Mutts cried these were somehow on the same level. Not to mention game mechancis like vehicle render distance being bypassed by the maddog firing feature of brimstones that would make it the only missile capable of killing targets in GRB farther than 20km

I'm asking the question again. Can you even win battles in air RB by killing bases? I don't remember the last time that a team won via base destruction and I'm not sure if they even lose a chunk of tickets for killing all of the bases anymore.

I have extreme doubts that the groms would have had ANY impact on the meta whatsoever. This isn't even like when they held back the R-73s. Whether or not that you think that the R-73 was fine or too good, it undoubtedly would have been heavily felt in the meta at the time. The groms are just a slow, but very safe, way to kill a base.

iirc bases are 200tickets each, so assuming tickets dont drain by any other means (and the bases respawn fast enough) it can be done
but its significantly faster to just kill ground targets or players

Its pretty good. Ugly, but good.
Killing casnigs thinking you're an easy revenge kill never gets old.
Using the commander sights to snipe people works but just keep in mind that the barrel smoke gets in the way so make sure its for actually distant targets.

It's worse at that than many existing weapons. The ONLY, and I mean ONLY, application where there grom outperformed anything else in the game is as a means to kill a BASE from safe standoff ranges. There are faster ways to kill bases too, and they've dramatically reduced the impact of killing bases over the years.

This was another mig-25 situation. USA having a melty by projecting capabilities onto a weapon system that didn't have those capabilities.

I don't think that it's even fair to compare the grom to the phoenix or R-73. Both have had a big impact on the metagame.

There is room to debate on whether or not the decision to add the phoenix or abstain from adding the R-73 was a mistake or not. On if the phoenix is oppressive to its matchmaking range or is just a noob killer. On if the R-73 would have been OP at the time or if it would have been fine. No matter which side of the aisle that you fall on, it's clear that the phoenix and the R-73 had big impacts on the metagame for their nations at those BRs.

But the Grom? It's a meme way to kill bases. Full stop. Who cares? Bases have been nothingburgers for years. At the VERY most maybe someone completes their "kill X bases" daily task a little bit easier.

Depends on whether you like props, early jets or late jets.
Imo the best would be Yak-3 (VK-107) because it's piss easy to play.
You use that to research everything including rank V.
Then get the Mig 15 (BIS) in rank 5 and use that to grind out Mig 17 and talisman that to grind out rank VI and get to VII with the Mig 21 SMT. That would be the last thing to talisman for me and probably also to stop at because the rest of TT is utter dogshit.
You can pick up the SU11 or Migt 15 BISH ISH, however the grind path should be the same except you just either straight up grind to Rank VII and use the Mig 17 to grind out the Mig 21 SMT which you can tally again.

Forgot to ask but how do you want your star player and captain Pidor to look like?
If there are no suggestions Ill just ask the aesthetics people to cobble together something like picrel from TF2 models and slap a tanker helmet on top of that.

Also please hit me with some (you)'s that I can show the footy organizers that there is enough interest from the thread so we get to actually play, like at least 5, the more the better. Last time was kinda ass timing from my part since they implemented that 15min post timer shit.

I think the captain should be called Papa Daniel instead. Basing it on that avatar is good, even better if you can completely model some stylized stalin-powered heavy tank like the IS-2 or IS-6/7
Pidor should be another player, preferably in some swegroid/amerimutt premium or something similar
also it would be kino if the goalkeeper is a Pantsir-S1 (if it isnt one already), since they dont let anything go through ingame, and it would be funny to see the goalkeeper be a huge ass truck

You can struggle a bit with uptiers but it's doable, mainly the british tanks like valentines and churchills give you the most trouble so not worth trying to fight them from the front, best to use your speed and try and flank. Armour on this thing is very average but found actually that a lot of shots would just kil 1 or 2 of the crew rather than outright oneshotting me. Might have been overpenetration being modelled. Stick to its strength and find a hillcrest if possible, for example on Seversk I would camp just north or south of the A point depending on where I spawned.

Weird how aggressive the crying over the Grom is. The only actual use case is smashing bases in Air battles without needing to fly at them and hoping bomb busses don't beat your payload there. In GRB you would be blanketing a camping spot blindly hoping people are there and stay there for the 2 minutes it will take to arrive.

Okay...? A lot of tanks you fight can pen you but the majority of players you fight are braindead mutts or germutts that don't know where to aim, especially if you put bushes on it. You can easily kill everything you face while having good armor and great speed despite the additional armor. The biggest threat you face in it are germutt 75's and that's only if you let them get the first shot off.

so 80% of it shouldn't be in the game.
The majority of the Strv 2000 parts existed it was a matter of just sticking them together but Leos were cheaper. It would be a fun unique tank in a sea of Leopard spam in every minor tree.

