players instead of grinding for 10 me for the 50th level reward because skins are inferior compared to what I have in my opinion anyways. I've lost my 83% ranked winrate on Qiyana.
Down to 75% now but both lost games went like exactly the same
Had a massive lead over my lane opponent while playing 1v2 against both them and the jungler and then they randomly get fed kills and I get caught out several times and then we lose
What are you supposed to do when your team will literally never move to any objective or even ward the jungle and I have to ping a thousand times as well as facecheck every bush
When they sit in one and I get cheesed the game is just over because my team will never try to do anything without me
And even if I play safe and don't get cheesed we lose to the 30 minute cloud soul anyways

Any thoughts? Would appreciate actual advice and not "lol you suck stop blaming your team just play better"

No this is actually the second one after a requeue the first was 10+ minutes. Splits did wonders for this game it seems. I think 4 or 5 splits a year will take care of things. Players love having their progress reset all the time don't they? What do you mean League isn't a roguelike?

We will see what's been worked on for the next season in December.
Ideally I'd like the mythic items back but without the restrictions in build aka the items adjusted to be less powerful but still have their actives, the one shotting of everything was insane back then but atleast it felt good and you could atleast carry the game by being ahead due to finishing the mythics creating a good powerspike, the current state is not satisfying and a bit too team reliant for me.

Also all they said was change the word "splits" to "seasons" and add champions per "season" aka like atleast 3 champs in a year (could also just be a rework and not a new champ) which again translates to them being lazy bastards. I think an event per season is also lazy, there's new years, valentines and easter in spring that's 3 events or themes but they want to put only 1? We'll see how they go about their content production. I don't trust these people.

There were already hints of them wanting to do a specific thematic for each split this year - the challenges specific to each split all gave different titles that were very "in theme" - I think it was Infernal for Split 2 and Voidborn for Split 1. I don't remember/know what the Split 3 title challenge reward is, but, yeah. It'll probably just follow a skinline or some random pulled-out-of-the-bag League lore concept, like a region-themed split, a new champion-themed split, yadda yadda yadda.

It's funny how almost all of these mini-reworks Riot has done have been complete failures.

Tahm Kench's rework changed nothing - he's still as viable in proplay as he always has, except now he's a low elo stat checker as well. If anything, it made him worse.

Rell's rework changed her proplay presence for the worse, too. It brought about a whole year of Rell jg meta in proplay and she remained just as oppressive in support all the same.

Absolutely noone complained about him then except for people who wanted the "old swain" where he could just press R and do nothing but walk around and drain, he eventually got tweaked and reworked enough times to get that drain aspect leading him to only become boring. When will League bother fixing the new player experience for new players? It's not even just the tutorial being outdated - I constantly get lv. 10-20 players in my team in normal games who just go like 1-10 every game and feel bad about it but can't do anything but keep doing it because they have no idea what all the champions they face off against do + they get placed against level 400/500/600 accounts constantly, too, and so forth. Does Riot really just not care about new players at all?

I always feel incredibly bad when I have to play against a low level/obviously new player and they just run around completely clueless and end up getting blamed and flamed by everyone. It's sad. :(

Well, you know what they say about you being the only constant and so on and so on. Just tank through the losers queue and keep doing your best. Also, do you think Zed jungle is viable at all? I've been trying to make it work for a while now but not being able to poke to just get enemies low enough for a one-shot or be able to reduce your W cd with the E poke really sucks. I'm also shocked at just how fast Zed runs out of energy, too.

On a semi-related sidenote, I think playing Zed really made me respect Zed players a whole lot more. It was the same when I tried out Irelia - I really can't believe people hate Zed & Irelia players so much with how much effort they have to put in to just be able to do a tenth of what champions like Jax or Veigar do. To some extent I think champions who are inherently harder to play and pick up should be allowed to be a little stronger than the "average" champions just to incentivize players to stop rabbitholing into brainless stat-checky champs.

what went up is stickiness, it's impossible to escape most of the popular champs in the game
time to kill is higher but there's no opportunity to escape when some pedophile champ is perma spamming movement speed buffs on himself, perma slowing you, stunning you and constantly dashing
it's not just "mobility" that's the problem either
it's specifically stickiness
so many of the popular champs rn are designed that if they do get in range you basically can't get away

Tank Swain genuinely is a snoozefest to play through because your only damage will be on the R and playing around it for the longest time possible which is bad because despite having a slow on a raylis due to so much mobility and sustain in this game to just walk out and deny that, on top of his R having such a huge cooldown now if you use it on a previous fight the gap in the next one may make you lose out on a baron or drake fight because you literally don't have anything going for you then.
There are even people comparing Swains incremental heal being underwhelming compared to the burst heals from Sylas so some are even vouching for Swain to have such a thing now to cope but literally the only healthy way to go about Swain drain is the initial rework gameplay where he is only rewarded a good chunk of healing if he manages to land his e or click on a cc'd enemy to pull or his w, that was his healing is a bit more chunky but is only due to him being rewarded in landing his spells or the special occasions of his team landing something. He needs to just go back to being a bustier mage that deals DoT and punished enemy's mispositions with chunky heals if spells are landed well. This adds to a more interactive gameplay to play around his kit as a whole and also benefit himself and his team with the old passive. Also back then people had so many builds for Swain and he was played decently across 4 positions, a genuinely reliable champ that had a flexible build to provide his team with anything they were lacking. Now it's all gone.

On Hweis release Riot specifically said that they would tune him away from Support if that ever became his main role by the player base. He works decently, but he's better with levels and he needs gold.

Because he was giga nerfed during pbe, their reasoning being that his R has infinite demonflares now which they also nerfed it by making sure the demonflares do not scale with cooldown reductions and also nerfed his drain I think, on top of that made the cooldown of his R two entire minutes.

The game feels unsatisying because how braindead some champions are, if you are trying to win why would you ever pick a hard to play champion over an easy one? Makes playing a hard champ feel shitty when a player much worse than you can have the same impact if not more of one on an easy champion.

I have not read though everything about the Swain changes but I think the only reasonable change they made was his E not having outputted his full damage upon landing the hook or explosion if multiple. So for example if an enemy is behind their minion and you throw your E 1/3rd of the damage is released on the minion or during the throw and 2/3's of it upon landing the hook and pulling, they essentially isolated the damage to make it more reasonable. They also I think said his E will be wider but it doesn't feel like it and his E returning to him faster doesn't make much sense since the projectile is releasing incredibly slowly making the bounce back quite easy to predict and dodge.
I believe they did this so that Swain can rotate around Q and E more than use his W, they also made his W like 20 second cooldown while making E lower in cooldown, I'm unsure why but this only makes Swain top viable because they don't really need w to roam much unless it's for enemy vision. It's in a way nerfed Swain mid and in a way support because it's a good spell to peel minions or help out people across the map without having to physically invade and gank since he's immobile but now he's most reliant on his E only which is most effective as a support due to two targets to stack twice.
They overall wanted Swain to be adjustable and viable across all roles without having to buff his kit when he's doing badly in mid because that'd make him stronger as a support causing people to play him mid less, however with all the poor feedback and objective statistics showing him at a 46% winrate or so upon the rework release they seem to have gone back to playing with the numbers again instead of reverting it as a whole.
I think overall not letting the 2018 Swain rework just be who he was instead of focusing on the R drain made this champion an abomination to try and fix in a satisfactory fashion they should just change him back to his 2018 self and rid of those old Swain boomers.

If you like Shacos ability to move around the map, and do stupid shenanigans, I highly recommend Pyke. Especially if you're already playing Lethality Shaco support. Though Pyke is more proactive, while Shaco is reactive.