Wait the fuck? Battle in GRB has a hard time limit now?
We pushed the enemy team to only 1 dude on the ground and 2 cas. The score was 51 to 51 with us starting to cap the enemy point in order to win, and I spawned a SPAA to try and shoot down the cas. However the game just decided on itself that we list the battle as one of our tanks got killed with the final score being 51-52 despite us having still like 5 people on the map??? The match hard ended at 25 mins and a few seconds.

There's maps where you can camp the point from a spot that's hard to reach or the rare game where both teams are equally matched leading to longer games.

95% of the time I get hit in the mantlet from any ~100 pen APHE it penetrates and insta-kills because they nerfed its fuel tanks a year ago. KV-1Es are piss easy to kill unless you have less than 90 pen, then you can still just hit the driver slot or MG port at any angle.

I tried it with M830A1 and the HUD says it's switching between impact fuze and radio fuze (proximity) but it seems to make no difference how the shell behaves when fired at targets

Maybe but the Ju288 has pretty godly flight performance for what it is, so it's a great CAS option in ground RB with its only real downside being that bombers tend to cost more SL than something like the Me262 with the 50mm.

You have enough R-77s to throw around to afford to toss the odd one out early just to get the enemy to blink first. I think I've pretty much given up on 27ET's though.

I've been having some recent luck just side climbing up really high and then just playing defensive until the battle ultimately devolves into a furball on the the deck, and then just dropping missiles on their heads. The 77 has a bit more range when you have a few km altitude advantage. Although you do run the risk of those matches where one team just completely dies during the initial merge and you either have nothing to shoot or you are now outnumbered four to one.

The fucking 8 second scan time of its radar makes it really easy for the flanker to just lose targets in empty space even if you know exactly where the opponent is.

Maybe the radar on the 29SMT and the 141 might be good enough to pull off the trick, but do you really want to throw away one of your two (2) precious 27ERs for such a meme shot when flying those planes? The Su-34 will be the first plane with an abundance of 27ERs and a radar capable of reliably maintaining a TWS lock on a target and transition back to a proper full lock without risking losing the target outright. Might open up some meme tricks if you can get the timing down to the point where your missile only goes "pitbull" for the last 2-4 km instead of the usual ranges where fox-3s go pitbull.

It still has all the downsides inherent of using Fox-1s vs fox-3s, and it is very demanding on the pilot's attention, but maybe it might have some usage with the Su-34. Again, because the Su-34 has both a large sum of 27ERs and a good radar. The Su-27 has a shit radar, and the 29 and 141 have a painful shortage of missiles.

Pretty much. Most other medium tanks have higher mobility. Leopards, T-55's and alike. It's an absolute piece of shit tank series. M47 was great. M48 was decent but usable but M60 are just trash. Su-100 and Su-100P are good. P is just vulnerable to CAS niggers revenge bombing. 2S3M is good too, reliably kills stuff if you can land shots. IS-2 fucks shit up, it's not reliable in terms of armor but it's decently mobile so you can play it kinda like heavier medium tank with long reload. T-44 with 85mm is something you should avoid, chassis is great but 85mm at this BR isn't that good. Czech AA is great. You can kill some tanks with it too.

Thank god I didn't buy the Type 74 G in hopes of the Type 16 FPS going on sale. I've all but given up on Japan. What I REALLY wanted, the Leo A1A1 L44, is on sale so that's going with my TAM 2IP. I have room for one more in my budget and that looks like the XM-1 before it vanishes into the fucking ether for however many years. I'm still waiting on the snail to bring back the VRCC.

I get that the countermeasure count has a certain value, but air to air it has very little going in terms of BR placement compared to its current contemporaries- the AIM-54c being a direct downgrade by all measures i've seen

If anything the IRAF should be 13.0 as it stands

If you don't know specifically what you are looking for in that jet I would caution against it

Because of the radar and targeting pod there are some unorthodox things you can do with it, but you are going to be performing worse pound for pound against any afterburning jet and 11.7/11.3 is a bit of black hole in both air and ground.

That said, it's got a ground targeting computer in the radar pod which is unique to it until the next update, and can, maybe, if Gaijin is based enough, equip the R77 at some point in the future. The vikhrs i believe can be used in a pseudo-BVR capacity if you want to try and clown on people.

Compared to the SU-25s available in the tree its more of a novelty item- its not going to be good in air combat no matter how decent you are
